      Hi, I am sorry to hear about your daughter's struggles. It's hard enough trying to communicate through a flare as an adult, I can't imagine for a 2-year-old. I have found bone broth and ginger to be very soothing. Also herbal tea (peppermint and ginger). I hope your nutritionist can help you and your daughter. There is an app I use called mySymptoms which is unbelievably good for keeping track of all things colitis related. This helps you recognize patterns over time that you otherwise may have overlooked. So I would recommend this as well. I hope someone sees your comment and is able to help you and your daughter more thoroughly!

      No processed / packaged food including bottled salad dressing, packet gravy etc. it’s all full of artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors, thickeners, emulsifiers, preservatives, GMO sugar and so called natural flavors which are not natural at all. Food fried in oil is terrible, pasta, bread, shredded cheese and deli meats are bad. If you spread your own cheese it’s better but pre shredded cheese has Maltodextrin added to stop it from clumping.
      In the beginning, chicken, beef, lamb, soft cooked vegetables are the easiest to digest. Add real healthy foods as tolerated. Limit stress. These issues are caused by vaccinations, toxins in food and stress.

    Ive been suffering from IBD for about 12 years. It appeared in my early 20s and I have been experiencing rectal bleeding more often when it does occur. An episode or flare up usually happens to me once every two weeks to a month. Ill be fine during the day of the flare up but around the evening time is when it suddenly happens and I am in a lot of pain until I get it all out. The bleeding usually occurs afterwards. I cant really afford to see a doctor regularly so I learn to live with it, hoping one day I can find something to help me through it and have less flare ups.

    • @iamchasewheeler
      @iamchasewheeler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thank you for sharing your story, it sounds like a tough time. I understand not having the money to see a doctor. Doctors visits, especially specialist, are not cheap! With that being said I highly encourage you to see one, especially with seeing blood in stool. You never want to let that go unchecked because it can lead to much greater things. Good luck and I hope you find the relief that you are looking for.

    Awesome video! Question: what do you think about high fibre foods? I just recently experienced a pretty rough flare up and delved into all things IBD as one does when experiencing a flare, and some suggest that dietary fibre is absolutely key to restoring healthy balance in gut microbiome... thoughts?

    • @iamchasewheeler
      @iamchasewheeler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Devin I agree, fiber is absolutely key to restoring healthy balance in gut microbiome. Because high fiber foods are difficult to break down, fiber is what feeds the healthy bacteria in our gut and colon. However, for this same reason I have found that high fiber foods are difficult for me to consume while in a flare. I've found that while in a flare I stick to low fiber foods (fully cooked veggies) and while not in a flare I try to consume higher fiber foods to feed my gut bacteria. I have found that others with IBD are not a sensitive, so you may do really well with high fiber foods all that time. Treat is like an experiment as see how you do. I hope this helps. Sorry for the late reply :)

    • @iamchasewheeler

      @@iamchasewheeler I’m having my first flare and symptoms ever. I’m 27 years old. I find blood and mucous in my stool. It’s sooo painful. I went to the ER and they said possible colitis. I don’t know what to do in the meantime to calm inflammation. But I cut of all lectins.

    • @iamchasewheeler
      @iamchasewheeler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This sounds very similar to my own experience. It is tough to know exactly what to eliminate because everyone's triggers will be different. Good on you for eliminating lectins. For my own journey i found that it was important to eliminate anthing that was hard to digest. In addition to lectins I got rid of dairy, sugar, gluten, fruits, and leafy vegetables. All of the vegetables I was able to consume had to be well cooked and low fiber. My basic diet was chicken and rice. Many people may disagree but when you suffer in ways we do its hard to find the right balance. One you find foods that you can keep in your body without creating blood and mucous in stool stick with those foods and don't listen to people who do not know what it is like. At least for the time that you are in a flare. @@marino_selene
