  • How we fixed a window that wouldn't close. It was easy! We just had to remove the window and straighten the channel balance.
Removing the bottom window from a single hung window frame, & removing the channel balance for replace or repair. Removing the window also makes it easy to clean.

This window has never worked right, fortunately it was an easy fix!
Edit: It's called the channel balance not balancer. 🙂🏜️

You all have done a great job with your house. Have you had any time to go traveling around or go visit Mexico?

@@Jimmy_in_Mexico Thanks! We camped and hiked Carr Peak last weekend with the kids, but Red still isn't interested in crossing the border.

Red, I cannot say this often enough, you belong in a classroom preferably in a trade school. Your empirical approach as an educator is excellent. Wishing you and April a blessed week, gentle autumn weather and restful evenings. Peace

I've never seen that before. That's neat to see how that all works.

It was our first time trying it. It is nice that the window is so easy to remove and repair.

Thank you so much, was a 15 minute fix once I watched the video. I had no idea what those hooks were for. My friend said he paid $80 for a window guy to come out and fix the same issue…and it took the window guy less than 10 minutes.

Thank you Red! By far the best explanation as to how to install/remove the channel balancers. You nailed the 3 crucial steps, the top clip open/close, the channel balancer bottom hook first and loading the spring before putting in the top clip, install the window "above" the bottom of the channel balancer. Pretty straightforward, however I had the big size window, and it is a bit of a balancing act getting it above the channel balancer to get one side in.

Glad the video was helpful! 🙂 We couldn't close the window for several months, which was a pain. Fortunately it was a fairly easy fix.

This window has been open all summer, it's nice to finally be able to close it! I was worried we would have to replace it or something. 😄❤️

Thanks for that insight,. You didn't show it but I assume there is a similar balancer on the other side?

On my moms window, the channel balancer is all the way up on one side when the window is closed. So its not in the window anymore. Does that mean the spring is damaged or broken?
We have yet to take the window apart as both her windows are like this, but one still opens while the other doesn't. The one that still opens, however, is a...its a pain, so she doesnt open it except a few inches. She's afraid she wont be able to close it again. I wanna tinker with both windows, but she's apprehensive because she's a fraid we wont be able to put it back together. Lol

My windows are too loose. They don't stay fully open; they fall about halfway down. Any idea what could be the problem? Thank you!

You should be able to order them online if you know the size.
