    There are many different ways to fit a liner into the helmet. I have found it easier to trap the washer between the tip of a finger and the liner. Adjust the washer so that you can see the slots in the washer from the outside of the shell. You can the push the rivet into the washer from the outside the wings passing through the slots in the washer, you can then open the flaps out.

    Ah, the playful tinkle of the washer ,as it falls into the helmet for the tenth time! You really need three hands for this job.

      Well with a little practice and this tutorial I hope that won't be the case for long :)

    Great tips, worked great on my nice SE66 Luftwaffe M35 today as it was missing the liner - took a while to find an original one but looks great now :) always hard to get those split pins tight!

    Looks so easy. Every time I do it my fingers bleed like mad luckily I was using a repro liner and repro M42 helmet since there is a bit of blood on the sides of the liner, not to much but it looks like YOU don’t cut your fingers when putting them in one bit! 😂 👍🏻

    A bar clamp works a lot easier .

    my head size is 7 3/8 .. how in gods name do you adjust the size

    • @MooreLeather
      @MooreLeather ปีที่แล้ว

      Adjust? No adjustment possible. As your head is unlikely to change size, you just get the correct liner for your head size - so 7 3/8 would be a 59 liner.

    I will realize that I know what I am doing when I do not leave a slosh of blood all over the liner! Easy to get slashed!

  • @9mmfederalrimmed235

    I just realised: Those liners are not original. The original M35 has 2 liner rings. One outer liner ring with provisions for 5 spring slots and an inner liner metal ring which has 5 springs and the leather for the head. The inner ring actually floats on the outer ring where the flat springs act as an shock absorber. I have not yet seen any reproduction to stick to the real original 2 liner spring assembly. This is not genuine.

    How do you find what size the helmet is?

    • @MooreLeather
      @MooreLeather ปีที่แล้ว

      All the shells had the size stamped in along with the initials of the factory/makers. There is also a way to make an educated guess, using a tape measure on the outside of the the shell, in the area of the two vent holes - measure the exterior circumference - to get an approximate size

      @Hans_Owner_of_da_Franks ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or else put a baseball cap in for rough estimate. (Use head size to help with guess)

      @@damnyankie51 ...subtract what?? To get the SHELL size, you MEASURE THE SHELL...
