Yes, I own it. Are you aware of the Lego Maniac/Scooby Doo comic that ran in Lego Mania magazine in the 90s, like two decades before Lego scooby doo sets came out? (The Lego Maniac was an old Lego mascot no one remembers)
@@NerdSyncProductions yes. I mentioned this on your Twitter post, but they have the whole thing at my local library. I read it when I was in middle school
This was absolutely amazing! Also I love the two of you together xD This comic should absolutely be adapted, including being faithful to that ending because it was definitely perfect.
They need to reprint all these old Scooby comics. The compendiums are a great way to do that. I’d love to have all these old forgotten Scoob stories just so I can pull it off the shelves every once in a while
"What does a BOMB smell like!?" ... It... The talking dog is completely ignored here, being instead aghast at the concept of smelling a bomb, as is the number 1 reason dogs are occupied in airports across the globe. Gunpowder, Nitroglycerin, or other things. All of these smells are fairly easy for a dog to smell.
Having watched entire video - I don't think this is very 'insane', but it seems like a crazy good story. Honestly early 2000s DC kids stuff is super underrated and people are sleeping on it. Fans of the original Teen Titans cartoon say they're looking for a sequel - the Teen Titans Go (no relation to future show by that name) spinoff is exactly that! It's really good, features work by Spectacular Spider-Man character designer Cheeks Galloway, and incorporates a lot of stuff from Teen Titans comics into show mythos!
Great vid! A few years back I read through a ton of the old DC Scoob comics, and Dragon's Eye was definitely the most memorable one. It felt like a precursor to what Mystery Incorporated would later be. Multiple mysteries tying into an overarching story, a villain that genuinely tries to take out the gang... heck, it's kinda similar to the struggle over the Planespheric Disc pieces. Some stuff had certainly aged poorly and 11 page stories are kinda limiting, but I have a soft spot for anytime this franchise gets more ambitious with these stories, and a multipart, globe-trotting adventure certainly fits the bill. The art is also fantastic. The comics had a number of artists, but any comic with pencils by Joe Staton was sure to have some quality art. He had a great style for the characters that wasn't 100% on-model, but was quite expessive, and his pages had some of the most dynamic posing. I kinda fell off the comics layer on when the art started being super on-model at all times, but that run from the mid 90s-mid 00s is such an interesting capsule of an era between shows, where the art and brand weren't as set in stone.
Look I know this episode is not sponsored by Rosetta Stone but apparently this is a proof positives that Fred now uses Rosetta Stone because in the previous times he visited Italy and Japan he kept on having to pull out a guidebook or rely on Daphne. Well knowing my history with the scooby gang and museums this is not a good sign. I'm not going to link and reference another series in the comments but there is someone out there rating all the evil schemes of every single scooby doo villain and apparently the scooby gang have committed a lot of crimes
Darn it, Scott!!! Your snap caused Warner Bros to announce a Velma special today to finish the series. It's going to be released this very month, and it will be a replacement for the cancelled third season. May the Doo have mercy on our souls.
I both really love the style of editing in this video as well as I really enjoy you and Phil talking, you two. Have a great on-screen chemistry and senses of humor that mesh really well. I really hope to see more of both of you in the future
Dude, this was so epic, it made my eyeballs do the Macarena! And those two together? Chef's kiss! We need this as an animated movie, and let's keep that ending exactly the same. Because if they mess it up, I'll riot... in my pajamas.
I like how they ended with appearing to let the supernatural elements go both ways, but they already confirmed supernatural elements in Boo Brothers(1987), Reluctant Werewolf(1988), Zombie Island(1998), Witch's Ghost(1999), and Alien Invaders(2000). I know these are movies and could be thought of as separate from the comics, but still wanted to point this out because for the longest time I thought none of Scooby doo was supernatural. Only watching the shows, it was always someone in a mask, but then when I started watching the movies. There were bad actors in masks, but also started introducing supernatural elements.
Legasp! A scoobtober video! All jokes aside this was a genuine treat, thank you Scott! Hope that your illness while filming your sponsor was/is mild and that you have an excellent spooky season!
really enjoyed this video!! haven't read a lot of comics in general and really like you taking two of your interests and showing them to us!! i dont think it was part of this comic series, but i remember having a hard back children's book style of scooby doo comics, it's the foggiest but still deeply nostalgic mystery. that's neither here nor there, but was suddenly reminded of it with this video!

if you DON'T know I highly recommend watching the movie first, BUT spoilers: like big big big spoilers: the witch in the film grinds up a baby in a mortar and pestle
Upon seeing the thumbnail, I jumped out of my chair yelling 'the Dragon's Eye' at the top of my lungs. My family now thinks I need a better psychiatrist.
When you said this was “Scooby-Doo meets Infinity War”, I was disappointed that the comic didn’t end with half of the cast dead. Then again, there are already other Scooby-Doo stories that end like that.
I've begun reading it and right off the top - when she's introducing the writers at the party, they're all off-brand versions of classic writers, till you get to Sue Griphon - who's a take on Sue Grafton, whose books are always alphabetically titled "A is for Arson", etc. And further in, a curator references "the Castafiore emerald" which is the McGuffin of the Tintin book "The Castafiore Emerald".
That was amazing, but I am quite bothered you have never seen the masterpiece, "The Witch". Seriously, it's a fantastic and beautiful film. Also, tis the season! Feel better!
Well, Shaggy canonically being an Olympic gymnast has me not at all being surprised that Fred speaks Italian and Chinese.
And an effective ventriloquist as well. Lol
I can't believe Scooby stole the Master Emerald.
Dog smelling a bomb makes sense, there are dogs trained to smell for explosives.
