    Electronic actuators represent strongest form of arm force generation. At the automaker I worked at they had one single actuator about as thick as a broom stick that would lift 3k pound chassis very quickly and easily with no maintenance.

    I think eventually electric will take over for some applications. But heres the problem.. unless you're a company that takes the machines back to the shop... for companies like mine where we leave the machines at the job.. we wouldn't be able to charge the machine on site. 1. I highly doubt the homeowner would have a stage 2 charger. Or allow the charge. Youll actually see that on the electric bill so as petty s it sounds I would actually have to put that in my contracts. And it would require a spare 220 outlet.. which I dont see happening.
    Now I do see this being used in landscaping lots( loading mulch, rocks, stone, pallets, pavers) where you could keep your fleet charged at night. Very cool to see technology affect our industry in a positive way.

    If that ASV track really stays on as well as they say it can it could end up saving you thousands. Especially working in remote sites. Just ask how much it costs to get a repair in places the repair truck can't get to. I swear the mechanics start charging by the foot once they have to start walking.

    Hey Stan great content between reviewing/testing tools equipment to teaching some basic and some complex skills of the trades. My question to you is a business question. It doesn’t snow all winter so you tell yourself oh well no extra money this year at least the grass will grow, then the grass goes brown before May is over. I booked enough landscaping jobs to stay busy through summer on top of the mowing but didn’t think grass would be going dormant end of may. Any suggestions?

  • @googleboy7

    Hi Stan. Ask them how the batteries perform when it is really hot or cold. What is the charge cycle life, what will new batteries cost? What will it cost to replace them? What will green disposal cost? How do you put out the fires when the lithium contacts air or water? Can the machines be insured against fire loss and what will that cost? Where will the energy come from to power the non-existant super grid? What will power that? I gotta stop. There are a lot more questions, but I'm ticking myself off and getting frustrated watching our country drink the "GREEN" Koolaid! Yeah...batteries are great. And a cheap paper mask will stop a one micron virus. God help us all! Shalom/gw PS Having a machine "on the job" and having it operational are two dfiifferent things.

    Stan. I'm very interested in the all electric equipment, all forms. Skidsteers, small loaders, mini backhoes. It seems like the way to go. I just need proof of performance and failure points. Please, test the hell out of these things asap. That remote machine would be nice, as well. I'd even try running it from my heated pickup. Interested to see efficiency with snow blower, or broom.

    I have my doubts about electric powered machines, as the battery is used more and more it will require charging more and more which means time away from your job making money for the company. Charging time means you get to sit and pick your nose for 8 to 10 hours, I could go on with more but they are not going to last.

    Great video’s as usual. Question: I have a Kubota SvL-752(full cab, high flow), great machine. What does a comparable machine in a ASV cost? No local dealers so it’s difficult to get pricing.

    • @Hummin_Along
      @Hummin_Along ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the SVL 75-2 is compareable to a CAT 259D as they run the exact same Kubota engine. I worked a CAT dealer for 4 years on the compact equipment and now I work at a Kubota dealer as a lead tech. CAT used to run ASV undercarriage on the 257, 277 and 287 machines. They called them MTL's for Multi Terrain Loaders. Great undercarriage just high maintenance and people always running them in gravel and those rubber wheels hate gravel.

    Remote electric operation seems like a toy. If you were at risk of rolling the machine, maybe I could see operating it remotely, or if you have to do a small 2 man job with 1 man, it's a neat party trick, but I don't see smart phone operation taking hold due to how limited the information flow to/from the machine in a tiny smartphone screen.
