    We've all been there, your Keurig coffee maker is taking forever to make a cup of coffee. Keurig coffee makers are subject to slowing down and getting plugged up because of minerals in our water. On this TH-cam video, How To Clean A Keurig Coffee Maker, we will show you step-by-step directions on how to clean your Keurig coffee maker. We use the official Keurig descaling solution, because we believe that's what works best. Obviously you can use white vinegar or any other cleaning solution that is not harmful to humans, but the Keurig descaling solution seems to work best for us. We invite you to watch our video on how to clean a Keurig coffee maker and let us know what you think in the comment section. In the video, we show you the official method recommended by your coffee maker manufacturer, Keurig. The instructions are printed on the label but they are incredibly difficult to read. In this TH-cam video, we show you the step by step procedure as described by the manufacturer. Most of us have some sort of minerals in our water. Minerals in water are what cause problems. If you have particularly hard water, you will need to clean your coffee maker more often. If you don't clean your coffee maker and you have hard water, your Keurig coffee maker could become completely clogged. It's a good idea to clean your coffee maker twice a year if you have hard water. It's very important to clean your coffee maker if you have hard water that includes calcium. Calcium can completely plug up a Keurig coffee maker. Using the method described in the video a couple of times per year, will help you make Keurig coffee clean so that it can brew coffee fast!

    I have a question for anyone that should know the answer.
    A keurig customer service rep once told me on the phone that if we use RO water we won't even need to use the filters. Is this true?
    Also, she told me that if I am using RO water, that I NEED to sometimes add a water to my reservoir that does contain minerals (once a week, for example). She said Keurigs were produced to best work with a water carrying minerals. For example, she mentioned spring water....to sometimes pour a little spring water in it as to NOT confuse the sensors/system which was manufactured to work best WITH mineral water. It will prolong the life of my Keurig machine. My mother told the same thing and she also uses RO water. Does anyone know this to be accurate information, or are they trying to pull wool over our eyes so that we will just need to by a new one sooner?
    Thanks~~~

      Money! It's always about the money. It cost money to distill water and there isn't much of a demand for it. Also some folks like the minerals. The minerals are added to filtered water in some water brands, Mike ☺

    How about spring water is that the same as distilled

    • @Getmytips
      @Getmytips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JT 1200, no no not at all. Spring water is essentially the opposite of distilled water. Spring water has lots of minerals in it and no telling what they might be. I prefer to drink spring bottled water because it's the minerals that give it a little bit of flavor. Also your body needs the minerals to function properly. But your coffee maker will not benefit from the use of spring water, Mike ☺

    Question: would using reverse osmosis water be as effective as distilled water? I use RO water in my steam vaporizers and it seems that there is a small salt build up on the heating elements( because we have a softener,too). I’m thinking the same thing may happen in the Keurig. What are your thoughts?

    • @Getmytips

    Your machine doesn't have a charcoal filter like mine...K55 select....model.....and vinegar will do the same if allowed to soak and rinsed several times...also. I do a small cup brew with just water after every use...keeps it clean....I think my combined machine and filter does a better job then your chemicals....never had a clog in 1/1/2 years.....also..coffee only in my machine ...hot chocolate and tea just need hot water no pods..

    • @Getmytips
      @Getmytips  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William, tanks for your comment. The effectiveness of vinegar depends on the quality of the water that goes into the coffee maker. In other words, different areas have different types of minerals in their water. For me, vinegar did not seem to be that effective. That's why I switched and used a descaling solution.

    Ironically.. I had the kureg I'm using for a couple years. I'd never run any solution threw it before and it worked fine. A friend of mine convinced me that I needed to run this solution threw it from time to time. Well I did. Now I have all kinds of problems with it. Like slow brews.. not filling all the way up or completely stopping all together. It's a freaking nightmare now. I'd say if you pot works fine and the coffee is good. Don't touch it.

    • @Getmytips
      @Getmytips  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear that you had a no problem. I'll be willing to guess that you live in an area where the water is high in calcium carbonate. If you don't clean it often you'll wind up with a situation that once it starts to slow down and get slightly restricted if you do clean it, the cleaner breaks loose too much of the calcium. So if you know that you live in an area where the water is high with minerals especially calcium, you should clean the coffee-maker more often and then you won't have any problem. Mike
