I was born in Wavertree in the late 50's and as I grew up in the 60's my mother and next door neighbour both worked at this factory and I was one spoilt little boy getting the new cars the week they were released, I only wish I had them all now. Great memories seeing some of those cars again.
Thanks for sharing your story. Getting new cars as they were released must have been awesome. It's sad that there is very few pictures and video clips of the factory.

I totally agree, it would be fantastic to have a dedicated museum for Meccano made products, Dinky Toys, Hornby Trains and Hornby Dublo, plus the original construction system itself. There are some small displays in the Museum of Liverpool (at the waterfront), but not much detail.

i am 61 I collect mainly played with Dinkys, because that's what they were made for. I like them to be played and yet cared for.
Great to hear that you collect Dinky's. They are great toys to play with.
The Jerry Anderson collection were the best for me,my favourite was captain scarlets spv,followed by thunderbird 2 and Joe 90s car.
The Thunderbirds were great....I remember watching the TV show.

New high quality Dinky vehicles being manufactured in China currently. Just discovered them on eBay and ordered some. Quality is excellent. Comes with nice boxes and the prices are very reasonable. They appear to be made for the French market under Editions Atlas / Mattel. I don’t understand why it’s just the French market but that is how it is currently. Check it out though and be prepared to be surprised. I sure was. 🦉

Atlas has been around for a while. They are great and I have bought some myself. Some collectors buy them for parts for restoring antique Dinky's but I find it hard to brake apart a perfectly good toy model.
