Is this still an issue with the 2024 model? I was in the dealership a few days ago and just happened to open this door and popped the fuel door and the bike hasn't been prepped yet and doesn't have the battery even hooked up yet. Just curious if Honda has changed anything on the new model.

Nothing ever changes once they release a model. It must have been hooked up.

I can’t believe how many thing need attention on these over priced motorcycles. The more research I do the more it pushes me away, not to mention the fit and finish is poorly executed, The gaps between panels and the way none of the trunk lids close properly.. I’ll buy one when they fix all the problems with the current one. Including the suspension..

Just had that happen two weeks ago and I was ready to bust the door off. I had enough gas to get home. Let the bike sit and my temper settle down and when I went back out it opened just fine, no explanation. The key fob was in the front compartment the whole time. Another great tip shared. Wondering if with this much stuff removed you would be able to attach a cable/paracord to fuel door release, like parallel, and jus have it sleep in the crease of seat-tank so as to put a finger in the hidden loop and pull the latch? Maybe if I get mine tore apart for any reason I would look to do that. I know your idea is good if one wants a grommet that hides the hole and protects the compartment from water. JT

If it was firmly connected, I would then CLOSELY inspect each wire on each side of the connector, as sometimes they don't get fully clicked into the blocks at the factory and one half of a wire can wiggle loose.
After that, the Honda Dealer will likely have to replace the sensor.

@@EODHammer So you do have to be willing to be without your bike for a while, as we have no control over painters. Apparenlty, none are capable of doing what they say they will do when the say they will do it. You would want to imagine any accessory you would ever want and we'll do it all at once so that there is minimum overlap in labor and least chance of damage to custom paint.

You can make your own if you drill only a 1/16" hole by using black RTV tube. Pc of tape from outside of the panel. Open panel, put a dab of RTV from inside and spread it few millimeters round like you are forming a washer. Let dry, remove tape from outside. It will stay till you push it via a pin or used drill bit.
