This is my second video I've watched from you guys and I think it's really great your listening to this stuff. This was my era when I was growing up listening to all sorts of metal and I had a really fantastic time seeing bands like Slayer live. I was fortunate enough to see them again on their farewell tour in Dublin, Ireland in 2018 and they are a band that will be sorely missed by not only people of my age but also the younger generation of metal fans growing up now. I've got a whole load of suggestions for songs and bands for you to listen to but I'll wait a while before I start leaving them in them comments section. Keep Rockin' Two Grannies!
I'm 48, and I've been listening to Slayer since they released and toured Bogart's in Cincinnati. This was to be the beginning of what I consider the best Slayer album. Although it started of very aggressive and what many consider a non deviation from the last album, it goes right into Blood red, and takes a somber yet Thrash metal sound, of what I would consider the birth of Thrash. Each song more progressive than the next and unlike anything they had done before. Seasons is a Masterpiece.

I remember at 16 years old.. prior to getting into bands like Slayer (this woulda been back in 1986) I was listening to bands like Dio, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Ozzy Osbourne. My mother actually sent me after school with my cassette tapes to talk to the local Catholic priest. She was thinking the music was evil/devil music or whatever. It was funny, as the priest read the lyrics to some of the Iron Maiden songs from the cassette liner and was like : This is not evil music. My mother was flabbergasted that the priest actually dismissed her concerns. I just found it funny.

I was lucky enough to be able to se Slayer live when Hanneman was still alive... It was back in 2000 i saw Maiden with Slayer and Entombed as supporting acts... The best concert i ever been to...
I work at a truck stop next to I-70 and we have tour buses come through all the time and one day I was outside getting trash when I noticed a a guy standing next to a blacked out bus surrounded by several people wearing STAFF shirts. It caught my eye and then I realized that the guy was Tom Araya, the lead singer of Slayer. I was going to ask for an autograph but as I was taking off my gloves he reboarded the bus and they drove off. I wish I had seen him 1 minute sooner.
Slayer has always been one of my favorites. Back in college, it was great whiskey drinking music. It would get me so amped up, I just wanted to put on my spiked golf shoes and rake granny’s back. Lol Please do Pantera’s “Walk!”🤘
My nana couldn't get into slayer. But when she heard acdc and kiss she loved them. Me and my cousin's would play them all the time and she would rock out with us. Miss her so much. And her pancakes she would make for us. You 2 are awesome. Much respect.
Slayer's original drummer left and has a band called G.R.I.P. Inc.. their best song is Hostage to Heaven. Their 1st album is full of great songs. You'd like it a lot ;)
You two are wonderful. First reaction I have seen you do. I really expected the reaction to go in the opposite direction. You got yourselves a subscriber
I have a similar story to the story you told in the beginning of the video. As I wore band shirts my whole life since my early teens (I'm 42 now). I am the "black sheep" of the family and always have been. Most of my life I have been judged for every thing I do and like. I haven't change anything about me as a result. I am me and that's the way it is. I was never close to my family or my grandparents but I loved them anyway and probably so them loving me the same. Well, my two grandmothers were pretty much polar opposites of each other. One was artistic, talkative and funny and the other one was quiet, reserved and soft spoken. I loved them both for who they were but I was never really close to them. I lived in my own world basically. One day I happened to be in the same room as the more quiet, reserved grandma was in and I had on a Pantera shirt with a scull and crossbones with fire an random symbols throughout the design. Pantera was and still is one of my favorite bands. She seen the shirt I was wearing and said. "That shirt is so pretty". Lol. I almost didn't know what to say but it meant a lot to me so I said thank you and kinda laughed as I looked down to see if I in fact still had my Pantera shirt still on. Fast forward to her passing (8 years later) I wore a Pantera shirt under my black button up shirt to her funeral and as I was putting on the shirt I said "love you grandma and thank you for liking my shirt". Right when you started the beginning story of this video I had a tear come out almost immediately which I noticed "Granny Haze" was a little choked up too and couldn't even get out the "subscribe and like the video" line as you both do together in every video. You guys remind me of my parents and my grandparents in a lot of ways and it's just nice to see you two like some of the music that I grew up with. I also blessed my parents with mediocre guitar playing as loud as it would go by the way. So I'm sure I was a joy to be around. Lol. -Daniel /Wichita, Ks. ✌😎🤘
Jeff Hanneman is the guitarist whose guitar has all of the stickers on it. He passed away in 2013 and his dad was/is a D-Day veteran. And if you are interested check out "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson live at Austin City Limits.
That tribute was beautiful. Now the trend has been set, I also think you two sweethearts are great. Back to the video. That was 1st for me. And as usual, I liked it. It put me in mind of a band called Creed from their album "Weathered", a song called "Bullets". On the subject of that album, there's a song that's haunted me for years, it's "Who's got my back". Very thought provoking and eye opening too. But I'm still gonna keep on about Ramstien until you analyse them and their music. I just know you'll love it.
Slayers best song. No competition. The lyrics are one of their best too. The album Seasons in the Abyss is their best too. So many great songs. The diversity makes it number one.
Hahaha! Y'all noticed the skull on Jeff's (blonde hair) guitar, but did you notice the Dead Kennnedy's emblem on it as well? Well, Tom (the singer) is married and has children (grand children too if I remember correctly). And that's why they are "retiring". From what I've heard, he is ready to hang it up and spend time with his family.
Fun fact, while that video is heavily edited for MTV. When they told the crowd they were going to lipsink. The crowd booed so lould they did it live. So what you saw was Slayer live. Kind of.
Asked a couple weeks ago but consider Hatebreed's cover of Slayers Ghosts of War. Another Hatebreed is To The Threshold. Give em a try! You'll dig it!!
Well I finally clicked it....how could I not? You kept popping up in my recommended and as much as I tried to resist ...well here I am. I don't know wth is happening anymore with anything. I remember when I only knew like 3 people other than myself who even knew how to access the internet and here we are today.
SO cool!!! You two remind me so much of my G'ma that I lost twenty five years ago, she was so amazing...but she's still with me every day in everything that I do. She mostly listened to country music (and I came to appreciate that too), but she also listened to Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer with me. The only adult in my life that did...Role models like my own Grandma was and like you are is exactly what we need and will always need. Keep up the great work, it's so fun! You should probably check out Megadeth's 'Holy Wars' and Slayer's 'Live Undead'. :) Thank you so much!
I've seen Slayer many times, That's 1 of their classics along with the thrash bible called REIGN IN BLOOD from 1986... Angel Of Death, Raining Blood, The entire record is a gem, That's why it's considered by most to the thrash metal bible... Cover a classic Metallica tune, Creeping Death, Battery, Disposable Hero's, Those are great tunes from their early years!
so lucky Tom Araya Singer still has his hair i´m long haired starting loosing my hair :( as a teen i woke up to Slayer in the morning my Stereo had alarm clock
granny haze, we all loved (their) hair too! ;) check out gary holt's band exodus. exodus was formed by kirt hammett, yep, guitarist of metallica. holt replaced henneman in slayer when he passed, rip henneman. holt has been playing in two bands (exodus & slayer) simultaneously ever since. try exodus "and then there were none" or "bonded by blood" off their 1st album, its classic. or other classic "no love". the documentary "murder in the front row" gets its name from "bonded by blood", its in the lyrics. keep spreading the love 2RG! \m/

I was lucky enough to be able to se Slayer live when Hanneman was still alive... It was back in 2000 i saw Maiden with Slayer and Entombed as supporting acts... The best concert i ever been to...
Hell yes! We need more grandparents to listen to metal. You girls rock, i love it!
Lol
Please do Pantera’s “Walk!”🤘
I’d love if y’all would do anything by primus. Like John the fisherman or jerry was a race car driver.
My Name is Mud 😎🤘🇮🇪
i like woodstocks damn blue collard tweakers
Tommy the cat
Tom Araya is a maniac!
He plays the Bass guitar and sings this at insane speed
My nana couldn't get into slayer. But when she heard acdc and kiss she loved them. Me and my cousin's would play them all the time and she would rock out with us. Miss her so much. And her pancakes she would make for us. You 2 are awesome. Much respect.
Slayer's original drummer left and has a band called G.R.I.P. Inc.. their best song is Hostage to Heaven. Their 1st album is full of great songs. You'd like it a lot ;)
I saw Slayer for the first time live last year in Belgium, on their farewell tour, luckily i got a glimpse of them live before they retired!
I'm sooooooo sharing you two on my Facebook page! You Rock!!!
I love you guys..thank you for opening to Slayer..I'm going to subscribe.
Jeff Hanneman is the guitarist whose guitar has all of the stickers on it. He passed away in 2013 and his dad was/is a D-Day veteran. And if you are interested check out "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson live at Austin City Limits.
If you want a song that speaks of war, how about Black Sabbath - “War Pigs”
Great choice. The Faith No More version is good too, if a bit too close to the original.
You 2 are THE BEST I wish I could hug you both!!!!
As soon as i seen this, I subscribed, This is great! Thank YOU!
Slayers best song. No competition. The lyrics are one of their best too. The album Seasons in the Abyss is their best too. So many great songs. The diversity makes it number one.
I love how your watching Slayer! Lol
🤘😎🤘 You make me belly laugh when you said you love their hair 😂😂
I was lucky enough to get invited on slayers bus with two of my kids, and they signed my slayer snowboard. Epic, those guys rule.
You guys are great, and you must be the coolest grannies ever!!!
"Like it if you want to, and if you don't, f' it" may be the best description of Slayer's attitude that I've ever heard
Glad to know these grannies now know what actual METAL is!! Especially listening to one of the BIG4 the Lords of THRASH METAL!!!!
Slayer rules but you are amazing also! And that comment abt Tom's hair, you've just made my day! 😂🤘
This was awesome, thank you!
Awesome 👌, I grew up with this and I still love it. And I'm 43 I still love it.
Very nice! Hi, from Rio! Don't forget Sepultura, please. Keep rockin'!
You guys are just awesome!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻 May The Force Be With You!!!
Fun fact, while that video is heavily edited for MTV. When they told the crowd they were going to lipsink. The crowd booed so lould they did it live. So what you saw was Slayer live. Kind of.
Cradle of Filth - Her Ghost in the Fog
Grandmas and black metal sound interesting😂
@@dendedave859 very
They should react to a lyroc video. Filth's lyrics are too good to overlook.
Asked a couple weeks ago but consider Hatebreed's cover of Slayers Ghosts of War. Another Hatebreed is To The Threshold. Give em a try! You'll dig it!!
Yes but for black I'd suggest either BEHEMOTH - Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel or DIMMU BORGIR - Council Of Wolves And Snakes.
Thank grannies I always look for your reaction videos... thank you and keep then coming
You two are just the best. I never miss an upload!
Well I finally clicked it....how could I not? You kept popping up in my recommended and as much as I tried to resist ...well here I am. I don't know wth is happening anymore with anything. I remember when I only knew like 3 people other than myself who even knew how to access the internet and here we are today.
But this was pretty f*@king cool!
awwww you made grannie Haze tear up! Always love your Grandmas!
Mine raised me.( and my Grandpa).
\m/
3:57 I can hear Toms distinct laugh at that part. He would be flattered at the same time..
Hanneman, a shred machine turned up to 11.
Always amusing to see Kerry King with hair.... Great choice 2RG, you just can't beat Slayer for a wake up!
I used to rock this song in my car on the way in to high school... windows down and makin heads turn...
L.A. 85' ultimate revenge ,venom, exodus, slayer, got home two days later, still dont know how, i was 15 yrs old
so lucky Tom Araya Singer still has his hair i´m long haired starting loosing my hair :( as a teen i woke up to Slayer in the morning my Stereo had alarm clock
Mine was Metallica ,And Justice For All , blackened
granny haze, we all loved (their) hair too! ;) check out gary holt's band exodus. exodus was formed by kirt hammett, yep, guitarist of metallica. holt replaced henneman in slayer when he passed, rip henneman. holt has been playing in two bands (exodus & slayer) simultaneously ever since. try exodus "and then there were none" or "bonded by blood" off their 1st album, its classic. or other classic "no love". the documentary "murder in the front row" gets its name from "bonded by blood", its in the lyrics. keep spreading the love 2RG! \m/
Just so you ladies know you have been noticed! The lead singers wife Sandra Araya has shared this video on Facebook and I am sure other platforms! She loved it from what I seen! For a deeper cut from this same album check out Skeletons of Society!
