I feel like we were the last generation to trully experience what a true childhood is, where we only had few TV channels and we spend more time playing outside, no tablets, no smart phones, no social media, etc. And the movies that came out were special unlike a lot of stuff that comes out today that is recycled and injected with some kind of an agenda.

James threw a pitch straight down the pipe for those kids to hit it out of the park with the way he spoke to them. That was their grand slam moment and he lobbed it over the plate for them because he knew that's what they were looking for. Heart of gold.

I actually went to the elementary school where the kids are playing ball in the opening scene. I remember that exact location at Nibley Park Elementary. I was 7 years old when The Sandlot released in 93. Wish I could had been an extra. A lot of fond memories of that school.
I was a grown man when The Sandlot came out. It spoke to me. I was born in 1963. The adventures of growing up. Baseball. Football. Basketball. Swimming pools. LIFEGUARDS. 😂. Big neighborhood dogs. Treehouses. Chewing tobacco...all of it. A true classic.
I’m 53 years old. I remember playing home run derby with my buddies at the little league field in New Lexington Ohio in the early 80’s. The field backed up to the town pool and once in a while we’d homer one into the pool. The lifeguard would give us a hard time about the dangers of the ball flying in there. I still remember her name and the tan she would get each summer. I lived my version of the Sandlot and a lot of others did also. What a great time to be a kid.

I used to think the sandlot was like a biopic for Alex Rodriguez until somebody pointed out Sandlot is based in the 60's. And it was fiction.
