    I actually saw one of the PAF Mirages over Karachi while visiting last week! Great to see this. Will have to go to the air museum when I go back next time, looks pretty amazing from the outside.

    Great conclusion to a cracking interview. Very interesting what Sonny said about the stability of delta winged types such as the Mirage III/5. Many of us were led to believe such wings gave a very bad gust response. It just goes to show it pays to listen to pilots who've actually flown these types.
    Readers are leaders. Nice line to quote there.

    • @fahadmasood1111
      @fahadmasood1111 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes... I also believe tailless delta planforms have been utilized in various means to achieve ends of high instantaneous turn rate especially by Dassault Mirages till date but sustained with canards and leading edge flaps is the go-to solution from slow speed maneuvering

    • @davidsmith8997
      @davidsmith8997 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have thought the same thing about gust response. I guess it depends on wing loading and maybe heavier Mirages (5s?) are better that way?

    I used to work near Masroor airbase in Karachi, and it was so loud in the morning beacuse of these mirages coming to land at base that we have to go inside to hold meetings.Outside meeting was not an option, but it was a great sight to watch.

    Fantastic interview, I didn’t realise how capable the Mirage was at low level, and interesting choice that Fahad would choose to fly a J-10

      J-10CE is the latest in jet to bore holes in the skies of south Asia... shows a lot of potential because of its high-end avionic packages... on the other hand, Mirages are old skool... but they still slash and dash very well!

    14:21 that was interesting because of delta wing design every mirage or delta wing design jet pilot would love to fly the upgrade that delta with canards wing come up with like Rafael, Eurofighter Typhoon and J10C offer

      As mentioned before... 4.5 gen aircrafts offer a lot more than maneuverability... now it is a matter of employment rather than 'seat of the pants' flying and dogfighting

    The comment on J-10c is quite interesting as its a design who's in's and outs are known only by the Chinese or now by the Pakistani's. PAF was looking at that air craft for quite some time and now they have that bird in their hand. Being PAF, surely they must have a wider role for it as they are a bit of low on cash.
    We have quite a lot of knowledge on Western types, but the Chinese types are shrouded in mystery. There was one of F-7 (Mig-21 copy). One article on Jf-17(Block 1) with Huskit. The data set is too low on the Chinese types.
    J-10c in PAF have been seen in two camo's. One is A2A standard PAF grey camo and the other is the jungle green Mirage type camo. It will be interesting to know about those and the experience of the pilots on them.
    Also now there are Korean Jets that have won a contract in Malaysia. Find out some one who can share his experience on that as well.
    We would also like to hear any IAF pilot experiences with the Tejas. How is it compared to the aircraft its intended to replace. BVR and VR experiences in it.
    In the end, its exciting to hear about the aircrafts that are in the niche areas of the far furlong air forces. Especially where they are a bit of cash strapped and come up with innovative ideas and strategies.
