Thank you, Debra. Altered books are my favourite thing to do. They are so labour intensive that I can't really pay the rent with them, but if I could, this is all I would make. Thanks again. It makes me and the pages very happy that you admired them. 🌼🌻🌷
Well, you've done it again, missy. Just a wonderful new, old book! I loved the little embroidered post card in the tuck spot! And thank you for a bit of history lesson. Also loved the last spread, the black birds and the woman in black! What a punch that page made! Last, but certainly not least...I loved the busy page that started out as a green stencil bk. ground and then morfed into an entire different look! Always a delight, when we get to see what Kelly has been up to!
Howdy Lynn, and thank you. Your enthusiasm is a tonic on a not-great day (but it is getting better 😉) and I really appreciate the feedback. It helps me see things more clearly. That busy page with the stenciling then transparent paper was daunting as I had already done several layouts and there I was, messing this one up and well, from there you HAVE to push on and find a way to make it come out right. It is a big motivator.😁
@@BookandPaperArts Kelly, as I read your answer, well, I hope your day is going better than the way it started. We all have those occasional "suckville" days, and thankfully we have our creations to work in, and to work it out! I DO hope your day gets better. And thanks for your openness
@@BookandPaperArts Silly me...you didn't sound so bad. But today, I'm the down one, it's all battles with a dear old friend about vaccines. That's all I will say for now. :(
Hello Kelly, a new subbie here from the Netherlands. I have just discovered your channel and I share your love for old paper and collaging. Your work is very inspiring. Tfs Maud
Hello and welcome, Maud. Thank you for your feedback - it makes me very happy. I would love to visit more of the Netherlands some day. I did go to some amazing flea markets there a few years ago. 😁😁
Beautiful altered book! I love all your pages! I will need to remember how you used those large roses! I really liked how they looked! Thanks for sharing!
Love the large/oversized motifs on pages. Lurking roses, woodpeckers, I am calling them Cravens. And yes that is a lot of hat!! Big hats and all showy looking are Kadoodles in our family. No idea why but there you go. Total agreement on keeping the front cover!
Thank you, Blanche. Wish I could find another. It is actually quite unusual but there must have been many of them of one time as it was meant for a church, after all. ⛪😉
Kelly! You are inspiring me so much! I am comfortable cutting and glueing, but never had much luck with adding my own text or sketches and heaven forbid should I ever touch a page with paint! Hahaha
Why thank you, Sondra. You have made my day. I know what you mean about adding your own paint and sketches to an altered book. I am easing into it with a "burner" book, a cheap book that I altered and gave myself permission to draw and paint in. If any experiments are successful then I will try them in a fancier altered book. I will keep you posted!
I thought I had a favourite page and then it was too difficult to choose. Happy mail is finally posted. It’s been a tough few weeks here! I definitely need to get the stabilo pencil 😀
Hello, Paulette. Thanks for this, you have made my day. This pencil is actually a charcoal pencil and it is French, Conté I think. Email coming soon. 🌼🌻🌷
I just ordered Mr. Marshal’s Flower Book on your recommendation. (Used, from ThriftBooks here in the states. GREAT used book online ordering resource.)
Great! I tend to keep a saved search on Ebay and when one comes up in my price range (cheapy cheapy cheap cheap) I order it. I've probably bought and cut up at least four of these. Keep me posted on how you use it! 🌼🌼🌷🌷🌻🌻
This is so beautiful Kelly. I wondered whether you use the originals from your coffee table books or whether you scan and use printed copies, I was thinking particularly of the Mr Marshal flower book you use.
Hi Yvie. With the one exception of the children in Pierrot costume, I always originals, including the 18th and 19th century pieces. I have this notion that if I use the best stuff, the paper gods will send me more and if I hoard it, they will hoard as well and believe me, this notion has never failed me. So I use originals. But I do put scans of them on my website because I know that not everyone has access to vintage original pieces. Mr Marshall's Flower Book is an exception as it is available on Ebay, which is where I get mine when I use up a copy. 🌷🌻🌼
@@BookandPaperArts thanks Kelly. I like the idea of the paper gods 😂 I’m new to this and a bit nervous of messing up but I think that maybe I have got to press on and to just do it!
@@ymrabc Yvie, I hear that A LOT, usually from the same people who are anxious about working in a new journal and "messing it up". Sigh. What am I going to do with you? 😉Now remember, it is only paper. Also, you may know this but I have plenty of free scans of vintage paper on my website, so you can always practice being bold! 🍁🌼🌻🌷
Kelly I watched this and then watched it again and each time thought every page layout is my favorite. Love your work! Thank you for sharing with us.

Just beautiful Kelly, all the pages are exquisite. Love how you tie both pages in with the use of colour.
Thank you so, Nicola. Just starting a new one today!
Brilliantly done. Beautiful altered book as always.
