The majority of the village pictures are from a nice spot in Bulgaria called Melnik. This summer I met a small dog there called Sharo. We hung out for a bit. I fed him some of my lunch. He seemed quite satisfied and went to sleep. All in all it was a good day.

Often death is from deficiency, some thing missing that causes a living thing's foundation to form holes which will inevitably cause it to crumble, naturally life was shaped by the harsh, cyclic conditions of a world driven by disorder, but if all needs were fulfilled a living thing would then live forever.
In the end all starve, slowly with holes begetting holes faster than they can be fixed. To make a system that will not crumble, it requires indefinite self-improvement and the improvement of its surroundings.

@@Beyond_XP The snake is you. The snake is very much real, and you create it within yourself.
The lesson is to realize it, deal with it, and not to waste your life looking for meaning in things that happen. Absurdism is the red thread with exurb1a. Well, the base. Reality is a wonder in itself, there's not enough life in a person for them to not explore possibility.
From what I gather, he's interested in letting people wonder about whatever it is they want to. But to successfully do that, one needs to let go of things like finding the evil, searching for god, etc.
I hope that helps the understanding a bit. The snake is within us all, it's the analogy for obsession, rage, and resentfulness over essentially meaningless things. People die, how or why doesn't matter. Honor them if you feel like it, but that also doesn't matter in the end. I remember my mom, she passed before I became an adult; and I make sure she'd have been proud. But I'm not mad at cancer, resentful for doctors not discovering at a saveable state, and I refuse to hate myself for not being there when she died. Stuff happened, horrible stuff. But stuff nonetheless, and that's all there is to it.
The real meaning is the one you create for yourself, and when you realise that, you'll truly be okay.
Just live, now. Live in the moment, explore whatever, and have fun when you can. I choose to help others, and I'm doing good by the standards I set.

We'll all waste our time thinking of existential bullshit, wondering if we ever truly matter to the universe.
The truth is, we don't matter to the universe. We matter to each other. We matter to the people who love us, and those people matter to us because we love them, too.

This video made me realize that my beliefs that I was so confident about not even an hour ago are meaningless. I thought that I was satisfied with knowing that there's no reason for us to be here, and that's okay. But I realized that this whole time I was still looking for a meaning, and if I couldn't find one, I'd make one up. I think that deep down I believed that the meaning was to understand and know all, as has always been my goal. I never thought about how that belief is an insatiable one, one that can only lead to unhappiness, dissatisfaction, and even despair, just like if I had an insatiable lust for power like the kings and dictators of the past. I don't know what to think anymore. I understand why philosophers have always struggled with the question of the meaning of life now. I'm just rambling now, but I think this video really did change my life, or at least my outlook on it. I don't know anymore

    • @Coppermeshman
      @Coppermeshman 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Often people ask more questions than they even bother answering. I once heard conversations about the meaning of life, but each argument was self contradictory, and the counterarguments were no better, each didn't seem to get the point of each concept they referencing.
The Meaning of a concept, of a thing, would only make sense if it was self referencial, self evident,
as a hammer hit, a knife cuts, a bed to be Slept on,
In the end Life, all the forms it takes regardless seem to always direct to a goal.
      The act of continuing.
The meaning of life is to live,
How to live? Many forms take many techniques, all in attempt to improve one's ability to continue, because the things that don't hold of improve one's ability, don't exist anymore.

I'm in a time of my life where I'm currently questioning if I should continue on or not, as everything has just gotten so tiring and stressing for me. Even daily routines feel like a chore to do now, and the constant dread of "something bad might happen today" is always weighing me down in everything and anything I do.
Listening to this made me, undoubtedly sob, but also made me feel a whole lot better on this entire situation I'm in. You made me remember that things aren't always supposed to be good and that bad things do happen, but in the end; if I let myself, I'll be okay.

The end reminded me really strongly of Jung's idea of the collective unconscious. How every human resorts to the archetypes to find meaning: We'll be okay when we know everything: seekers(soul), when we live forever: leave a mark(body), when we cling to everyone(heart), when we structure everything(mind).
Jung talks about the surface archetypes and their shadows. The collective human struggle is to find meaning in the world. But the human embarks on this with an incomplete knowledge of their own self that is with a limited conscious. The first goal should be to find meaning from the shadows of their own psyche and to extract repressed experiences from the unconscious to the conscious. The last step is always to become more conscious and realise once humanness.

“Meaning and solace aren’t to be found in the heavens, but in the trenches of everyday living. We’ll know everything, and then we’ll be okay. We’ll kill everything, and then we’ll be okay. We’ll forget everything, and then we’ll be okay. We’ll live forever, and then we’ll be okay. We’ll cling to everyone, and then we’ll be okay. And even then, we weren’t okay. We shouldn't give up, but we shouldn't hurt ourselves thinking that we're lower than we are. When we measure ourselves by the future, we'll never be happy. We've got everything we could imagine. This will be the third comment I've left on this video in the last 6 months. I've rewatched this more times than I can count. Something about this video is able to comfort me in a way that nothing else can. I am not in a good mental state right now, and I genuinely feel like I don't want to live anymore. When my thoughts start spiraling and I can't think of anything but death and pain, I come back to this video. I basically know the story by heart at this point, but every time I watch it, it comforts me and makes me just a little hopeful that things will get better. If I feel better one day, it will be because of you, exurb1a. Words cannot describe how important this video (and "The Answer is Not a Hut in the Woods on your other channel) have been to me. Thank you.

During a period of life, I went on chased windmills. I wanted to always better, never content with effort. I always found something wrong, and I was feeling miserable, but I had one single thread holding me up "When I will have finish with school, everything will be okay" "When I will move out, everything will be okay", "When I will find someone, everything will be okay" but it never was okay.
One day, I looked back, and I had everything, Everything. Major of my school, a really good job, friends and loved ones, a good place to live in but it wasn't okay. Nothing was okay. I stumbled on this video at this moment.
One night, I nearly attempted to do what I today consider a mistake, but at the time, it felt like the only way. I did still push for one last time, last diagnosed with some really bad depressive state, and got help. Psy, meds, you know the drill.
One of the things that helped me push through the hardest day was the thought that "There is no snake". And today, still, this is a sentence I often say.
I will not say that this story saved my life, because it simply wouldn't be true, but it helped me to heal when days were bleak. Soon, I will get a tatoo, "There is no snake". I strongly believe Exurb1a will never see it, but in the event that you do, thank you good man. This video and your content (& books) helped me a lot to heal, and I am forever grateful.

I dont know how I found this channel, but I'm glad I did.
The video titles are so vague, I would never have suspected them to be such creatively written existential musings.
Definitely a great example of "dont judge a book by its cover" ... well, in this case it's the videos by their titles lol.

I absolutely adore your work exurb1a. This is absolutely pure genius and you deserve the world, each time i click on one of your videos its either peak entertainement or a beautiful life lesson like in this case. Uve said in one of your videos that you like when people present complex ideas with simple words and not the other way around and i think its something you excel at and yet still manage to keep the peotic/literate aspect pronounced. I know u probably wont ever read this comment but if u do, thank you so much for enlightening my mind, intellect, and psychic. Im watching this video at 4 a.m and i should be studying for my genetics exam, but this video made me understand that there are things much more important, and i think loving something as much as i loved this video falls in that category. Thanks again, ure brilliant and u deserve the world.
