I have a roof of 1250 square feet in the last 3 years. I rarely purchased vegetables from the market. I just used time after office hrs or Sundays.
I have also grown a few fruits.

These are the Entreprenuers. They have excellent products.
What they lack is a Mass Market, and Large Demographic that will willingly pay the premium for such vegetables.
Groceries, including Vegetables, have a deeply entrenched marketplace and market practices. Farmers, Transporters, Distributors and Resellers form a well-oiled ecosystem that delivers farm-fresh items at competetive and many-a-times, affordable prices.
Hydroponics and other techniques need to effectively compete in this highly competitive market. Such Startups will have to expertly, logically, and emotionally convince new customers about the benefits and advantages, WHILE remaining price sensitive.
There is a customer base, but it is very small, and growing slowly because there's ample and reliable availability.

    Great segment.
Only thing I’d say is that I’d suggest leading with “hydroponics uses 80% less water etc” and not ending with it… make your biggest bestest point upfront. Don’t keep me guessing! Just my 2paisa 🎶

Hydroponics is less compared to organic farming
But most of the things which we consume in organic farming is not completely organic

    • @stressedbiryani5675
      @stressedbiryani5675 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@yatishd8267 you know the whole organic thing that people obsess over is misguided in the first place. It's the word contaminated that you are looking for. Agricultural crops are often treated with too much pesticides and herbicides. Hybrid plants are just cross pollinated seeds that actually require less pesticides because they are more resistant to diseases.

Soil: our very body. It is the mother from which we are all born. One of the five elements from which the entire universe(macrocosm+microcosm) is made up of. Artificial age is eliminating that element to produce something that humans consume. Looking forward to hearing from Google scholars and pundits... the hydroponics code of conduct is relevant to some high altitudes and underwater ecosystems and for different planetary systems where intelligent organisms survive without soil. Humans are natural. But the business processes are not so synchronised since the first industrial civilization. Waiting for their(optimists) explanation on this...

Health would be a better promotor of hyroponics when compared to eco friendliness especially when you talk about a country like India. I don’t think I would live a day where hydropohics have taken over the share of traditional farming. Someone should come up with a method to combine both forms of farming.

It depends on what you fertilize them with. You can fix your own fertilizer using med grade ingredients if you don't trust the companies. You can also add additional substrate bed to grow bacteria colonies and then fertilize the system with organic stuff like vermicompost (without bacterias breaking down the natural fertilizer, plants can't really use much of it). I guess the most natural and organic way would be changing the system to aquaponic one, adding fish tank into the mix.

11:19 bro the fans pumps and AC are running on fossil burnt transformed energy, your carbon footprint is not 10 not 100 i believe 1000 time more than a farm produce, also as water is renewable resource, just put your effort in conserving it for everything else there's a cheaper sustainable alternative. For people growing on roof it make them happy so fine.

My biggest question is, the actual solution that is being used to fertilize the plants. There has been recent breakthroughs in successfully administering pharmaceuticals via food crops. We all know that some nefarious billionaires using their foundations and "philanthropy", have been using the good people of India as Guinea pigs. Lets hope and pray and hope, these hydrophonic factories are not being used to administer and advance this mad deranged idea. Freedom of choice with full disclosure should be what rules the day.

unless the nutrients are coming from fish in a cycle i wouldn't call hydroponics "organic". The whole premise of the word is saying you don't use chemicals, how is he getting the nutrients into the water if not with fertilizer? Normal NPK is not allowed in organic agriculture. You have to get manure or organic matter, decompose it and feed it to your plants like that
I would call not using NPK ever extreme but in a farm like this it's absolutely impossible to grow anything without heavy use of fertilizer in the water. Not using pesticides is a great step, but you can't just call it organic when you are heavily using inorganic fertilizers, it's deceptive

Lol. This ain't futuristic. The future is vertical farming utilizing purple lights and using solar to generate those lights and maintaining the temperature, PH, brightness, toxicity etc., using IOT sensors. Robotics would be highly used. I live in America and have a small vertical plant in my home as a hobby with sensors around it. But I am glad people in India are looking into alternate ways of farming.
