The humor in this show was on point since the first episode, from that first "but you have a job as a teacher, why do you need more money?" "..." "Oh..." It was clear this show was written so older demographics could have fun watching it with the younger kids.
It’s actually based on a real monster that lost its head and tried to move its face to its body but as it turns out nipples aren’t good at seeing so it’s basically blind
Mary Anne over estimated her plan. She genuinely believed the children were just this being held back by adults and were smarter then they were all because she’s a kid genius. That’s why the cartoons worked on the elementary school children and they called the game “lame”. She was able to keep them motivated until they were having fun anymore which she didn’t understand cause she put too much trust in her ideology.
Marcys plan was to get the amusement park shut down in order to repurpose its metals and sell it for profit. It would get her money and out shine Velma. Marcy was a bullied kid who got made fun of for the scent that lingered on her after having to work for her fathers amusement park. It was a double edge sword- she wanted to stop the bullying and isolation she received from smelling like hot dog water, whilst also making a profit that would elevate her above those she hated.
Her fate was the saddest Even though she came back along with everyone else it was still sad Before the end they were coming to terms that she had actually died
Id argue that the Horrible Herd show just how dangerous Pericles and his group are, they aren't messing around and are willing to destroy Crystal Cove just to get to thier goal.
it also showed that Mr E knew when Pericles was going too far. He is annoyed with Pericles that many of his best scientists are missing and is oblivious to the fact they're carrying dangerous missiles around. It was from this point onwards Mr E began to regret joining Pericles.
@@michaeliv284 Surely though the gang, Mayor Nettles and the Sheriff had plenty on him, Brad and Judy to have them arrested. Gonna have my fitst "erm akshually" moment here to say the Herd was never supposed to be a conventional mystery. (other than scooby's gf dying, the other highlight of the episode includes multiple canonical deaths occuring due to the creation and the reveal Pericles has basically an "instakill" button ready for Mr.E
9:52 I think the implication was that they were so off putting that you were meant to think, “maybe this ISN’T a disguise?” After all, the show did eventually come to introduce some real supernatural elements. I think the gators were a fabulous idea to treat the early episodes with that level of horror.
Hey how about a ranking Scooby doo villains based on the effort they put into their monster? Like how much effort they put into making their monster costumes, puppets, special effects and actual practical applications. Like with the vampire Sheila made an effort to have some way to allow her to fly/glide, Char Gar Gothakon’s get up actually had the ability to emit powerful sonic shrieks, Man Crab was a literal robotic suit that gave Bud unique abilities when worn, the Mayan goddess had special fertilizer to manipulate plants, stuff like that where the criminals made an effort to make their monsters somewhat realistic, terrifying and/or legitimately threatening.
5:16 The big thing with The Humungonauts is that they and the episode they are in are is just one big reference to the movie War of the Gargantuas. With that context it explains a lot of why certain things happened in the episode. Like the song in the beginning. The Humungonauts are really just made to be references but I think for them and their episode it works! It’s an especially deep cut reference too! You don’t see references for that movie often!
1:37:03 In the "Scooby-Doo! Where's my Mummy", The Ghost of Cleopatra was in fact Velma herself in order to stop tomb robbers. Tho, I don't think there was a mystery before or after Kramps to have the full gang involved
The Horrible Herd was one of the only 2 monsters from Scooby Doo that genuinely *terrified* me as a child (the other being the Willawaw from Scooby Doo Where Are You). I had NIGHTMARES about these things
The hodak of horror was the scariest monster to me when the show came out. I was terrified this thing was going to come out of the woods and take my dog
Yeah, tbh when I last watched the show, I ranked all the monsters in a tierlist, and the aliens were one of the few that ended up in D Tier and thus, My Bottom 5.
Rude boy and the skatastics are my favorite villains of mystery inc and they are the villains of my favorite episode. So I’m so happy to see that they ranked in 3rd place! I would have been happy if they were in the top 5, but in them being in the top 3 is amazing! I loved their appearance, motivations, and their song was so catchy that I still sing it sometimes.
dead right mate was actually recorded and performed by Dave Wakeling from the uk ska band called the beat hence why the song slaps, he also wrote the hex girls song in that episode.
Fun fact: The Humongonauts are based off Sanda and Gaira, from the film “War of the gargantuas”, and old movie made by the company that made Godzilla. They are two monsters that are twins, and often disagree, fighting it out. So the fact that these twins, fight, and are in two similar costumes, is a massive refrence to War of the Gargantuas.
Something I liked about the gator people in the LATAM dub, the gator lady is voiced by the same voice actress of Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog, so she was like a shady Muriel here xd
In the vampire’s defense, maybe she was a red haring for Fred’s dad being the CC freak, even though he had a lot more build up doing sketchy stuff so it’s not too surprising when he goes evil. Even saying that she was one of the most transparent villains. I liked the nightfright episode but fair enough that’s mostly from Vincent deghoul and shaggy and scooby I thought the gluten demon episode was funny because for once we actually see scooby and shaggy hit their limit: they had to eat half of the town’s pastry supply but they finally had too much…and then in true scooby fashion are fine the next time we see them. As a monster though it wasn’t very scary. Danny was genuinely creepy, good villain, excellent use of tragic backstory, and a parallel with Fred. Junk had a great mystery, but all and all I wasn’t a fan of his design. Loved man crab, epic design. “You’re Dead Right Mate”. Only problem I had with that episode was the point about shaggy and Scooby having no ear for music, that felt forced. It makes sense for Scooby since he’s a dog but not shaggy especially after the polka-caribou song connection in “junk”, and then he and Scooby finish off the group with a guitar duet which shouldn’t work if shaggy is truly tone deaf. Still enjoyed it except for that one detail. If you want to keep doing this pup named has some nice villains and it’s shorter.
Tbf deaf/tone deaf people can still enjoy music. Did you ever see that girl on America's got talent who was deaf but learned to sing by using a pitch detector and practicing it a lot. I would also argue this wasn't the first time they did something like that. Remember Angel randomly showed up to save the gang in the aphrodite episode because she didnt have a sense of smell.
@@wickedblade4751 true they can still enjoy music, but my point is that shaggy has done a thing in the past that requires good hearing (hearing that the song in “junk” was slowed down polka music or reversed or whichever) and he played the guitar very well. As someone with musical training it’s possible to be good at music without intonation, but as you said it takes more training. Shaggy probably isn’t that tone def so it wouldn’t hinder him learning the guitar, but there’s a startling difference between the people who hear very well and those who hear average and those who don’t hear well, and if he’s so tone def he can’t hear the hypno-Rhythm in the song he wouldn’t play the guitar very well. Although perhaps shaggy can hear the guitar’s range fine but has trouble hearing low or high sounds, which could work (taking the polka into account it would probably on the high end). At the end of the day there’s a lot of explanations as to why it could work but for me it always seemed contrived. I still enjoyed the episode but that part, just one line, always rang false.
I wondered, when I first saw it, if the vampire episode was actually an homage to the old "Kolchak the Night Stalker" TV series. It was fairly reminiscent of three or four of that show's stories, and its narrow premise might have been a deliberate evocation of that show's budget-constrained style and limited cast size.
The thing about the Horrible Herd, I think, is that theirs was one of several episodes of SDMI which were *intended* to deviate from the formula. Quite a few of the series' stories were intentional homages to particular subgenres within the field of horror and caper-story films, and not all of the subgenres that were emulated are necessarily mystery-driven. The Humungonauts were kaiju, or as close to kaiju as you need to smash up a small town rather than a big city. Darrow Manor was a trapfest a la the "Saw" movies, sans gore. Krampus was a long-con presented to gull the audience as to the protagonists' actual doings, a la "Ocean's Eleven". Que Horrifico was an excuse to do a siege-by-zombies story without the boom headshots. And the Horrible Herd was a straight-up B monster movie in the style of "Tremors", where outthinking the threat requires figuring out clever ways to *stop* real monsters, not unmask fake ones. Given that the writers knew the series was building towards a genuinely-supernatural climax, and thereby tossing ALL the old Scooby-Doo rules out the window in the end, it's entirely reasonable for them to mix-and-match the preceding episodes' styles and degree of realism a bit, while paying tribute to classic chiller and caper motifs that aren't necessarily franchise-specific. Frankly, I suspect it probably made the series more fun for them all to produce that way: you can only unmask Old Man Jenkins so many times without getting bored of it.
13 ghosts of Scooby doo is based on 13 ghosts which had a remake called Thirteen Ghosts (yes spelling it outright is the change) which stars Matthew Lillard. This show has tons of references like that but that one is the easiest to explain
1:59 I love his voice acting, especially as Ratigan in Disney’s “The Great Mouse Detective”. I’m trying not to sing the world’s greatest criminal mind as I’m writing this despite that being one of the best Disney villain songs.

the saddest part about this whole thing is that “dead right mate/good bad girls” wasn’t added to spotify because i absolutely loved the battle of the bands and the music
I feel like they could've done a excelent job with a Cassidy return in that mine scene with the Cristle Cove population mining in the search of the Gate to Nibiru
28:46 this episode traumatised me when I was younger, purely for that one scene where the guy was in the shower and the cicadas were crawling up through the drain and swarmed around him as he screamed. I couldn’t go in the shower without making sure the drain cover was completely on.To this day when I let my mind wander under the hot water I remember that scene and a shiver goes down my spine. Although the ending to that episode was kind of boring so I understand why it was placed lower than the others.
I love these Scooby-Doo villain-rank videos. ❤️ Please do a ranking video for the villains of The Scooby-Doo Show next, please. I feel it's underrated and deserves much more love and appreciation.
When i was younger the cicada creature was one of the scariest things I've seen. the concept of so many bugs swarming you that you suffocate in them was terrifying.
Rudeboy and the ska-tastics are such an underrated Scooby villain. Their song is so catchy and for being zombies their design is so unique. Rudeboy himself looks really cool and kind of intimidating
12:03 honestly, I think that’s what kind of draws me to him, the fact he is that simple in a franchise of complexity kinda makes him stand out in a way I like 🤔
what?? grim judgement night terrors scarebear wraith of krampus night on haunted mountain theater of doom dance of the undead the legend of alice may where walks aphrodite escape from mystery manor nightfright attack of the headless horror a haunting in crystal cove All bangers
In all honesty, Mystery Incorporated interested me as a slightly darker, more lore-focused take on Scooby-Doo. Mayor Jones being Fred's adopted father basically stole Fred from his biological parents, Brad and (I think) Judy and the whole evil entity arc blew kid me away!
I honestly like the idea of the Shadowed Orc having a biker gang and a motive with a train with a shipment of high-class, but overly expensive video game consoles. But I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too, sometimes. Also, as a quick note on Danny Darrow, I think he might be somewhat influenced by the Scissorman from Clocktower, that of a ghoulish midget with a personality befitting a demonic child, with a similar locale mixed with Saw-like traps also befitting the area. And that ending to the episode is something you just can't look over as a twisted but fair ending to the mystery behind Danny Darrow and the Darrow manor.
Since you were talking about the voice actors I thought I would throw out the fun fact that Alice May is voiced by Hynden Walch who voices Princess Bubblegum and Starfire
I adored this series because I basically grew up watching scooby doo because my family didnt have cable and I relied on the local library to find movies to watch, and scooby doo was a good chunk of them. Aside from the goofy story at times but honestly REALLY good lovecraftian plot, I feel like this show played a part in my love for lovecraftian things and stories. Still forgot the aliens even existed as well as the horrible herd and headless ghost
I gotta Agree with the placement for Rudeboy and the Ska-tastics, yeah mind control is a bit of a gimmick but it was nice to see it reference the dancing plague, especially when it seemed like we couldn't stop them due to how powerful they were, Plus the fact it Was rude boy and the Skatastics was a good twist, Plus the song is very catchy
I agree The Fright Hound reveal made little sense but I loved the little Friday The Thirteenth reference with Jason’s mom being the culprit. I feel like this could’ve worked better if her scheme was different and someone else did The Fright Hound
I wish I did like a plot twist where Freddy was the villain or the unmasked villain pretty cool if I wanted the red mystery gang, whatever was unmasked
Honestly I think Crybaby Clown is Top 5th because he not only separated Fred and Daphne but the entire gang! But he also brought them back together!!! And it had a good build-up! But in the end it’s a good two part story 😂❤
Gotta say, the Ghost Truck episode terrified me as a kid. I would have nightmares that id enter a hallway in my house and it'd be ready to run me over, so I'd have to make it to another room quickly. But of course I'd be needing to get to a _different_ room so I'd be constantly chased by a flaning truck trying to run me over while getting only brief respite in certain rooms (never the one I needed to get to).
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING YES. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ALMOST EVERY COSTUME DESIGN IN THIS SHOW, BUT I STILL CAN'T GET OVER HOW COOL THE SLIME MUTANT'S IS IN PARTICULAR.
I wish they could have done a wereturtle episode as they referred that Twilight parody they mention through out the series, I like Sheriff Stone he’s funny does the fiend count as a werewolf?
The slime mutant gave me nightmares as a child so it’s my favourite but the man crab is close second because I think of his episode when I think of the show
Ok so I obviously don't know anything about WWE but wasn't the episode "Battle of the Humungonauts" an homage to the Toho Kaiju Film "war of the gargantuas"?
Imma be real, I put on Foul play in Funland this morning before I watched this video. Charlie was just goofy and scurrying the whole episode. Only just having the iconic shot of him staring down scooby Good video though I love mystery Incorporated
9:17 I mean… I like the creeping creatures, though the fact I’m bias and have a strong love towards reptiles. So I love them mainly for their theme and design, so probably shouldn’t take my word.
21:10 this is like since it look cool to see a voice swap Like this is weird like feel weird that Clancy Brown played a bad guy that need to get hottest girl
1:33:57 kinda funny how ska ghosts are ranked higher than one of the main villain’s plans to get the maguffin of the show Not that I’m complaining these guys have one hell of a song
I'd love to know the specific BGM music you used for "The Dragon". Sounds very beetles like. It's very catchy and upbeat. P.S. I don't know if this can be helped, but the Creek Staab Chapter is 1:00:00 in and continues all the way to the end of the video. If this can be helped I recommend editing chapters past the 1 hour mark, if it can't be helped, know that I am just trying to be resourceful / helpful.

12:03 honestly, I think that’s what kind of draws me to him, the fact he is that simple in a franchise of complexity kinda makes him stand out in a way I like 🤔
Honestly out of any episode of Mistery inc i would rewatch :
The clown episodes
the gnome episode
and the dreamweaver episode
what??
grim judgement
night terrors
scarebear
wraith of krampus
night on haunted mountain
theater of doom
dance of the undead
the legend of alice may
where walks aphrodite
escape from mystery manor
nightfright
attack of the headless horror
a haunting in crystal cove
All bangers
I miss when Scooby Doo had villains who were legitimately terrifying. Makes me still watch the show even ten years later.
Give the bear man some slack would you keep the scary act up if there was a literal BOMB
How is that you have so little subs. Keep up the good work!
Awesome ranking! My favourite would have to be Pericles
My assumption with Alice May is that she was just a mercenary working for Destoido, she had no real motive of her own, she was just in it for money.
Keep up the good work
I have one thing to say!
PIZZA!!!!
i liked the Humongonauts because they reminded me of Redmond and Blutarch Mann
The humongonauts are actually directly based on the monsters in the Toho film “war of the gargantuans”
I gotta Agree with the placement for Rudeboy and the Ska-tastics, yeah mind control is a bit of a gimmick but it was nice to see it reference the dancing plague, especially when it seemed like we couldn't stop them due to how powerful they were, Plus the fact it Was rude boy and the Skatastics was a good twist, Plus the song is very catchy
great video, maybe now all episodes ranked
Idk why but Crybaby Clown creeped me out so much as a child. And now I can see why.💀
At 5:16 fun fact. The Humungonauts are a reference the Gargantuas from The War Of The Gargantuas
Awesome Stream Bro!
This show scared the shit out of me
I agree The Fright Hound reveal made little sense but I loved the little Friday The Thirteenth reference with Jason’s mom being the culprit. I feel like this could’ve worked better if her scheme was different and someone else did The Fright Hound
I wish I did like a plot twist where Freddy was the villain or the unmasked villain pretty cool if I wanted the red mystery gang, whatever was unmasked
53:16 I feel like the entire episode was inspired by the shinning, even the culprit seem to have taking notes from one of the shinning charecters.
Well given that there was a straight reference to The Shining in the Bathroom scene with Shaggy and Scooby, yeah.
Nice channel!
Honestly I think Crybaby Clown is Top 5th because he not only separated Fred and Daphne but the entire gang! But he also brought them back together!!! And it had a good build-up! But in the end it’s a good two part story 😂❤
1:10:35 Baba yaga is such an famous folk lore legend, that an japanese artist called V flower partnered with E ve to make an song called "Baba Yaga"
Graveyard Ghoul? I'm thinking viewers should beware, it seems we're in for a scare
The Junk reminds me of a Movie with a similar Enemy, but a Alien wich absorbed all Iron, even from Blood. Is a good Scifi Horror Movie in my Eyes.
don't know if you mentioned it but in one episode of the show which I think was the krampus episode they showed flim flam from 13 ghost as well
Gotta say, the Ghost Truck episode terrified me as a kid.
I actually really like the dandy highwayman
WOOOOOO RUDE BOY AND THE SKA-TASTICS
As a Wisconsinite, hearing him praise the Hodag was great, I didn’t even mind when he pointed out the downsides.
41:47 I appreciate the Rocky Bay music.
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING YES. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ALMOST EVERY COSTUME DESIGN IN THIS SHOW, BUT I STILL CAN'T GET OVER HOW COOL THE SLIME MUTANT'S IS IN PARTICULAR.
I really hope you do the scooby doo show or what’s new for your next ranking!!
We're so back
I wish they could have done a wereturtle episode as they referred that Twilight parody they mention through out the series, I like Sheriff Stone he’s funny does the fiend count as a werewolf?
I like the humonganauts because there just 1 big war of the Gargantua's reference
but thats it
Do a pup named Scooby doo monster ranking
The slime mutant gave me nightmares as a child so it’s my favourite but the man crab is close second because I think of his episode when I think of the show
Ok so I obviously don't know anything about WWE but wasn't the episode "Battle of the Humungonauts" an homage to the Toho Kaiju Film "war of the gargantuas"?
Imma be real, I put on Foul play in Funland this morning before I watched this video.
Charlie was just goofy and scurrying the whole episode. Only just having the iconic shot of him staring down scooby
Good video though I love mystery Incorporated
9:17 I mean… I like the creeping creatures, though the fact I’m bias and have a strong love towards reptiles. So I love them mainly for their theme and design, so probably shouldn’t take my word.
I like dandy the highway man because he will rob you of all your valuables and will take your girl. He is just a menace
5:16 these are actual reference to the war of the gargantuas if I’m not mistaken
1:38:12 apparently the evil entity name is nibru (ignore spelling)
The realization that the Rude Boy and the Ska-Tastics episode basically has the same plot as the Scooby Doo and the Legend of the Vampire movie
Heya new guy here love your content btw can you do a what's new Scooby-Doo monster/villain list
I’m rewatching this show now
I love this show
The fact that I learned about the conquistadors through a Scooby Doo show💀
Pericles as a long term villain was the crown jewel of this show to me.
Those 3 musician ghosts are hands down my favorite
21:10 this is like since it look cool to see a voice swap
Like this is weird like feel weird that Clancy Brown played a bad guy that need to get hottest girl
1:33:57 kinda funny how ska ghosts are ranked higher than one of the main villain’s plans to get the maguffin of the show
Not that I’m complaining these guys have one hell of a song
1:34:52 Back Again, Shady’s back, tell a friend
Episode two that’s why monster appeared in that was actually alligators that appeared in episode one
The wild brood are a reference to The Wild One starring Marlon Brando.
At 57:43 🎶🎵robots in disguise🎵🎶
I'd love to know the specific BGM music you used for "The Dragon". Sounds very beetles like. It's very catchy and upbeat.
P.S. I don't know if this can be helped, but the Creek Staab Chapter is 1:00:00 in and continues all the way to the end of the video. If this can be helped I recommend editing chapters past the 1 hour mark, if it can't be helped, know that I am just trying to be resourceful / helpful.
Hopefully that can be fixed at some point, thanks.
And the song was "Tell me tell me" by Austin Roberts
Your still roasting the Ape Man😂😂😂
everyone should still be roasting the ape man
