      @@LoyaltygamingprThey definitely stem from the same root, but they are different branches; not only in aesthetics or style of expression, but in a lot of cosmology, philosophy and ceremonial practice. Santería (Lukumi) is an adaptation to the conditions we encounter and live in in the African Diaspora. The elements of syncretism with Catholicism go beyond iconography, and even the paradise are not all the same. I honor both traditions, but recognize the difference between the Mother and the child. Hope that helps anyone who reads this.

    Good video, it is so rare to see anyone take time to explore and present information about the origins of African spiritual beliefs BEFORE Christian indoctrination. I don’t meant this as criticism, and while hope it doesn’t come off that way, please do with it what you will. I think it’s important to honor your awareness that Olorun or Oludumare doesn’t have a gender…and I believe using a completely non-gendered image would help drive home the point that Olorun is ALL and can’t be defined. Using the image of the black version of bearded old man in the sky 6:11 , emphasizes the strong influence of Western spiritual concepts already prevalent in modern Yoruba spirituality (which is often inescapable). But if that is part of the point of the video, then please ignore me and carry on with your good work sir. 😅
    Also I’d love to connect to find out ways to support or help create.

    • @joshuacooperseo
      @joshuacooperseo ปีที่แล้ว

      This witchcraft is still practiced and never ceased. It potentially led to black Americans being captured so it must be weak 😂. And I’m not criticizing it.
      Christ was here in the beginning and believing in him transcends Yoruba religion of MYTHological deities. You can’t use a non-gendered image unless it’s blank 🤦🏿‍♂️😂.
      Serve the creator and not the creation.

    • @obatalaosun2222
      @obatalaosun2222 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The pictures during the Olodumare segment are actually depictions of Orişa Obatala (and even "he" is sometimes refer to as "Mother" in Odu Ifa).

    Well this video is really good but let me clear up some errors. First off Olodumare is genderless so really can’t calm Olodumare a he/her. Second the Orisha aren’t Gods they are just aspects of the supreme being in yoruba spirituality/cosmology.

    This is quite good . Though for the concept of evil the Yoruba people believe in terrestrial forces which are basically Esu and his lieutenants. Esu is primarily evil depending on who you ask. Those who consult him and use him of course find him good until they are not able to meet his terms. Those who are victims not so much.
    Plus a lot of Nigerian Yoruba people while obviously following modern religions i.e Islam or Christianity still maintain their cultural relationships(low/key). They are probably the most religiously tolerant people in the world with each member of a family free to practice whatever they want to.
    Overall great video.

      @atobiteadedunjoye1207 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Esu isn't primarily evil, that's not what he symbolizes. He functions so much more as a messengers between us and other orishá. There's a saying that before we give any orishá an offering, we give Esu first. He's very important to every single ẹbọ and veneration. He's not an evil deity nor is he necessarily good, the lines are blurred. It's because of Christianity that dubbed his name to mean the Abrahamic devil that there's this misconception.
