to be fair he tried his best with the rules and it’s pretty hard to withstand your natural instinct to look at something that you can hear.

when are we gonna get a creepypasta where the dude doesn't break the rules and walks away perfectly fine, sorta like night at the museum?
Honestly I have the urge to write one after seeing all of the ones where they just continuously break the rules. I'm an obedient fellow, I feel like, especially if the rules being broken was a non-catastrophic-but-somewhat-annoying-dangerous-situation kinda jig, especially if it paid fuckin' 35 an hour, hell yeah I'd do it. Rules are easy, like, I get more stressed out when people don't give me exact instructions cause I'm freaked out about doing something wrong without knowing.
I mean, I get people do it so they can show off what happens when you do break the rules and pull monsters out their hats, but like, you can make a story fuckin' terrifying without even showing the monster, it makes it feel forced and kinda cringy, not scary, when the character just proceeds to bulldoze through the rules like a bull in a china shop, and gets fuckin' surprised each time it causes trouble.
I'm sorry but like, the rules concept is such a good thing to work off of, but like, so many people just half ass it when you could really get some like thrilling psychological fuckery going on pretty easy if you played your cards right.
I'm not trying to dig on fresh writers either, it's just that every rule story sounds, based on the words used and flow of the sentences, like they're almost written by the same person even though they aren't, partially cause the MC always acts exactly the same and just digs their heels in until their scared so shitless that, NOOO no I don't wanna follow the rules, let's just run in fear, and it's making the whole concept seem less and less interesting with each story ffs.
I see good ones here and there, but like, my dude, ffs, sometimes it like makes sense for them to break rules, you get a fleshed out character that tells their stories before it's time for them to be relevant, etc., but it, agh, the whole rules story thing at this point, like most of them sound like they were written by a high schooler, and I'm a high schooler tbf, but like, I have at least more usage of synonyms and fleshing out characters and world-building.
It feels like they're shitpost stories to pass the time more than actual horror, is what I'm getting at, and it's disappointing.
Sorry to ramble, I'm just so annoyed at how like so many rule stories bleed into each other from the monotony of the verbiage used and the MCs never feel relatable, they all feel very distant and cold and hard to connect with so the whole story suffers, and then the MCs often do the same things with no twists or turns or new fresh exciting thrills, concepts, or monsters. I mean, there's been a few good ones, like the ones with the Silver King are good, it's nice to have like world building and like differing characters who react differently and such, but like it's getting to the point I don't wanna listen to rule creepypastas anymore, and I feel like, reading through comments now and again, I'm hardly the only one.
I've heard one. Involves a security company, an elevator and 33 floors. Reddit Aliens has a video with it. I actually liked it, thought it was pretty good and the guy doesn't break the rules

Honestly if you cant see the perspective that you are always the victim of some kind of bullying or abuse that is unfightable in these stories then you mustve been in the other position always. Stories are meant to reenact the feeling you had as a kid when, for example relating to the rule of not looking up, you would look up after your abusive parent said dont and you would get beaten, or relating to the say thank you rule, you would not say thank you once and instead of a normal reaction again youd have to expect some extreme beating from your abusive parents. Its all about the helplessnes. And because that doesnt really exist in real life for adults The monsters or entities are always, each of them, absolutely invincible, unstoppable, unfightable and you have no means of defending yourself, of getting any kind of control over your life or your suffering or of finding any semblence of peace. Like yeah the dudes gonna slash your throat for not saying thank you? A very clear violation of what we as humans belive to be a right for everyone, the right to life, for nothing at all? Well if a person wanted to slash your throat you could for example dodge, or block with your arms at least save your neck if you cant your arms, or run away before they get close, or spend time and effort into getting some fighting skill that might help you survive. But no the slash your throat guy is just a god being whose throat slashing cannot be prevented and is 100% absolute. How else would you make stories to scare adults unless you put them against gods with no hope of survival whatsoever.

I've been listening to him for a few years now after corpse stopped posting stories. Listening to horror stories has been the bedtime ritual since i was 14-15 lol. Finally off shift and time to redeem the reward haha.

the only story were all of the rules were followed was my favorite.
A good writer can do that and the story will still be highly entertaining.
I read one where the guy follows all the rules. It had great tension and you felt like the rules were a thin barrier keeping him just barely safe.
This reads like it was written by an edgy 8th grader.

@@sakosa8784 seriously that's all you got that's not even close to being exoti let alone scary Cryptid stuff is truly what's frightening because those are the things that truly can kill somebody especially when the guy went into the alternate version of Earth Cryptid that must have caused Mass Mayhem on this alternate version of Earth the Cryptid resides in and that's my speculation of why there's no people there all those Cryptids have wiped out half of the human or a version of humanity population and probably half of them are hiding somewhere

I remember a story that the character survives. Something like a ship engine room nightshift or something. He explains his later shifts and says he likes it there near the end of it. He makes friends with the ghost dog and gets his life saved a few time by it. Let me know if you actually find it or if anyone else actually remembers that story.

I didn't finish it though cause it lacks direction after a certain point and falls apart, but yeah. to keep curious spelunkers from entering them and potentially getting hurt, i guess? a lot of abandoned buildings are really dangerous (asbestos, old, sharp objects everywhere you turn, walls and tiles hanging by a thread, etc) - especially the older they are, so there are security teams out there that actually _do_ patrol abandoned buildings. it's pretty common if it's become a building of interest for curious teens and urban spelunkers.

I find it kinda sad, now that we’re older we have new fears, and these kinds of stories, while they definitely would be horrifying if they actually happened to someone, don’t really scare us. We have fears like not paying or bills on time, and where are we going in life. The monsters under our beds have become nothing more than a basket of old memories. And the real monster, the real threat is the inability to thrive with the finite amount of time you have left on this planet. I thought of a perfect way to cheat this system also. Have someone you know hide in the bush next to the door, and when you knock on the glass door, your friend will rattle the bushes, you get paid, and you get to go home. Oh also if the ghosts had someone break in, that person would probably fucking die immediately, so basically being a security guard there is pointless. Also there was no rule about not showing up in the first place. It was literally his first day, if I got sent a set of rules like that I’d probably just be annoyed and not show up. Like what?
