Now this is personal so here goes! Mr. Jones visited my acting class at Henry St. Settlement, NYC back in the day. This exquisite exceptional gentleman of a talent just sat in the back and acted like he wasn't noticed. At the end of the class and our respective scenes, he turned to me and said 'you have a great voice, please use it'. Imagine what I felt hearing that from James Earl Jones. Unbelievably, I remembered that just yesterday after I heard the news of his passing. Thank you Mr. Jones! Take your bow! Rest in Peace! Thank you for this vid Graeme, well done!
Jones had the best voice in the industry. His voice could go from menacing to kind and enduring to menacing and terrifying. He truly brought every character to life and I’m so thankful for him.
I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Mr. Jones play Othello on Broadway in 1982, with Christopher Plummer as Iago. Two great actors bringing Shakespeare to new heights. His performance was so compelling, that when Othello begins strangling his wife, I actually had to restrain myself from yelling, "NO!!" He had a presence on film and stage that was as large as his majestic voice. We have lost a giant that deigned to walk among us.
He was truly, undoubtedly, and absolutely, one of the best. Mr. James Earl Jones. Rest in sweet heavenly peace. Thank you Graeme ONeil. This was beautiful ❤️😇🌹
As a 80’s/90’s kid, this man was the voice and face of my generation from Star Wars Episode VI to Coming to America to Lion King to Sandlot to Field of Dreams and so many other amazing films, and above all else exemplified what it meant to be an actor!!! 💔
Because this man is a legend, i felt it when the news came unless your not born here you wouldn't understand James Earl Jones was a National Treasure and will be greatly miss RIP 🌠🕊️
Iconic James Earl Jones ,man, that epic voice ,when I would read to my kids .i would love have sounded like you man. God blessed you. He will bless you again. MAN!
He was a wonderful actor,. I loved hearing his voice, and enjoyed the movies he did where he was there in person. I was a fan of his character in the Jack Ryan movies, as well as Field of Dreams,
Wow!! What a tribute Graeme. I'm a 60's hardscrabble guy, but you put a trickle of tears in my eyes. He was indeed the Lion King. Larger in life, and now even larger in spirit. It pains me that someday i'll have to sit with my sweetheart daughter and have the same story Mufasa gave his son.
Yep.. one of my first as well. I think we can say with 100% certainty, just about ANY film James Earl Jones was in will be forever memorialized as a classic.
An avid Fan, he brought a new level of meaning to all his characters, and his voice gave you a level of wonder as you listened to each story he told RIP Mr James Earl Jones...Respect...😪😪😪
The Lion King (both movies) will always go down as my favorite roll of his! That voice gave such weight to that character and to the movie as a whole! You will be missed!!
Mr Jones was a regular customer at our family store. He was every bit as sweet, sincere and humble as you could have imagined. He will be so greatly missed by those who knew him.
I’ve only seen two movies with his voice (weirdly not him actually) The Lion King and Star Wars. Two completely different father characters and he perfected them both. He had the definition of a powerful, booming voice. He commanded so much power when he spoke you just HAD to listen to whatever he said. He truly was so good at what he did. R. I. P. To an amazing legend ❤️
1:08 His tremendous voice will go on in Star Wars and perhaps other Lion King projects. As his last performance as Darth Vader was in 2017's Rogue One as the voice used in Obi-Wan is a digital AI performance after selling Disney the rights to use his voice likeness
Descanse En Paz Gran Actor James Earl Jones. Vivirá Inmortal en sus Películas. Entrevistas. Doblaje. Extraordinario Actor. Pensé hace meses que fallecería.
For sure if I was on stuff like instagram, twitter or facebook which I am not I would post a thing that says” Thanks for being part of my childhood and I will always remember you as the voice of one of my favorite villains growing up Darth Vader and I will also remember you as the second best father in the world and that father was Mufasa and when and if I have a family of my own I will share with them the memories that I had of listening to your amazing voice in great, Legendary and wonderful roles like the one and only evil Darth Vader and the magnificent, gentle and brave Mufasa and I will always remember you until i have myself completed the circle of life”.
if there was any movie with James Earl Jones in it it has got to be Field of Dreams as it was and still is very great and inspiring movie and James Earl Jones was and still is great in that movie. Rest In Peace James, i and others will miss you.
James Earl Jones is one of favorite voice actors he will be missed not only by his fans and family he will be remembered by his wonderful Darth Vader and Muffasa May he rest in peace with the Lord and remember that when we look at the stars we see him there to guide us God Bless and Rest in Peace James Earl Jones
Of course I'm most familiar with Mr. Jones because of Darth Vader, but he has given life to so many other characters. He was even willing to have fun by letting himself be 'directed' by Sean Hayes's character on Will and Grace. Love Mark Hamill's tweet; R.I.P. 'DAD'. 🥰
Rumor has it that George Lucas considered Orson Wells, but he decided against it because his voice was way too recognizable. Jones was lesser known to as wide of an audience. There's also a rumor that Orson Wells was considered for the Twilight Zone narrating, but negotiations fell apart as Rod Serling was far less expensive. Iconic replacements for Wells!
Yes, I just learned that from a comment above. On James' IMDB filmography, the Obi-Wan Kenobi credit is listed as any other voice acting credit, so I had no reason to think it was anything out of the ordinary. I'm actually surprised that he didn't record that, since it was like at least 2 years before his passing.
Asexual reproduction 😂 his character in a garden of stone, is still my favourite master sergeant in the history of movies. What a loss, but what a joy seeing him perform.
Only voice I know that's just or almost as iconic as James voice is Kevin Conroy Batman... Another that commands respect. It's not as deep, but it is dark lol

WOW! Now that! Is a compliment of the Most Highest Honor! BRAVO TO YOU! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@TheReddg71 Thank you for your words! He was so kind and humble! Haven't stopped thinking of that quiet solid genius since his passing.
@@reigna963 you're absolutely welcome! 🫡🫡🫡
That gave me chills. WHAT AN HONOR AND A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY ❤❤

Is there anybody else here that when they heard the news "No... That's not true... That's impossible!" when they first heard the news?
That was absolutely beautiful.😢
Claudine is the first movie I've ever seen with James Earl Jones ❤️🙏🏽
Yep.. one of my first as well.
I think we can say with 100% certainty, just about ANY film James Earl Jones was in will be forever memorialized as a classic.
What an incredible talent! Only clip missing for me was from "Coming To America". JEJ 👑 as the king was iconic in that.

What made him even MORE Special, he was perfect for spreading the Lord’s word.🙏🏻🕊️
I think it’s weirdly beautiful that the last character he voiced before he died was Darth Vader
Mr Jones was a regular customer at our family store. He was every bit as sweet, sincere and humble as you could have imagined. He will be so greatly missed by those who knew him.
Him and Robert Duvall in “Family” was awesome! Great movie!
