  • Learn how to Ladder Down and Up to repair an error in your Fisherman's Rib.
It's a good idea to practice this on your test swatch so you will know what to do if you find an error in one of your Knit 1 Below (K1B) stitch columns.
I suggest using a crochet hook and needle stoppers to help when picking up your stitches.
With the right side of your work facing you, identify the K1B stitch /column that needs repair. The first stitch in the column is a purl stitch, so let's just undo that one and place it to the back of your work. Look at the legs of the K1B stitch and note that the stitches are twisted, the first stitch you should undo is the back stitch, gently pull it out and place behind your work, notice the 2nd stitch in the K1B has already come loose. Undo as many stitches as needed to repair the error and continue as follows:
Take your hook and insert it in the loop of a completed K1B, go under the loop nearest to your hook and pick up the 2nd loop, pull through both stitches, reorient you hook after each stitch so that the stitches are not twisted.
Repeat as many times as needed until you reach the final stitch, which is a purl stitch.
Place the loop in front of your hook and pull through. All fixed.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so very much! Both for the purl stitch thing (revelation!) and the *extremely* clear visuals. So good!

I'm looking for help on correcting a mistake row (eg if I did row 2 twice in a row, or row 3) --- when I frog down and take out the mistake row, I can't figure out how to start knitting again in pattern. I get a weird gap no matter

First off are you working the half fishermans rib the same way I am. Right side (K1B, P1.) Wrong Side (K all sts). If you need to frog an entire row, or by the sound of it several rows.... I would suggest frogging back to a knit row. The way I do it is.. (I don't use life lines). with the wrong side facing you and starting at the left edge, gently insert the needle through all of your stitches one at a time, being careful more stitches don't unravel from the row below... however if one does unravel place both loops on your needle and you can fix that later by following the video.
As you can tell it is really hard explain to someone how to fix something without actually seeing the issue.
If you haven't knit to far into the project there is always the option of starting over or inserting a life line in a row below.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
