なるほど!So for meaning "should": はず is more on your assumption べき focuses on ethics たほうがいい is for advice なければならない is like a rule (you don't really have a choice) ありがとうございますみさ先生!

Your emphasis on nuances of feeling between different ways of saying more or less the same thing is very welcome, very helpful, very uncommon and if you collect odd, antique English expressions, it's the cat's pajamas (i.e. the best).
Misa, you're the best Japanese teacher out there! I was literally waiting for your explanation of should/must and different ways of saying it. Greetings from Mexico!
your makeup on this video made you look like you just finished crying. I feel worried while learning. LOL ところで、こんなタイプの動画によっていつも教えてくれてありがとうございます。I hope my grammar is fine.
Yes! This was always a confusing topic for me, I'm glad Misa-sensei is finally covering it! I always understand things better when you explain them. Again, you look lovely as always
When you say you "expect someone to X" in English, it can sound like you are pressuring them to X and if they don't, there will be negative consequences for them. For example "I expect them to be on time tomorrow" (and if they are not, they may be fired). To make it less ambiguous, it's better to say "expect someone will X". E.g. "I expect they will be on time tomorrow." The latter sentence just expresses what you think will happen.
Every time I watch a new video I always comment "this is the best/ one of the best videos you've ever made!!!" - I don't know what else to say - no matter where else I go, you always explain it the best in the end. I spent half a day reading about べき and was starting to lose hope that Japanese is far too difficult, then I watch this video and it all seems simple again :') Ok I will try to make a sentence コロナワイルスはまだありますが、日本はもっと外国人を国に入ることは許すべきです。 I don't know the vocab for more serious social topics - but I am staying topical instead 😅
I'm a beginner but I love watching all of your videos! I'm still learning vocabulary and I have a lot of Kanji to learn still. Thank you so much for all of your lessons! ありがとございます!❤
I learned a new word. It was: "punctual" :D I thought in English you would just say "be on time" or something. So much to learn even in unexpected directions.^^
Great video as always, I'm really happy that you're doing harder JLTP like 3 recently, thank you so much hehe :) Also to answer your question at the end of the video: 日本人は感情についてもっとオップンになるべきだと思います。 (If this is any correct xDD, I hope so, I think so hehe)
Niiice, I managed to understand this without knowing the kanji 情 but knew that 感 read as かん and represented feelings/"to" Because of this I learned the compound noun for feelings 感情(かんじょう) これでありがとうございました ところで、その「べき」の使い方は僕に正しそうです

Misa Sensei, 素晴らしかった。 It's impossible to overstate how good your videos are. For those of us who are late to the game, is there a suggested order or classification to watch your older videos? Please, please consider making Anki decks available to review - maybe on Patreon at some premium? Videos are great for learning, but repetition is key to retention. Thank you for all that you do. You are the best.
It's such a great shame that Misa doesn't make videos like this anymore. I realize people move on, go in different directions for whatever reasons, etc. But Misa was SO good at this, it is truly a loss for Japanese learners. Thankfully, her older videos like this one are still available.
Great video Misa :) But why is it a problem if something sounds masculine? (okay I am nitpicking, but that caught me offguard. I know what you meant, but the phrasing was a bit ... :D )
Thanks for the video Misa先生, they help a ton. Very off topic but I keep hearing よかった pronounced with a が instead of the か, am I wrong? I might just not have the sounds down yet. Moreover I would love to hear you speak the sentences we build in the lessons at a more natural speed after we read it at a slower speed before so that it is easier to develop a feel for pitch in sentences. I really like it when you sometimes go a little off topic and speak at a slightly faster pace. As always great work! 次回のレッスンを楽しみにしています!
The first episode of Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo has a situation where a man is asked to give up his seat for an older woman. If you broke down a lot of these phrases in the episodes that would also be great content in my opinion, the show is free to watch all over TH-cam
hello Misa, i just newly found ur channel and god i think it is the place i been looking for ever since i started studying Japanese... i maybe not be sure but it would be amazing if u make videos on kanji's and how u Japanese yourselves had learnt them, for example at school...the kanji's u r taught during different grades with maybe all the possible readings of the letter itself, when and when not to use it and so on i love your channel already and thumbs up to your hard work!! p.s: i use a book called "The First Japanese Textbook for Foreigners in English" written by Michiko Miyazaki, Nami Kurita and Mai Sakamoto, comes with 2 audio CDs and i kinda recommend it for those who look for a textbook that has (in my opinion) everything in it u might need as a new Japanese resident or visitor or learner... Misa chan wa arigatou gozaimasu :))))
Hi Misa! Do we pronounce "g" in the middle of Japanese sentences as an explosive sound or a nasal/nasalized? I have heard we say the explosive 💥 G! in the beginning of a sentence, does this rule apply for the beginning of a word as well? Do we say Go-hang or ngo-hang? Go is a prefix of respect, right, so do I have to pronounce 昼ご飯 as hi-ru-Go-hang or do I say hi-ru-ngo-hang??? Won't you make a separate episode for the pronunciation itself? And thank you!
