I love the drop shot, in waters here I find 18-20" best most places, but few I tighten up to 12".. never thought of weight, tyvm tc 🎣
Always my favorite technique for bass fishing here at lake Oroville and the mm robo worm is great my second favorite color is purple smoke
The Berkeley max cent minows in natural Chad is hands down the best smallmouth killer. It gets bit constantly.
All very good info. I must agree I just make my leader length 12” and go with it. Now I will e experiment with longer lengths. Also I have only used 1/4 oz weights. I will vary my weights. Is it hard casting a 36” long leader? Do you by chance run 2 drop shot rods on your boat? One pole maybe 6’ to drop directly beneath the front transducer and say a 7’6” for casting outwards the longer leader dropshots. Thanks.
It does make it more difficult to cast. Lighter weight means less distance etc. but it pays off normally if you're not getting bites on heavier weight and shorter leader. 18-24" leader and 1/8oz is my normal go to. Also, rod length is debatable. I have a 7' med/light fast action. I always go with an offset or straight shank hook and texpose the bait. Open hooks are a no go in my waters but I can definitely see the benefits if you can get away with it. Hopefully that helps. I fish the drop shot more than anything.
I fish alot of ponds so sometimes for me a leader shorter than 12 inches works well
Great information thank you
Man your good enough an are consistent enough to where I gotta ask if we can start splitting the episodes lake Champlain is my home lake could we start doing some smallmouth targeted episodes as Wel ?
Great video!!! Awesome tips!!! Will give those tips a whirl!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
“A number a years”
Good stuff bro!!!
there has to be a compilation of tyler starting his videos the same way 😆
I love an 1/8th ounce drop in less than 5ft
What type of water visibility do you fish the drop shot? I've tried a couple of times but most of my water is stained on a good day
@tylerbergerfishing which Cobb series are you using for drop shots? I’ve been looking at the 7’3” medium light extra fast. Can’t tell if that’s what you have in your video here or if it’s the medium 7 footer.
Kayak fishing I throw a dropshot often shallow, you will pick up a lot of fish that are not eating the bigger baits
Have you ever tried fishing a drop shot using a lightweight jig as your sinker?
In our state we're allowed to fish with two separate hooks on our line.
In my mind I can easily picture a conventional drop shot rig with a jig as my sinker allowing one to cover two water levels at once possibly doubling your chances of a hook up.
A Ned works better, i use weedless 🤫🔥
Yes that can be great but it’s not legal in some states
Any recommendations on Hooks? Or did i completely space out on that part lol?
i see you texas rigged yours, i have been chin hooking on a circle hook to keep it weightless, but want to try texas rigging it.
I like using mosquito hooks in size 6, 4, 2, and 1. Just like weights, use the smallest one you can get away with.
@@adougslife thanks dude appreciate it. I always avoided throwing the drop shot.. but there is no denying ability.
👍
The drop shot is legit always rigged on one of my poles.
