I had a great time in Colchester, UK (near London, England) metal detecting some old far fields and roman sites. It's been a bit since my last metal detecting videos and I was lucky enough to not only find some cool relics from the past, but also to hang out with some really cool people from around the Metal Detecting TH-cam community! In today's video, I not only score some cool relics,, but I was able to land my first silver coin AND a 2000 year old gold coin! This is part 2 of a 3 part video series and I hope you all enjoy them! 2023 Metal Detecting Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLknd43YfQfvbhcU-oJHYxhS-M1iW_gRrY.html Here's the links to some of the others that you will see in the video. Dude! What a stellar, once in a lifetime find in that hammered gold coin! You'll remember that for the rest of your lifetime. Plus, all the other coinage and buttons you're finding! What an experience and adventure this truly was!
Windy...lol welcome to England. Wind, rain and snow. Surrounded by water, the UK looks large on the map. Congratulations on the gold coin. Get it graded. I have seen them sell for over $3000 🇺🇸
I swear I thought you found a Lydian Lion gold coin. That's my number 1 dream coin. That coin paved the way to what we have now. Your Stater was absolutely amazing! Jealous guy over here. Lol
People worked hard and wore their clothes out since they didn’t have a lot of money or options to buy/replace them. Buttons fell of over the hundreds of years people worked/lived out there.
Congrats on finding the Gold. I have always wanted to try searching our fields but I am now physically unable, so I took up coin collecting a few years ago instead, mainly inspired by your coin roll hunting videos.
The thick coin is a bi-metallic two pound coin that was was the standard issue between 1997-2014. The coin design celebrates technological achievements and has the edge inscription “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.” (I could see “Stand…” in the video.) A number of commemorative two pound coins have also been issued over the past 20+ years… some quite collectible… but this is a regular (aka definitive) issue. You could have cleaned it off and spent it at the airport on some delicious Cadbury chocolate. Last visit I made to the UK I spent all of my remaining British pounds loading up my suitcase with chocolate. 😋
Congrats on the gold stater! Note that the earlier comment is correct; the large final coin is a two-pound definitive coin of Eliz II (not a token, not a commemorative); it says on the edge, "standing on the shoulders of giants," as do they all.
Glad to see your still goin hard rob I’ve been watching you for hella long time it feels like since I was 12 I’m 16 2 months from 17 now. Havnt watched a video in a while tho so I got some catching up to do love ya g
Awesome find Rob with your proximity to colchester the Celtic gold coin most likely came from the Iron Age tribe of the Trinovantes their capital was modern day colchester which was also the Roman capital of Britain when they got a strong foothold on the country two other tribes of note in that area would be the Catuvellauni and the Iceni which could be other possible sources of this gold coin.

What happened in those fields that made so many buttons fall off?
That gold coin is in SWEET condition for its age! SO jealous!
People worked hard and wore their clothes out since they didn’t have a lot of money or options to buy/replace them. Buttons fell of over the hundreds of years people worked/lived out there.
@@RobFindsTreasure I wondered if possibly some battles had been fought there, maybe during the English Civil War.
