Need to hear more on the DACT done with F-7PG/P and if they did any with the newly inducted JF-17 at that time. It seems that in PAF, every pilot is made to fight the F-16 even if they are flying the C-130 transport :).
The stories I have heard on this channel especially from PAF is that PAF is very keen on having pilots skilled in Air to Air role regardless of the type flown. The bomb rehearsal is done as an after thought. Like in the start, the early days all pilots were pitched against Sarfaraz Rafique or Flt Lt Younas who were the best of the best just to try to over power them. Then came the Combat commanders school which is all DACT (its like even if you have a stick please fight this F-16).
I have read stories like PAF using mirage's to target the US Navy mighty carriers and successfully doing it in bilateral exercises [They flew so low and in tight formation that the carrier air defense was not able to pick them up. Some of the PAF Mirages then popped up to distract the air defenses while the others pressed on with the Exocets].
Also there was one in which PAF knowing their Mirage was inferior to the mighty F-14 tomcats and devising a way in an bilateral exercise in which the kill ratio was 2:1 in US favor when even most of the NATO countries had 18:1 in US favor. [They flew in such a close formation that the tomcats took them as 1. When he targeted 1, the other Mirage targeted the F-14, then getting targeted himself by the other tomcat].

that wasnt F14 rather a F15......It was from the same mid flank exe in 78. F15 was touring the world, USAF was showing it to allies in these exercises inorder to win some export contract. After finishing with NATO countries they came in Asia where we were one of the countries selected for exe.
And that USN Carrier thingy is from Mid Flank exe from 90s, i think in 95?
After that though USN had to upgrade the carriers (if im not wrong) to detect extremely low flying objects....actually the carrier's radar failed to detect them that's why ADS of carrier respond at the time till it was too late. Americans were totally relying on the carrier's radars.
It was bit of like this:
      th-cam.com/video/0SXHKLD_TCg/w-d-xo.html
BTW this is no longer possible with their carriers anymore, they have updated them since.
