      👍 ETA is really helpful for folks who do not already have shelves full of PC parts or who are not trying to build a $2k+ rig. Really has fiscally sound ideas for devices. "It's really up to you," is deep philosophy.

      A lot of it is the fact that people's expectations for resolutions have just been completely spoiled. The games actually are still impressive at 1080p to someone who isn't intimately familiar with the finer points of video game graphics

      It sucks that we can't build a Gaming PC that is more powerful than the new-generation consoles (XsX), at a small console-like size. Not even mentioning the current parts costs.
      During the late-PS3 era (2011) to the (2015) PS4 era, and then Xbox One X era (2019). It was possible to build a HTPC that would rival the consoles in performance, size, and to some extent cost.

    What's the best gaming PC or laptop for $500 to $600? It's for my kids..they want it for Minecraft,Roblox,and etc. Nothing crazy. They have Minecraft for PS4 but apparently there is way more to Minecraft on PC or Laptop. Need a durable, reliable,and solid performing for it's price range. I mean these games aren't or shouldn't be that demanding so there hopefully won't be an issue with playing these with high to ultra settings.

  • @allthings3d
    @allthings3d ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yep PCIe 4th gen really does help and I noticed you DID buy a PCIe 4th gen extension cable. I personally would have gone with a 4-lane cable and ensure it is secured on both ends since the 16-lane cable impedes airflow and the RX6400 ONLY using 4-lanes. Also, the RX6400 aluminum cowl from this company is poorly design and I found air leaks around the PCB causes hotspots on the system motherboard. I use my go-to Tesa 51016 high temp wrapping tape to seal the sides open between the cowl and the GPU PCB to ensure airflow is directed out the back and front. I also have a problem with the way this card allows hot air to flow across the auxiliary circuitry in the front of the card. I have also found you need to make sure the air is vented out the case otherwise you are defeating who whole purpose in the use of this card. In my own slim mini-ITX version, I chose to modify the cowl so that it only covered the fan to ensure the upper vented case does not impede the fan from spinning. Then I used copper shims to ensure a gap is kept between the upper case panel (with air grating), this allowed it remain in most situation a cool (35c) and no more than 70c when in full use. More important the hot air is directed out of the case instead trapped in the case, keeping the CPU cooler by 5c-10c. The fact you also have power supply in the case, means you have three fans running making this louder than need be. I for one like external power supplies because you can replace the 19VDC with 6-10AH Li-ION power tool batteries for 1-4 hours of operation. With a simple USB based voltage monitoring tool, you can create a simple way to monitor and power down the PC before the battery goes below minimal voltage (about 17VDC). One last thing. You can find adhesive backed silicone sheets that can be cut to ensure the back of some of these cards provide electrical and heat insulation. I have used it on several builds, including the M6/RX6400 foldable - which is pretty cool to stuff a full operational dGPU/CPU Windows based system in your back pocket or cargo pants pocket. Why? As you would say, because I can. :)

  • @tubaleviao
    @tubaleviao 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I was able to build the same PC, although the power supply is getting pretty hot and loud. The AMD Radeon RX 6400 specs says that we should not use less than 350W and these power supply are around $100 right now ($60 more expansive than the 300W: which disappeared from Amazon). So I guess I'll just use it until it explodes

      The airflow should be okay with both of them even under heavy loads, these aren't parts that'll get particularly hot. The loads of mesh around the parts should also help a ton. I personally would've gone with an i3/Ryzen 3 for this build, which would just help the thermals/airflow situation a bit more.

    • @alksdng97834y
      @alksdng97834y 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fred Manson on top of that you can argue that 4k is unnecessary entirely, and new top of the line hardware cant run it at high fps anyway. • @Void-by3ti
      @Void-by3ti 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lorenzovanoordt7894 I can probably bet your PC sucks shit lol. Been building PC's for nearly 15 years. Not everyone has the space or lifestyle to fit a full build in. Hell, some people like myself do have their own powerful builds and still choose to have SFF's on the side for living room/office PC's and travel solutions. Not every game needs a 3090ti and i9 to fully enjoy. This tiny beast is cranking out 60+ fps on 1080p on medium-high settings on new AAA's. This is about as good as you're gonna get in a case this small, perfect for those always travelling or on the go, low-powered, powerful build. Comparing it to situations where you don't have to make the compromises you do on a build this small is apples and oranges by every metric.

      @@alksdng97834y I don't disagree entirely. For anyone used to 1080p it's great. But personally once I went 4k I couldn't go back. 60hz / 60fps is acceptable and maybe 1440p at a push, but 1080p just isn't enough for me anymore.

    Great built, but I dont recommend it. Because the RX6400 is made for notebooks which have CPUs with a iGPU. So I highly recommend a CPU with iGPU for example the Ryzen 5600G instead the 5600X! Or take an another low profile GPU with OpenCl or CUDA. Otherwise you can recode no video. No Video calls, now streaming, no game recording and even no screenshots in some games.
    The reason is because all notebooks CPUs have an iGPU which can encode videos. Its not neccessary to have hardware encoder inside the CPU and in the GPU aswell. To save cost and reduce power consumption the RX 6400 has no hardware encoder. But AMD drop the GPU without any changes for desktop PCs. Some desktop PCs haven't a iGPU.

    Man, I bought some components that you had linked in the description. I was super psyched to build this little thing, but when I actually went to put it together I realized there's just no way that these components are going to fit. I probably should have been paying closer attention, because I noticed that the cooler that was in the link was not the same as the one you used in the video. It also seems that the riser cable is not nearly as flexible as the one you have in the video.
    I had to pause because I was pretty sure I bought all the components from the links you provided, have you removed any links from the description?

      I had similar issue, thought I bought identical parts but ran into an issue with the back of the GPU interfering with the fan blades on the CPU cooler. After checking over the video vs my parts multiple times it looks like his CPU cooler heatsink mounts different to mine (rotated 90 degrees with the curved heatpipes facing the GPU slot. Mine had the curved heatpipe facing the RAM instead, I think if my cooler installed the saw way as in the video I could have slid the fan higher up the cooler and made enough clearence for the fan blade but it wasnt possible for me without using some janky method of securing the CPU fan down.
      In the end I gave up and just ordered the Noctua cooler, its only a few degrees hotter but give plenty of clearence

    EDIT: I waited to make this part of the comment until I saw proof of my suspicions, and I should have just said it at the beginning. You have an air cooled system, with only the room for a CPU and GPU fan... that's no where NEAR enough room to move the heat out, as evidenced by the fact that the GPU and CPU on better hardware than I have are both hugging 80 C when mine never get passed 70 even on the most demanding games I have. Do not do this for a serious rig, you will destroy the hardware fast, especially in warmer climates. And there's no room to water cool this thing.

    Yes I like this form factor for a semitruck running car racing games. The extra cool thing was the lighting. I wanna build one fully tricked out with alot of storage for flight sims too. My last big PC build I added Corsair fans but the CPU never ran it hot enough so the fans never turned on. I think this the mini rig for me.

    I bought a Thermalright 47mm low-profile cooler, and my RX 6400 does not clear the fan. I have no idea how you did it. I'll have to go with the Noctua 37mm cooler.
    Noticed the cooler and the riser cable models were not listed. I went with the 50mm riser cable "Linkup" same brand, which I am convinced is shorter than the one in the video. that silly thing was $92 CDN. not cheap. I did everything the same but I have the 5700g and 50mm riser cable... I really enjoy your content!

    How is the noise on the power supply? I vaguely remember you disliking the noise on your R5 3600/gtx 1650 build, which I think was also a flex psu.

    Is it awesome thou? Not really. $715 and that GPU is really holding you back from a great time. MAME Machine and spare PC users need only apply, all others look elsewhere.

    What are the dimensions of this Case? Cuz on the amazon page this is listet with 18.8 x 8.89 x 22.86 cm, but it looks bigger 🤔

    Most DIY builds should as small as this by now, but no, bling RGB and excessive fans is the thing. Personally, I'd like a case like this but with the GPU card being external to be visible and no air restrictions.
    edit: additionally, we should get rid of rivets for cases so that it is possible for building inside-out especially for tight cases like this.

    the new deskmeet from asrock combined with the rx 6600 is also very nice and just a little bigger than this.There are some variants of the rx 6600 that fit like the fighter card from powercolor or the sapphire one.

      I have used the DeskMeet X300W with a Ryzen 5700X + PowerColor 6650XT (200mm length), and can say it is amazing for the size!

    • @nubz8733
      @nubz8733 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ultranique Isn't that case extremely small and doesn't have a cutout for a gpu? How did you manage to fit a 6650xt inside?
      Edit: my bad, I was thinking of the deskmini as the deskmeet isn't sold on Amazon

    Personally I would have gone with an i3 12100F
    Cheaper, lower power consumption and about equal gaming performance when compared to the 5600X
    Only productivity workload and high end emulation would maybe suffer a bit

    • @ashton9699
      @ashton9699 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even a lower end Ryzen would be fine for this build, considering that an RX6400 doesn't need anywhere near the performance of a 5600X for gaming.

    • @Praxss

      Hell even with productivity, as long as it's general productivity, there should be absolutely no issue with a 12th gen i3
