So this theme has a become a homage to his contribution in the world of knowledge. Let's never forget that, though ZUN is a musical artist, he's always been fond of sciences and especially enamored with mathematics, despite the goofy depictions of science in the Touhou universe : ZUN composed this in full awareness of who the man is, and that makes the theme even more of a proper homage.
Just her to say that Stephen Hawking died. First thing that came up was to listen to this theme in memoriam. I always knew about the guy and his works, but didn't look too far into them, and now I have both sadness and a little regret not looking too far into his works. Perhaps it would hit me in all the right ways even more if I DID bother to do so... Maybe now he can extrapolate about the stars with some of Gensokyo's best....
I think I would be really pleased and emotive if I knew a song was made for me. And for everyone to listen. But I think Hawking deserve it. He is so intelligent and made a lot of researches for space. He is truly a pearl of the world.
I think the song title refers to the fact that the wheelchair will be kind of pointless in space, since those who need one can just float around. Thus, the whimsical nature of the song.
I know i'm late to this but i'd still like to pay my respects to Stephen Hawking on this. I'd been a fan of all of ZUN's music throughout each of the games but hadn't gone further to explore the rest of his music, which is why i'm here today looking through Magical Astronomy. I think it's pretty neat that ZUN had Stephen in mind when it came to making this song, and i wish him the best from here onwards now that he has passed. tl;dr: Rest in Peace, Stephen.
Descansa en paz Hawkings... Espero que aún después de muerto tu alma puede recorrer todos los lugares que quieras recorrer... Has Sido alguien importante para la humanidad... Ahora descansa... Y por fin se libre de la enfermedad que te molestaba....
the title might've been (wouldn't be the first time that Zun has referanced real people) but I think what it's mainly showing is the fact that a wheelchair would be a fairly pointless thing in space since everyone could just float around, that's why the song sounds rather whimsical.
Yep, ZUN showing respect to Steven Hawking what a legend ZUN. I know this made long before, but man this song's soul perpose is to show respect to Stephen. Its a pretty emotional song not gonna lie
I was confused for a second there went i read the comments. I keep thinking "is there even a character named Stephen?" when i read "R.I.P Stephen", and then i read the title and went "Ah.. Stephen Hawking..."
Steven Hawking is truly the best Touhou character.
Steven Hawking's Theme: 200-Miles of Space ~ The Future's Youkai Wheelchair!
kill me if I get this wrong, I don't know much about Steven Hawking.
@@BugWalkingEncyclopedia i'd say "The Unearthing of 76 Years ~ The Wheelchair's Machinations" would fit more
@@EasternStoryGood choice.
I didn't think this day would come so soon, but
Rest in Peace, Stephen
Can't fucking believe this was 5 years ago..

Rest in piece Stephen Hawking. I will always remember you, even if I forget the spelling of your first name.

The part of the Mary/Renko story that goes with this song, is a debate as to whether this is true or not :D
And yeah, the accompanying text in magical astronomy references Hawkings as one of the greatest physicists of all time.

Rest in piece, Stephen Hawking
okina's 3rd theme
So I watched The Theory of Everything and I now cannot listen to this theme without crying
Rip Hawkings...
I swear, I keep on thinking that the beginning part of the song is from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl for some reason...
In the beginning is yumeko's theme... so many songs that sounds alike but that's no problem!
Crystal Clear I think this song is much more uplifting, but I can see your point.
I can't be the only one who hears extra mind from len'en in the background at 0:20

Okina shall make Stephen's legacy live on in Touhou.
Am I the only one who feels the title is VERY TOUCHING?
Well, considering that Steven Hawking is no longer alive as of now...
God bless him.
This sounds like a very happy and yet, curious theme. I love it!
I gotta tell you. I own the CD myself, and this one became an instant favourite.
Everyone: Stephen Hawking
Me: *crippled polnareffu*
Gensokyo residents: Okina Matara

I really like this track *-*
It sound so... clean (?) to me, it could actually be my favourite one from Magical Astronomy :33
Rest in Peace Stephen Hawking . . .
So... the recent news about Stephan Hawking are certantialy uh.. to say the least. VERY interesting.. Uh... so we all still miss him now , orrr?
The Steven Hawking on The Epstein List is unrelated to The Stephen Hawking we all know as far as I'm aware.
Wheelchair’s Future in space?
“Reimu, I broke My legs”
Rest in Peace.
I read the comments, and now I can't help but think about Stephen Hawking whenever I hear this.
And all I can hear is NJK Record's "Light Travel Distance".
Isn't it "Future Universe of Wheelchair" ?
Or maybe i was mistaken?
Holysht, Stephen Hawking's dead was 4 years ago...Times flies

Huh? Wait what th-
Oh. Oh okay.
Thank god, the start made me think this was Smooooch or something.
This theme makes me want to study about science.
Stephen Hawking, the best touhou character
I'll always associate this theme with Rei'sen since Fantasy Madien Wars used a remix as her theme.
