Metal detecting gold and relics in the mine helps us to date the past workings. The gold ore samples collected show good free milling gold values which are encouraging enough for us to start small scale production! This is no longer a lost or abandoned mine!

though I had some problem with sea water It also th-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
Can you imagine the days and weeks it took for that miner to tunnel that far into the Earth. I hope he was rewarded for all his efforts.

Just because those old mines shuttered over 100 years ago, you can still find gold, silver or any other precious metals still down there over 100 years later.
In my humble opinion you should frame up the entrance with an open steel grate door that can be locked up to avoid the use of the mine by cougars or bears.
That would definitely help!

About 18:14 in, a person is taking some material out and checking if what's still in the shovel is ringing in the detector, then tossing out the material in hand. If looking for a single target, no problem. But if you have several small bits of gold, seems like he might throw some away with that method. I'm no expert, but first time I went detecting, I was told to not assume only 1 target was in a given spot. I'd think the same would apply here.

Nice work guys, of all the videos I have seen on old mine exploring this is the first one I have seen that has taken a detector along, which would have been my first choice next to the digging tools. Great video but would like to see what you found in the samples that you have taken.

That is a very cool horseshoe! You can tell it was used hard because the front edge is virtually flat. My buddy shoes horses so I I know how they wear out. That shoe has seen many a mile on hard terrain. Cool video guys! It's the first one of yours that I watched I liked it. I'm a jeweler and a lapidary and a rockhound among other things! You need to be using a 4ft by 8ft tarp doubled over on floor to catch all that fine gold!!!
Wood rats can build a pretty good sized nest, and you'll find nests like that all over the place in mines like that.
I want to ask , when you are cupelling and the lead is not fully dicioated yet..is that lead harder than usual.

I`d like to see a Minelab Vanquish 340 with the small coil ran over those same targets. Those detectors are an insane bargain and can hit extremely small targets.

The screamer rock is pretty amazing! I have pinpointed the location of the metal and will do my best to remove it as a specimen piece. We are in fact going mine portions of this vein that are free milling.

Be sure to cover your portal with a tarp to keep the air slack out of the tunnel.

For this kind of lode prospecting, I am using a Fisher Gold Bug 2. I also use a Minelab GPX 6000
I'm about to go crazy to go gold mining but I live in east Tennessee does anyone know where to look around East Tennessee for gold or any precious metals
Hey Paul. Coker Creek and the Tellico River are the best known areas for gold prospecting. I would start research that area. The placer gold had to come from the surrounding hills and upstream.

The ore is running about 1 ounce per ton with some richer and poorer pockets.

It is the 6.5" small coil for the GB2. It is more sensitive to tiny gold.
