Jones has one of the biggest movie repertoires I’ve ever seen. He made his acting debut on stage at the iconic Ramsdelle Theater in Manistee, Michigan, playing the titular character Othello. His acting was so magical that it won him a spot on the ABC anthology series Theater Five. He then made his Broadway debut in 1957, playing Edward the Butler in Dore Schary’s Sunrise at Campobello.

Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Samuel L. Jackson weren't the only high-profile Black actors out there. There's Danny Glover, Forest Whitaker, Lawrence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, John Amos, and Louis Gossett Jr to name others.

James Earl Jones discussed his early views on Black women and how they evolved in a 1987 interview with Ebony magazine. In that interview, he admitted to having internalized negative feelings about Black women when he was younger but explained that his views changed as he matured. He reflected on how these feelings were linked to his own insecurities and struggles with identity but emphasized that he had grown past them through self-reflection and life experience.

Here in the States they knew Martin Luther King and his beautiful wife Coretta king and their Children. Sometime After Martin was Assassinated and my mother passed from stomach cancer we were invited to spend sometime with Corretta and the kids at a party in Uptown New York Manhattan... I was just a boy but i remember.. I remember that We were very poor.. I remember learning about The Lord from my mother and from the Kings.. i remember learning in school about What was done to Martin.💔 I remember crying feeling confused heartbroken and being sad as a little boy in a heartbreaking scary world at that time when i Lost my Mother and Martin and we all lost so many other heroes.. so many loved ones.. but i remember i used to hold onto Correttas leg.. I was very small.. and I would look up to her. And she would look down to me with a beautiful smile and such loving kindness in her eyes.. she was very sweet to me.. she knew I missed my momma and that's why I wrapped my little arms around her leg. She told my poppi it's ok.. and she kneeled down to my height to talk to me. She was all class. She was so smart and filled with such compassion and GRACE FILLED GODLY LOVE TOWARDS lil me.. i started to cry a little and she asked me whats wrong sweetheart.. I said my mommy's gone.. and your Martin is gone now too.. I was so vey sad for her and wanted to ask about martin..I was confused.. why? but she was so kind and so patient and told me to go ahead and ask.. I said with tears in my eyes.. why did a bad man hurt him? How can someone hurt someone like Martin my Hero who was like the Lord and foughtfor our freedoms? I was tormented as a boy by these things.. and She in her GODLY wisdom with teary eyes hugged me and kissed me and looked me in the eyes and she said.. Well David.. She explained it to me this way.. your precious mommy and Martin are with JESUS and one day we will all be together again.. you know your mommy got sick right?.. and see sometimes people get sick in their minds and hearts and hurt others... and that man that hurt my Martin was very sick in his heart and mind and soul and spirit.. and to this day I still remember what she said next . She said David...We must pray for him and others like him who are very sick.. pray for them and forgive them because they are hurting inside and need JESUS LOVE to help SAVE THEM SO WE must Forgive as he forgave Us.. Just like Martin forgave and my mom.. She planted seeds of Loving healing forgiveness in me a little boy even tho she had just lost Martin. Wow! Changed my Life. I must admit, having grown up in the 70's and 80's, I lost a lot of respect for James Earl Jones after seeing those interviews. Nevertheless there was no denying his talent so when he played the father in Coming to America I thought maybe his views he had then has changed. I must admit I didn't like the views he expressed earlier but was still supportive because he, as many other bm, were rarely seen in a positive light and luckily someone was willing to break the glass ceiling surrounding black actors and actresses in film. Both Jones and Quinn have had their shares of being marginalized and overlooked for many opportunities in their genres because of racial considerations. This has not allowed the industry to ignore the genius of their respective talents in the entertainment industry. As a woman of color and someone who truly appreciates the finery that has establshed both actors as Hollywood royalty, I am somewhat taken aback by Jones and Sidney Potier's negative comments about women of color. It is insulting, as all Black women are alike, any more than White women are all alike. It was their losses though, not ours.

How can you find fault with James Earl Jones? He's so chivalrous😅❤
Definitely one of my favorite Actors, Samuel, Denzel, Cosby, Sidney, Morgan, Robert Giul-.,....mostly everybody born in the thirties are excellent actors.

…also Jones’ understanding of History, Black History is imperfect and incomplete. He pays too little attention to how economics and culture❤ intersect oh well. Just sayn’…

Although James Earl Jones was indeed an very great Actor, he was still relegated to portraying not the best of movie roles he starred in which were very few despite the long period of time he has been in this Business, the average African American Man has always DESIRED Caucasian Women on some level or other 😒, Sidney Poitier stayed Married to the SAME CAUCASIAN WOMAN for over 50yrs. Black Athletes have chosen these Women OVER African American Women for many years, the recently Deceased Actor Richard Rountree married several Caucasian Women throughout his Life, Fred Williamson also, even at 80+yrs. Of age Morgan Freeman has these type of Women in his Life as well!!!

@user-qu4ey5yy3f That narrative is old and has long been debunked. Look at all the high profile black men that are getting dragged or have been dragged for filth by non black women... Johnathan Majors, Jeezy, Michael Strahan, Dr. Dre, Tiger Woods just to name a few. You guys are always quiet when your preferences are even worse than the women your disparaging

No he was pushing the Hollywood agenda of white supremacy they always have the same bullshit talking points “all black men are violent and all black women are angry” which is there no proof to say we are more violent than any other race in fact there’s more proof to say it’s the other way around if you look at Ancient history till now European have always been the most savage and brutal ❤️🖤💚
