    Love that you are keeping the Wutan lineage and styles alive. Keep it up. Love from the UK.
    I trained in Wutan under Master Wu Song Fa and another New Yorker, Mike Martello!

      Thank you! Doing my best! You’ve trained with two of the best martial artists and human beings. Look out for an announcement I’m about to make in about a week or two, and need support from the martial arts community.

    I was asking myself, what could happen if the attacker (at shoulder contact 2:54) grab your neck, push his left foot back, push up your right thigh with his buttlock and "screw his core" to throw your head toward his right foot (like in shou bo) ? A really tiny moment immediately followed by pi on really fragile structure, so... has to be done at this exact tiny moment.

      Oh yes totally. It’s all about timing. At the right timing, all is doable and effective, a slight delay for the opponent to recoup his structure, it may not be as effective. This applies to ALL moves and applications, there’s no perfect move.

      @@wutan_nj Thanks. "reverse yun shi" 1:57 seems to give you the leg leverage rather than being exposed to. Wouldn't you prefer this move instead if the combat context give you the choice ? Pigua Zhang is not perfect but is really clever.

      @@seripip7028 I agree, "YunSho" is much more dynamic. But I think these two applications although similar but have different distance and situation. Like in ZiPi, if going offensive with it, it can be a good option for people who are more center-line driven. for those who are more reactive, and evasive, YunSho is better.

      @@seripip7028 oh by the way, this is Pigua Zhang, not Baji.

    Doesn't look as though it would be effective against an average boxer

    • @wutan_nj
      @wutan_nj  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      1. That’s the misconception of a “conflict” or “fight”. There are TONS of situation where the opponent would deliver a committed attack: a choke, a grab, a push… boxers are trained to retreat their punches to score points, and recoup to defense.
      2. I train to make ALL contacts to be made before a punch reaches its 100 length, the contact should be made at 80% or less during the a punch’s delivery, so when this application is occurring, it happens when the opponent’s punch is on its way back.
      Same exact timing for a boxer trained to dodge or evade a punch.

      when is the last time you got into a street fight with a boxer?

      I'm not pretending to teach street self defense so that doesn't really matter but get to look anywhere on youtube and see Kung fu practitioners Looking bewildered and getting beaten up when facing even the most average boxer OK?@@DAF21films
