Leading to hot wheels(the ones i had the most of) being one of my favorite types of toys to play with. Even the cheap plastic ones from dollar tree, i even past a lot of mine to my younger family members
What charming film footage. It makes a great hobby to find an old toy car, strip it down and repaint and restore them to as new condition 😀 makes a great display when finished.
I expect this must be the Lesney factory on the edge of Hackney marshes. We used to live about half a mile away. My mum worked there but I can't pick her out in the film. She used to bring home some of the discarded seconds for me. I had a bucket full of Matchbox cars.
Easily removed??? I counted at least 20 people at 1:18. That is just the removal stage. Imagine staffing a production line like that today. No wonder the factories are all overseas now!
Can you imagine? "You want me to put those things in these things? Haven't you got workers to do that sort of thing? ... I was hired as one? I thought you just wanted me to wander around looking gorgeous!"
I think it is the fact that they are now made using cheap materials and cheap labour in China and lack the passion and care that domestic workers had. BTW CAD still requires a human designer, it can't be done by a computer (yet).
CAD is not the problem, the problem some times are the designers of some cars, because actually we can find great castings in the mainline of matchbox and other ones that are bad.. That happends too in those old years of 60s, so many great castings and also there was bad castings and the problem was originated by the designer. So CAD is not the problem.
Could you imagine getting a nice one made of that wonderful shiny metal, and ornately painted wheels with a streamlined foundation and a pop of color in them (like a 1937 Packard rim set) or some other fancy grand choice to separate from the chromed surface of the body. Oh I'd be real swell if they would of done that, but the companies of China decided to destroy MatchBox, aaand real automobiles to the plastic nightmare melting pancakes on ugly wheels you see today.
Children let me tell you a story, Many , many years ago the uk used to make things and employ people making things , all this is just History now , such a shame .
I never tire of watching Pathe films. Love everything about them.
You never see people protesting with the cameraman about being filmed do you?
Its a gem
All pepsi ?
Legendary British toymaker that gave immense pleasure to many .

had loads of these in the 50s, all went somewhere.
1:27- Those beautiful Jag XKE's! (Swoon!)
I bought one from an antiques shop a couple of years ago. Can't tell which of these it is though.
Thank you , I was playing matchbox cars when I was little , and my son play match box cars too now , thank you

Very nice you can tell a lot of passion went into making them!
My friend Carol is in this film on 2.01 approx wearing dark blue , red hair

Exploring Into Cars Oh pk
Found her she looks so pretty
Great footage. Those lovely cars were my favourites in my childhood. I’m a huge fan of the 1-75 line up of the 70s.
Very interesting on how Matchbox Cars were made back then.
Awesome i love watching videos like this, 2024 and they're STILL Interesting!
Почти полностью ручной труд ! Сколько тепла и души вложено в простые игрушки 🧸! От такой игрушки и ребёнок по другому будет воспринимать этот мир ✌️

0:30 die making. That explains why panel lines were often raised on die cast models and plastic model kits, I'd often wondered.
My haven, still love them.
Excellent !!
I love matchbox cars!
This is fantastic 👍
Very good !!
love this video

Kenapa matchbox yg model vintage&classic Cars tidak beredar di Indonesia?padahal banyak penggemarnya.....
These people took their job very seriously. Would love to work there.
If you want the job now it's in China !!
Fantastic to see this
Neat. Filling each die with a kitchen ladle? And the women sorting (they all looked so nice) must have had a lot of splinters from lack of gloves.
Oh my, every kids dreamplace. 😊❤️👍
Great film, these classic diecast cars just have something that modern diecast is lacking, perhaps being
designed by a Human verses a CAD Computer ?
I think it is the fact that they are now made using cheap materials and cheap labour in China and lack the passion and care that domestic workers had. BTW CAD still requires a human designer, it can't be done by a computer (yet).
CAD is just a tool... blame MODERN car design... or just blame yourself for having a preference on older car designs...

So CAD is not the problem.
I have to say though, today’s model cars are near perfect, in every detail!
Think what one of those 1960s designers could have done with modern CAD.
A Heels Up Harris ad takes the fun out of any video, thanks for nothing You-Tube!
Would like this to have been a far more detailed look at how these die-cast models are made from start to finish.
Very cool 👍
cool video
What a fun job.
great! thx
I bet those Coronation coach models are worth a fortune now.
One mint and boxed set featured on tv's Bargain Hunt recently fetching £100
@@billgriffiths1685 Wow, that sounds a bit low.
@@dellawrence4323 there's one on Ebay now for £32 + £3 delivery. Have a look.
It's amazing how many people that worked in factories like that... Way before automation.
Belle vidéo
Is there a way to watch the full documentary?
I would love to get my hand on the moulds.
I have in mind; running a hobby store, that's why I mentioned 1/24th scale die cast metal models.
There would be a time machine, for a week to fly in this factory of cars-to type, for memory!
2:13 she was the factories hottie!
What’s the name of the music played in this film
Eeee ... them were the days!!
Good old times
Love you
Realmente very good working 👍👌👷🏢💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎
wow respect these guys who used no CAD 😢. legendary! catia, nx etc.. these are your great great grandfather ya.😊
My Nan worked in the Lesney's factory (Matchbox) I wonder if she's in this film?
Matchbox ❤️Vintage Retro Cars
What kind of pot metal used?
Aluminium
ZAMAK, actually. It's a zinc alloy made with mostly zinc, a little aluminum, magnesium, and copper.@Ivorbiggin
I loved the way egg heads used to wear white coats.
When the die - cast cars was "Made in England" 👍🏻

Proper, realistic looking toy cars. None of that plastic cartoony rubbish you see on toy shelves now.
Imagine one of those hot workers bringing home one piece at a time and it won't cost you a dime....
And he'd have the only one there is around
I know I’m a year late but I see what you did there
😁👍Brilliant.
Brilliant... I saw most of mine in there! 😏
Hermosos carritos 😍
