hello friend, congratulations on your work! I would like to ask you, I have the same engine in my Astra 1.7cdti 74kw and I see here on the video that it has hydraulic lifters. I am interested in whether the valves should be adjusted on this engine? Because I have a feeling that they are heard when it is cold and sometimes when the engine is warmed up? and finally how reliable are these engines? thanks in advance for your reply and congratulations

      Hello friend,
Thank you so much for your message and for your congratulations, I really appreciate it!
To answer your question, yes, the engine in your Astra 1.7cdti 74kw does have hydraulic lifters. Generally, engines with hydraulic lifters do not require manual valve adjustments, as these lifters are designed to automatically compensate for wear and maintain the correct valve clearances.
However, if you are hearing valve noises when the engine is cold or even when it is warmed up, this might indicate a potential issue. It could be due to worn hydraulic lifters or oil not reaching the upper engine components properly. I recommend first checking the level and quality of your engine oil and ensuring you are using the oil type recommended by the manufacturer.
Regarding the reliability of these engines, they are generally considered robust and reliable if well-maintained. Regular maintenance, including oil changes and filter replacements, is crucial to keep the engine performing well and prolong its lifespan.
I hope this answers your questions. Feel free to reach out if you need more information or further assistance.
Thanks again for your message and your kind words!

      Hello,
Thank you for your comment! I understand your concern. In the video, the camshaft pulley does not have a protective plastic cover behind it. When reassembling, the camshaft pulley will be tightened onto the camshaft directly.
If you're removing the cylinder head, you will indeed need to remove the camshaft pulley. Here are the general steps:
      1. Remove the timing belt or chain: Before you can remove the camshaft pulley, you need to remove the timing belt or chain. Make sure to mark the timing positions if you plan to reuse the belt or chain.
      2. Loosen the camshaft pulley bolt: Use the appropriate tool to loosen the bolt holding the camshaft pulley. It may be necessary to hold the camshaft in place to prevent it from turning.
      3. Remove the pulley: Once the bolt is loose, you can remove the camshaft pulley from the camshaft.
      4. Remove the cylinder head bolts: With the camshaft pulley removed, you can proceed to remove the bolts securing the cylinder head.
      5. Remove the cylinder head: Carefully lift the cylinder head from the engine block.
Make sure to follow any specific procedures outlined in your vehicle's repair manual, as there can be variations depending on the engine model. If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, feel free to ask.
Good luck with your repair, and let us know whether you succeeded! :)

Hi! It’s an angle wrench for square torque wrench. It is used for the angular tightening of the cylinder head bolts.
