and, especially with what happened at Brazil; Max was truly this year's deserving champion - although Max's defending at COTA took the letter of the rules to their absolute brink (it was still all legal) Lando simply couldn't compete - partly because McLaren didn't do as good a job as Red Bull at managing their two drivers but equally because Max absolutely has the edge on him as a driver. That’s what I’ve been thinking every time he gets pissed at Carlos for having cojones. Like, if he can’t handle Carlos being a little bit rough with him, what the hell is he gonna do with Lewis who has never been afraid of pushing his teammates to the limits?
Me watching the race: Charles and Carlos are such great teammates. They work together so well, I'm going to be sad to see Carlos go after this season. Me after hearing Leclerc's radio and Sainz's post race comments: Qu'est-ce que c'est pasa?!?!
Yeah, I just learned about this watching this video right now! I would've never thought Charles would say something like that about Carlos, and I don't think he has good reason to either. As far as the viewers could tell, Carlos let him past when they asked on the radio.
@Zeverinsen There is a reason that no other top teams wanted Sainz - he's too political for his level of talent. Alas, Leclerc will be free of Sainz next season.
I think Leclerc will be in a similar position to Sainz next year, where he won't have the edge on raw natural speed compared to Lewis. Hope he can pick up some pointers from Sainz before he starts tackling Lewis, I'm sure Lewis isn't there to be a number 2.
@@jamesheller6423I disagree, I think Leclerc will absolutely humble Hamilton. And I‘m not the biggest of Leclerc fans. Just compare Lewis to Russel atm. And this is Leclerc we‘re talking about
They don't have one at all. At least according to verstappen. They didn't have one in Monza and now in Las Vegas. Had to do with the cost cap or something.
The tickets aren’t selling because they’ve priced everyone out. Semi local to Las Vegas and it’s less expensive for me to fly to just about any other GP
I didn't notice Leclerc acting up on the radio, and I'm honestly a bit disappointed by how Ferrari and Leclerc treated Carlos this race. Carlos deserved a podium today, and I firmly believe he would've gotten 2nd place if they let him pit before Lewis. I like Charles, but this was very disappointing. Also, a Las Vegas finale? No way! I'm not getting up that early.
But he didn’t ignore team orders. He was told to let Charles pass, but do so carefully because Hamilton was right behind Charles. One lap later, he let Charles past. He was told not to put pressure on Charles after Charles came out of the pits (Charles, meanwhile, was initially told that Carlos was instructed not to pass him, which which was not what Carlos was told) Carlos never put pressure on Charles. Putting pressure on somebody is fighting with them, keeping close behind and battling to overtake. That’s not what happened. Carlos was right behind Charles when Charles came out of the pits, and Charles was going slowly on cold tires while Carlos was going at speed. There was no pressure, no battle - Carlos simply went flying past the much slower car. Nobody being told “don’t put pressure on him” would have reasonably interpreted that to mean if he happens to come out directly ahead of you, drastically slow down to stay behind him.
Charles should man up, if he wants to finish P2 in the WDC he should have passed Carlos on pace and merit. Even after Carlos got screwed over that pit call, he still finished ahead of Charles.
@@PG-20”on merit” LOL. Ferrari told Leclerc not to fight Sainz before they got to Max. Charles let Sainz through in the beginning and was under the impression he wouldn’t have to defend coming out of the pits. There was absolutely nothing on merit about it.
I think people keep forgetting that Colapinto’s been in his seat not even half a season and is in fact still a rookie who’s just entered F1. He’s over all, in the 11 races he’s been, doing pretty well with one DNF. In the same amount of races, his predecessor had five DNFs in 2023.
Sainz didn't get a penalty because there is no rule that says you can't cross the pit lane line like that. It only says that you can't cross it when you're *entering* the pits. It can only be penalised when the Race Director's Notes say otherwise - and this week's didn't.
@SuperMarkizas Sainz is incredibly political for his level of talent. Sainz and his father fumbled the drive at Ferrari by overplaying his hand with Vasseur... Vasseur quickly puts a 7x WDC in the car, and Sainz can't find a better drive than Williams.
Yes, McLaren was really lacking in pace, but you gotta be fair, Law... Lando had enough pace to go for that 3rd pitstop and still come out 5 seconds ahead of Oscar towards the end.
@@LawVS He did do better than last year... I can still see the sparks from last year's crash when I close my eyes. Fortunately that didn't happen this year. It would have been a shame to decide the championship fight mid-race!
So? Doesn't really matter or mean anything. McLaren just weren't good around here and (Oscar in particularly because he had a lower DF setup) were struggling for grip.
The Ferrari pitwall was a clownshow today. Both the drivers did the best they could. I would put it entirely on the pitwall for whatever happened today rather than either of the drivers.
I agree, it seems they fumbled this race and made some miscommunications especially to the drivers, hence the Csquared drama. But seriously, not ready for pit when they actually called Carlos to pit? That's a pre-Fred Ferrari mistake. For every good result, it seems there would be several bad results where they are back to their old bad habits.
Red Bull didn't develop a low drag rear wing due to it only been used at Monza and Las Vegas. In these events they brought a modifiable rear wing so the development time didn't come out of the development recourses.
Carlos isn't Charles' problem... it's the team and their slow reactions. The issues with the Ferrari's this race were avoidable and would have been avoided if they had listened to Sainz.
Leclerc brought his problems on himself. He ruined his tyres pushing too hard which led to him finishing behind Sainz. Yet again Leclerc's own mistakes cost him - which is why I have repeatedly said he'll never be champion. Sainz is the one who should be angry at the treatment by Ferrari today. That pit mistake from the team which could have cost him a penalty for crossing the white line, the team not listening to his calls to pit which potentially cost him, and then being told not to overtake Leclerc. Sainz deserved his third place today.
I agree carlos deserved the third place today. i disagree with the " he will never be world champion" ... he has the speed, he knows how to trait the tires(in a normal race) he is being the best of the rest this year, he is being better than carlos(which destroyed more cars this year) and the same number of victories as Norris. He already beat Vertappen in some races(carlos never did). But yeah he needs to improve this "nice guy" thing for sure, and be more rude in mentality, and of course, stop to make the little mistakes. If damon hill and Villeneuve were world champions, Leclerc for sure can be as well. But i respect ur opinion tho.
Leclerc made no mistake, no one knew what to expect from the tyres today. Idk why you people constantly have to label stuff Leclerc does as "mistakes", he doesn't crash anymore so you people have to find other things to nitpick to continue this idea of a driver making constant mistakes to fuel your hate at the idea of him winning a championship. Where were you last race in Brazil where sainz crashed twice? Also look at the head to heads this year, Leclerc has destroyed Sainz. This team radio is a good sign, it means he's finally learning to be more selfish.
@@elianioriofarrell agreed! Being pushy / demanding on the team is where Charles has really lacked during race conditions: compared to current greats (results wise at least - ignoring subjective bias' as we shouod) like Max, Fernando, Lewis and even the last world champ he beat in his own team (Seb) back when they were team mates. Carlos has almost always been far more demanding mid-race than Charles ever has which is why Carlos garnered such applause for his pushiness on the team at Silverstone last year which led to him winning due to contravening the Ferrari pit wall strategists and making his own calls. Charles might finally be taking heed of this; being a people pleaser (even within your own team) will not give you a loud enough voice, and with Lewis joining Ferrari next year (who is very vocal - to the point of many F1 fans seeming him as being whiney/complaining; as indeed have Verstappen, Alonso, Vettel, Schumacher and other champions), Charles is almost certainly going to need to drop the nice guy of the paddock perception and get more feral and toothy... ...Seeing him become more demanding and selfish is really what he needs to be if he truly wants to become a world champion; a detail I think that he earned after defeating Sebastian Vettel when Ferrari was very definitely Seb's team as the number 1 driver.
Yeah, they did well with that. They have to handle the fact that the wdc was won by a driver not on the podium, without stealing the thunder of the driver who actually won the race. I remember that being a bit of a weird situation in the 2018 Mexican GP. Lewis celebrating took away from the podium ceremony. Mind you, I'm not blaming Lewis for this. The organizers should have had some idea in place. Vegas did that very well!
Well done Vegas. Wasn’t perfect as they had to adjust and squeeze the three winners into one limo, but really shows that they’re thinking on their feet and do justice to the headline WDC win.

Lewis wasn’t going to fight George, George had pace to pull away from the field early and was preserving his tires the second half of the race on the hards. So if Lewis qualified higher, George still had pace to stay ahead. Would have been interesting but no slam dunk for Lewis.
@@TheNorville2, the fact that Lewis never made it closer than 5 seconds to Russell shows that GR had plenty of pace in store. Sainz had every right not to yield. Leclerc was out of the championship so it didn't actually matter which order the Farraris finished, so long as they got 3rd and 4th, it makes no difference to the constructors.
Also, after the first stint, they pitted Leclerc before Sainz, even though Sainz was in front and also indicated his tyres were fried. So basically, they try to let Leclerc undercut his teammate, screw up Sainz' pitstop, give Sainz team orders to let Leclerc through twice and Charles still complain. They should have a talk...
Also if the radio came anywhere near how it played on tv the timing of the radio was just wrong, SAniz got the message not to pas Charles, when he was already pasing him
Leclerc cooked his tires fighting Russell at the front. I am almost suspicious he got floor damage tangling with Russell with how quickly he fell off. It was a night and day difference.
I think the relief with RB is so big not because McLaren was on top for months, but because Verstappen wasn't in the fight. He was a sitting duck at a certain point, he was not able to defend his gap to Norris. They must have felt it was just happening to them rather than just on the backfoot.
I don't think Vegas can be the last race when they keep adding races to the schedule and that pushes the date back which will make an already controversial track conditions even worse.
Yeah... No way Las Vegas can be the final race AND be a night race. That's just unnecessarily dangerous AND annoying for the majority of the viewers who have to get up before the baker starts to see live.
The only issue with having Vegas as the last race of the season is WEATHER. The average high is 57F/14C & the average low is 39F/4C. So uh, while the glitz and glamor and spectacle says its a good idea, its winter in a desert.
I've been watching F1 for 40 years. I always end up getting bored of dominance and end up disliking drivers who win all the time. Senna changed that for me. Once we lost him, I realized how great he was. I promised I would never do that again. I did with Schuey. Not with Max though. He has shown over and over how completely dominant he is. No teammate can compete with him. He truly is a generational talent. Good luck to anyone who pairs up with him next year.
Yeah I didn't expect much from Lawson tbf, Vegas is def an outlier in terms of the challenges it brings with it (Weird temps leading to heavy reliance on tyre control mixed with the lack of experience in the car compared to Tsunoda) idk it just was never gonna be a stunner. Could probably have done better than he did though
Yeah, you missed the boat with that comment. He got where he was because the team decided to roll the dice and throw him into the one stop strateby. - one stop means run slower, but get a higher position because you don't have to pit - then they pitted him way late at which point he was going to the back of the field. - i fthe one stop worked it would have been interesting. A bad team call. But that's F1. He did real well.

I would love to see Verstappen vs Alonso. In 2021 or 2022 Verstappen was asked by Ziggo (Dutch Tv station) if there was an F1 driver (besides his dad) that he idealized. His answered that he didn't idolized any driver, but Verstappen did said that of all F1 driver he liked & respected Alonso the most. For his character, racing craft; and because Alonso doesn't holds back any punches on and of the track. They showed Alonso the footage, who was pleasantly surprised; and loved it that Verstappen placed him on such a high pedestal. So yeah it would be awesome if these two Alpha's could square off against each other next season for a proper title fight.
ALONSO NEEDS A COMPETITIVE CAR MAN. Him and Max feel like two drivers MEANT to fight. They are alike in so many ways, in terms of history and style, attitude, struggles, etc. If Alonso leaves without ever being able to mount a challenge after 2012, it would be a tragedy.
You really think a 44-45 year old Alonso is going to challenge a peak Verstappen across a season given similar performing cars? 2010 Alonso, sure, 2024 Alonso, not so much.
@@BrokeAndSquare No, I don't think he would win, but I can dream of a fight. And Lewis and Fernando have shown that they are capable of racing at a high caliber at this age. Frankly, the idea that Lewis is people's hope for a championship in the next couple years says enough on that front. I do wish that the matchup could have happened around 2021/22, but obviously that wasn't on. An ideal season to me would be one with Alonso in a similar position to where Norris was this year. Or even a slightly worse car, tbeh. He was a top 3 driver last year, I think it's reasonable to say he's still capable of putting on a show.
Love the channel, but just a tiny tip: put your camera in manual focus, so it will not focus hunt on your ladder, background, face, etc. Especially the camera behind the ladder (filming through it) keeps focus hunting in the beginning :)
Congratulations to Russell on providing a complete surprise drive this weekend. This must be Russell's all time best drive, under difficult tire management conditions.
I was going to suggest swapping COTA and Vegas, get slightly milder weather for COTA and a warmer Vegas. I'm on board with the reasoning behind making it the final race but I wonder if F1 can afford for it to be even more brisk later in the year.
I think after the hype of the mid season swap of Colapinto is starting to fade, people are remembering what type of team Williams has been for years now. Don't forget Vowles told they were using Excel to keep inventory at the factory when he arrived. I wonder how much of that repair bill was caused by drivers overdriving to extract anything from that car. And unlike Sauber/Audi they are not having upcoming positive news or partnerships on the factory side of things. Even Alpine will get competent engines in 2026 with Mercedes. I feel Williams can be left behind hard in the coming years much like they were suffering before the Dorilton adquisition 😢
Williams will be a front running team soon. They are laying the ground work to be World Champions and JV is the guy to do it. There focs is 2026 and are putting very little into this year.
@@takumifujiwara13954 yeah that happens all the time with CEO changes 😂. But at least most people and analysts consider it a boost for the team since they are joining with a larger entity. Likely because they are focusing on 2025 but still it fell apart a bit in the end.
@@desshinnick9365 many teams with the same approach don't think Williams is the only one "focusing on 2026". I really hope Vowles can turn the team around, but there's sure work to be done still in many areas besides the car.

I saw from the post race interview that Mclaren finally found pace nearing the end of the race. Apparently, the engineers tweak a lot of things in the car mid race settings wise on top of Lando changing driving styles. Andrea said he was equal on pace with George but unfortunately it was too late. Hopefully the car will be more competitive next year for both Lando and Oscar !
They changed some setting WHEN THE CAR BECAME LIGHTER at the end of the race… the McLaren is always faster on lighter fuel than high fuel, compared to other teams.
Meanwhile on the same weekend WRC had the driver's championship and Constructor's championship change on the final day, all as a result of a single crash.
I feel like people forget that they were a few weekends where McLaren where actually dominant and some of the race where they were the fastest redbull were still competitive relative to the field. The rb20 was utterly dominant in the first 8th races. Was also pretty strong in Spain, imola, canada, and Austria. Plus Mercedes and Ferrari were close enough to pounce on a mistake made by the McLaren strategy team. Nonetheless, i never felt Lando could beat Max but the gap still being the same since Austria is definitely horrible on Lando’s side with him fumbling chances like silverstone, Baku, Brazil, spa, e.t.c
I don't think it's a mistake that they didn't have the correct wing with them; they simply didn't make a wing for this circuit because, due to the budget cap, they prioritized other things. That's quite a difference.
Regarding Carlos, he got the radio message that he shouldn't attack CHarles, when he already was in the attack, at least that is how it played out on tv, so if he gets the message too late than its not really his fault or thick headedness.
Radio messages are ALWAYS delayed by like 2-5 minutes. So Carlos ignored that. I welcome, no more mr nice guy Leclerc, especially since he has Lewis next years, and he won't pull any punches.

I'm delighted you mentioned the -for me- overtake of the race, lap 38 Checo on Lawson and Magnussen. 2 drivers who I'm sure are known for able to sticking out their elbows. it's sad that I noticed on Dutch tv channels NOS (public channel) and Ziggo this moment was not included in their "highlights" summary! completely ignored!! I have no doubt about that being done deliberately otherwise they'd have to say something positive about the Mexican driver.
Ferrari in my opinion got lucky with the third and fourth place when Charles begged for his first pit stop and Sainz begged for the second but the team was more looking at the end of the race rather then the current situation, Charles had no speed after his attempt to chase down Russel for first position in the first couple of laps, and still wasn't pitted when requested. and when Sainz on the second stint requested and even demanded to be pitted Ferrari was more concerned with swapping the cars on track and not just send Sainz to the pit and when he was on his way in they told him to stay out almost to late because the pit Crew hadn't been told to go out and expect Sainz yet. Basically Ferrari put them self in a situation that could have destroyed any other team but because of the speed they had, they was able to claw back a decent position for both their drivers
I really do not like the point of 'If Ferrari pit Sainz when he wanted'. Exactly same happen to Charles first stint. He was losing 3s a lap and begging to be pitted. That same simulation likely would have put him in second place.
Yeah all fairness to Vegas, I concede to the fact it has given us a pretty solid race with very little hiccups and no life threating events for the drivers. I really would not mind it having the finale of the season. It would be a damn size better than the likes of Abu Dhabi or Jedah. And to your point Laws, we have plenty of tracks deserving of being the final race of the season but only one gets that honor. But its better for the sport as a whole that we get these brilliant tracks spread throughout the season.
@@yoeriw7099true, but also George was one of the few drivers who didn’t go over track limits last year, so if the same rules are in place, could make it interesting
I haven’t heard anyone really mention Martin Brundle. I know it’s the least important or newsworthy event of the weekend, but I was so happy for Martin this weekend. I don’t agree with everything he says and all of his takes, but it’s always nice to see somebody living their best life and enjoying it. Last year Vegas treated him extremely well and that dude was glowing. This year Vegas doubled down and set up an extremely wonderful helicopter experience for him on top of a back country flight. This dude was a journeyman, blue collar driver who somehow got himself into announcing and developed quite the gig at Sky Sports. Now he’s being treated better than royalty and you can see that he knows how extraordinarily lucky he is and that he’s making the most of it. If you’re not into flying it might be difficult to appreciate how rare it can be for a hobby flyer to get to fly a UH-60 performing a special type of mission where they get to drop off skydivers over a major city in the middle of a desert and near the Sierra Nevadas. That’s a fairly big helicopter and it’s expensive to fly compared to smaller helicopters and trainers. Old Blackhawks are super common, so a professional pilot probably wouldn’t consider it a life experience, but it certainly is a life’s dream for a private pilot and an enthusiast.
I love charles but his cribbing on the radio was unbearable. He was acting entitled. If he wanted to be on the podium , it should’ve been on the basis of his own merit and not team orders or “Niceness”. I felt bad for sainz. He deserves better.
The one thing they need to change about Vegas is the whole interview and podium mess. Either do the interviews at the finish line, like in every other place or move the podium to Bellagio. Given the emotion of a good race and a championship clincher, it really didn't feel good to spend what felt like half an hour waiting for the drivers to be moved back and forth so the ceremonies can finish.
With an extremely compromised car, seven tenths off on the straight, Max still managed to keep Ferrari behind him until the last 8 laps and seal a 4th consecutive world championship. I'd say that's something to write home about.
It's not that Red Bull forgot a wing, they typically haven't needed to build a Monza/Vegas/Baku wing because their DRS advantage was so big. Now that the other teams caught up, Red Bull can't get away with that cost savings choice anymore.
If checo instead of passing that masterful overtake has had crashed, perhaps would allow Verstappen to get 4th or 3rd and get more points for red bull xD

Ferrari have just continued to disrespect Carlos and screw up strategies this season so I do not blame him at all for ignoring team orders
But he didn’t ignore team orders.
He was told to let Charles pass, but do so carefully because Hamilton was right behind Charles. One lap later, he let Charles past.
He was told not to put pressure on Charles after Charles came out of the pits (Charles, meanwhile, was initially told that Carlos was instructed not to pass him, which which was not what Carlos was told)
Carlos never put pressure on Charles.

Yuki really deserves Checo's seat
I think people keep forgetting that Colapinto’s been in his seat not even half a season and is in fact still a rookie who’s just entered F1. He’s over all, in the 11 races he’s been, doing pretty well with one DNF. In the same amount of races, his predecessor had five DNFs in 2023.

Sainz didn't get a penalty because there is no rule that says you can't cross the pit lane line like that. It only says that you can't cross it when you're *entering* the pits. It can only be penalised when the Race Director's Notes say otherwise - and this week's didn't.

And yet he said he wasn't bothered about the words.

Yeah that's true. I think he's realised he now needs to be more spontaneous and not be afraid to annoy the pitwall for his own benefit.

Not with Max though. He has shown over and over how completely dominant he is. No teammate can compete with him. He truly is a generational talent. Good luck to anyone who pairs up with him next year.

Basically Ferrari put them self in a situation that could have destroyed any other team but because of the speed they had, they was able to claw back a decent position for both their drivers

they said so themselves, the hotter tracks don't suit the car
1:35 the entire rear E R R O R package... Well said.
I love charles but his cribbing on the radio was unbearable. He was acting entitled. If he wanted to be on the podium , it should’ve been on the basis of his own merit and not team orders or “Niceness”. I felt bad for sainz. He deserves better.
The Katy Perry setup and punchline made me choke on my pasta bro. Damn you Ladderman!
The thought of verstappen and alonso battling for a championship just gets me going man, i cant wait!
I think Yuki deserves the Red Bull seat more than Lawson. If it doesn't work out, they can switch it around in '26.
9:57 lovely meme insert 🤌
I’m just a chill guy fr 🤷🏽♂️
If F1 is going to use the Las Vegas GP as it's penultimate race in the future then Pirelli is going to have to develop some Ice tires. 🥶
Pirelli do have some good winter tires😂
