Its not a weakness, the question of which religion follows from the truth of theism while important, is a different type of discussion. The great thing about Van Till was, he saw the worldview level aspect of Christianity and that it cannot be dispensed with. Regardless of any difficulties about Christendom, generally speaking. I agree with him fundamentally. As someone of a very different sect, or type, of believer. I think Dr. Till's Calvinism is false.

I know recently people made a big fuss over same-sex couples being able to be blessed in catholic churches, but that's not extraordinary or innovative doctrine if you've actually ever actually been to a catholic mass before in your life. Now, francis has spoken about same-sex couples not being able to marry and so on in the past, he's not some bastion of liberal ideology that prots and the media make him out to be; the man still wants people to forgo condoms and birth control, still won't recognize same sex couples as being capable of being married, and still touts the supposed salvific superiority of the catholic church over other denominations and religions, just like every pope before him. If I say "my favorite color is red" and my interlocutor uses an argument rooted in my favorite color being "not blue" and I then go "i never said that's my position, you're trying to force a position on me" it would be equivalent with what atheists commonly do against Presup. They're just not understanding implicit claims and necessary logical entailment.
No. The starting point in my worldview is that I exist. Knowledge, logic, facts etc. come from that. I don't know what the ultimate is in reality, or even if the ultimate the way presups describe it exits. This means that I can withhold judgement on god's existence even though I don't use god as the basis for facts. If based on that you claim that I deny god, you are forcing a position on me I don't have.
We know Presups will go to any lengths to pretend that Implicit and Explicit are interchangeable, thus allowing them to shift the burden onto the Atheist. It's all a shell game of definitions and word play in order to allow you to assert something without supporting it, and then claim that we can't justify anything without your unsupported assertion. Edit: Your little analogy would be slightly more accurate if the interlocutor were making the argument that because your favorite color is "not blue" then you can't have a favorite color because according to the interlocutor, all color derives from Blue.

I was surprised to find out there were preuppers beyond Sye. The position is so self contradictory with their demands for facts etc. I thought no sane person would take it. The way presups avoid responding to any criticism points to that at least some part of them knows this too.

Its not a weakness, the question of which religion follows from the truth of theism while important, is a different type of discussion. The great thing about Van Till was, he saw the worldview level aspect of Christianity and that it cannot be dispensed with. Regardless of any difficulties about Christendom, generally speaking.

Presuppositionalists actually need to present a transcendental argument but I have yet to see any well formulated one. They need to actually prove that all other conceivable worldviews are impossible. That is a tall task to meet.

I know recently people made a big fuss over same-sex couples being able to be blessed in catholic churches, but that's not extraordinary or innovative doctrine if you've actually ever actually been to a catholic mass before in your life. Anyone can partake of a blessing from the priest, non-believers and sinners alike. Now, francis has spoken about same-sex couples not being able to marry and so on in the past, he's not some bastion of liberal ideology that prots and the media make him out to be; the man still wants people to forgo condoms and birth control, still won't recognize same sex couples as being capable of being married, and still touts the supposed salvific superiority of the catholic church over other denominations and religions, just like every pope before him.
Now all that being said, will this somehow be enough to make Xerxes change teams? who's to say.

@@Extraterrestrial-Bilu A lot of presups like Jay Dyer's version which ironically boils down to "avoid giving the actual argument at all costs." He'll tell you what the argument is supposed to accomplish, and how it's supposed to work, and why you can't refute, it and how amazing it is, and how it's like Aristotle's argmument, but also Aristotle was an idiot and Jay has papers he's written to prove it, and so on. It really is the "Baffle them with BS" approach. And if you think Darth likes to load up the esoteric lingo, then you'll likely think Jay is speaking a completely different language.
As far as "good" versions of presup, I don't think I've ever encountered a remotely convincing argument, but there are actually a handful of presuppers that don't appear to be malignant narcists, determined to flog you with their apologetic. Eli from the Revealed Apologets channel and the gentleman (his name escapes me) from the Gospelogian channel both seem to be earnest in their encounters and willing to have an actual discussion instead of the usual interrogation that most presups prefer.

Bach is absolutely correct. Presup is a rock solid apologetic but people get hung up on Darth's terrible personality, even though he is an excellent theologian.

If I say "my favorite color is red" and my interlocutor uses an argument rooted in my favorite color being "not blue" and I then go "i never said that's my position, you're trying to force a position on me" it would be equivalent with what atheists commonly do against Presup. They're just not understanding implicit claims and necessary logical entailment.
No. The starting point in my worldview is that I exist. Knowledge, logic, facts etc. come from that. I don't know what the ultimate is in reality, or even if the ultimate the way presups describe it exits. This means that I can withhold judgement on god's existence even though I don't use god as the basis for facts. If based on that you claim that I deny god, you are forcing a position on me I don't have.
We know Presups will go to any lengths to pretend that Implicit and Explicit are interchangeable, thus allowing them to shift the burden onto the Atheist. It's all a shell game of definitions and word play in order to allow you to assert something without supporting it, and then claim that we can't justify anything without your unsupported assertion.
Edit: Your little analogy would be slightly more accurate if the interlocutor were making the argument that because your favorite color is "not blue" then you can't have a favorite color because according to the interlocutor, all color derives from Blue.
