Dawayne, Ned 29 year old young father here. I’m sitting out the front of work about to go in, left my coal mining job to start a trade- plumbing, not enjoying it the most but doing what I have to, to set up my family… it’s hard but worth it. have a 1 year old son and a beautiful wife- I lost my father two years ago, I’ve missed talks with him, he guided me a lot. These talks from you I can hear my father through your words, and I feel a little less alone. Thanks mate!
Good on you for starting a career. That is one of the best things you can do. As a plumber you can always provide for you family. A labor job like mining can be lost any day.
@@dgilroy26 I’m 24 and thinking about how far my career is gonna take me in the railroad. It’s great money but politics and policy as well as the insane pleasing of the shareholders is killing the railroads.
Your wisdom is so profound. And this is coming from a tattooed girl with dread locks, with a huge dog, 2 cats, who people judge all the time, until they realize what kind of person i am. Im a single mother, with a 13 yr old severly autistic son, whose father is MIA, and its ok. I nearly died in a car accident in 2017, fractured my spine and neck, and walked away 23 days later. I have a masters degree, and i dont care. Im more educated than all of the state welfare workers who dictate my life and treat me horribly. Things change when i tell them all of the letters i earned behind my name And i struggle. I really really struggle. Alot. I was a very successful Emergency Room therapist for 20 yrs. Now i pick up dog poop to earn money to pay for my autistic sons horse lessons. I take care of a womans house and cats, who is a literally rocket scientist, and I have no shame. Why? Because i hustle. Because i take care of my people. If a man showed up for me and my son? I would make him breakfast every morning. Id pack his lunch. Id wash his clothes. Id be like i will be your badass bitch. What you need? I am 100% ok being alone. I've raised my son all by myself. I've honestly never met a man who isn't either scared of me, or who isn't trying to manipulate me to get thier needs met in emotionally unhealthy ways. No man is responsible for my situation. Men love me for the same reasons they end up fearing me. I'm the safest place a man could be. I used to be an athlete who would walk by men and have them say "DAMN." But my body died in a car accident, and eventhough I ran a 5k a year after, have a significant spinal cord injury, raise a severely autistic 13 yr old son by myself, and have never looked to a man to take care of me, for some reason men are intimidated me and want to be my rescuing hero. I don't need a hero. I need a man who is as brave as me.
Everyone needs a inner Duane in their life. Seriously, I can listen to this cowboy all day long. Came across this channel by accident and am working my way through all the previous vids. What a stand up guy. Thank you sir.
1000% Agree with that. These people in our country that can’t decide what sex they are on a daily basis, need to spend some time with a Great trainer and some 2&3 yr. old horses. They’ll definitely give em something else to think about.
I'm a regular guy don't got a horse don't own land. The only thing I have in common with Dewayne is that I wear cowboy boots and that I enjoy cigars. The amount of joy and value I get from his videos I can't put into words.
I’m a dad of a 31 year old son, when we were raising him I was pretty tough on him. I’m a Gulf War veteran and I knew I needed to teach him that there is no free meal. He had the usual teenage resentment to me but I always told him I loved him. He started college and he partied and had a good ole time, he failed a couple of classes so I told him that I’m not paying my hard earned money for him to waste. He decided he would join the Marines, after boot camp and infantry training he came home for a few days. He came to me and said he understood why I was tough on him. I explained that I was trying to teach him that I was wanted he to be set up to succeed. He is now very successful and at an older age he appreciates everything I was trying to teach him. Thank you so much for your videos. I really enjoy watching you and listening to your thoughts. Thanks, Steve.
I’ll tell you what. I’m not a horseman but I love sitting down and listening to you sir. It’s kind of my motivation. The little kick in the ass we all need to stay focused and moving in the right direction. Thank you for your wisdom and time.
Thank you, Dewayne for your insights into horse training. I used to subscribe to the thought that "I'm the cowboy and you're the horse, so I get to drive", and then wondered why my mare and I never really bonded and became partners on the trail. Your talks have helped me to understand that if I want my horse to be my partner, then I have to listen to what she is telling me and give her a voice in what we do while still achieving the same outcome. It's working, and I'm calmer and she's calmer, and we are BOTH having more fun!
DeWayne you quoted Woodrow from Lonesome Dove in this video. My faborite quote from Gus that went under the radar in that movie was. "What's good for me, may not be good for the weak minded."
For starters, I greatly appreciate you taking your wife to the theater. Your YT channel is growing very quickly, and I am glad to see it. Wisdom is a light that should not be hidden. All the best.

Duane is like having a long distance man cave neighbor…at first all I wanted to do is challenge his perspective. But I could not stop tuning in…I came around to just having an open ear and just listening…if I didn’t see eye to eye…I did begin to see man to man. When something rubs me wrong, I need to be quiet, examine what it is that is creating the annoyance and settle it out within myself. I don’t have to like everything at a buffet, but if I take the time to try new things they might not taste good, but they might just be the nourishment I need. So I continue to listen and sample Duane’s buffet…and I tried Mama’s biscuit recipe…be careful where you light your pit if the grass is not high and dry !👍

Dwayne I have written before, but just want to say again how much I enjoy your show. I have never been on a horse, but love the cowboy way of life, love western history to. Love the channel sir, you ooze wisdom. Beautiful spot & way of life ya got goin too. I've always been drawn to that life, training horses in the middle of nowhere or on a ranch or somewhere. I think its the ideal way of livin. Much respect from Ireland.
Had a half quarter and mustang that was like that. Didn't like dead fall and wouldn't cross it. By the end of the week she was working better and with a lot love. Tell the momma happy birthday...belated of course!
They’ll setback against that lead rope.We had a blue-blood $30,000.00 bbl horse mare on a ranch I worked at. The owner hired a young girl to keep her in shape. She tied her to a horse shoe we had welded to the outside of the tack room door, something spooked her,.& she set back on a concrete floor and when she slipped, she went forward and knocked her 2 Top center teethe out.
Dwayne, I think I have my new saying.. "you are sabotaging my calm".... I love saying that!!! Keep these videos coming my friend and have a great birthday for Mama. She deserves it putting up with all your oneriness. Be safe.
Thank You Duane for all your content. I am Grateful and Thankful for your common sense approach to Life and all other topics you discuss. Thank You Sir Ron
Its encouraging listening to a man talk. Seems like a lot of people these days are out for attention rather than knowing who they are and being that. I recently turned 60 and find myself wondering what a 60 year old man does? I had outhouses as a boy and now I'm watching videos on a phone. I feel lucky that the younger part of my life was spent the way it was. Telling stories is a great way to pass on knowledge and experience and you're a good storyteller Sir.
Maybe too late now but if your around lookout mountain. The Tennessee aquarium in Chattanooga is where I've carried my wife. She loves aquariums but this one has a fresh water and salt water part. The fresh water has been my favorite of all I've ever took her too..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA!!! Dewayne, I don't have nearly the horse experience that you have and am happy to sit at the feet of a master such as yourself at every opportunity I can. Some years ago, I can't remember if I got this from a book I read by Monty Roberts or John Lyons or maybe some trainer or clinician I know, but the gist of the comment was to know your horse, break down whatever was needed to be learned to its smallest parts, and to make whatever we want them to do easier and more pleasurable than them doing whatever they want to do. Give them an easy way to achieve the desired goal and make the undesirable as hard as possible and hopefully less pleasant to do, which all echoes your wisdom to set our horses (and ourselves) up for success. I can relate to your experience with your filly. Again, I don't have nearly your horse experience, but after working around and riding upwards of two hundred horses in my life, I have gotten good enough to just "know" what I'm sitting on within seconds to minutes of observing their behavior. Which isn't to say that I can't be surprised, but in general, if I'm working or riding a new horse, I can just get a feel for that animal immediately. One time I was helping out this older (age 74) man who was a Standardbred owner and driver with and ran a Jewish camp trail riding herd he had. We had just about closed the adult camp weekend and were putting the horses away when some adult camper there for the Labor Day vacation weekend said that he wanted to go on one last trail ride. I wasn't inclined to do it, but my friend, this old man, said to me to ride his Appaloosa gelding out on this trail ride and have this other guy on this other horse who was about as motivated to go out on trail as a wooden post. Long story short, the Appaloosa gelding gave me a the "hairy eyeball" as I walked up to him and I just knew that this bastard was going to do something unpleasant. Sure enough, the SOB reared up on me halfway through the trail ride and dumped me on my entire right side next to a wire fence line of an open pasture while I was trying to help this novice rider who couldn't turn his horse to save his life to follow behind me. The Appy dropped to his butt after dumping me, sitting on my legs (which were wrapped in carbon fiber knee braces from old knee injuries), and then got up and bolted for the trees back to the barn. Annoyed with myself for letting this happen and being grateful I wasn't hurt, I told the other fellow to get off his horse as he was unsafe up there by himself though his horse stood there like a post while I got dumped right next to him. Meanwhile, I hoped the owner of the Appaloosa wouldn't get nervous wondering what happened to me and this rider when the horse returned back to the barn. Well, I sure was surprised when we got to the edge of the woods and there just 30 feet down the trail was this Appy with the guiltiest look on his face saying "Sorry about that." He was just standing there with his head over his shoulder looking back at me. I had never seen a horse with a guilty look before. I wasn't about to get on this horse again and risk getting dumped on a rocky trail, so I gathered him up, and gave the other fellow back his horse and we walked back to the barn. I later learned that night from the Appy's owner that this SOB was a known spooker, would turn on his heels trying to dump his rider and run, and also ran my friend's older brother (76) into the trees banging his brother's knees up badly. Sorry for the long story, but it's just to point out that it's important to understand what we're dealing with when we work with a horse's mind. And it's only through time and experience with a lot of horses that we'll ever learn exactly what to do in a given situation.
@@kellywalker8407, I absolutely believe it. I've never run across a stupid Appaloosa. They always look like they've got something on their mind and that isn't me -- unless it's how to make my life more of a challenge than needed. And of those Appaloosas I've worked around or ridden, at least one ran away with me and one dumped me (the one in the above story). Yeah, as nice as they look, they are definitely a "thinking person's horse." I thought Arabians were a "thinking person's horse", but I think Appaloosas are that much more so. I wonder how Morgans are. I've only worked with a few and liked the older form of Morgan.
@@kellywalker8407, great to know. I've only ridden a few Morgans and Morgan-crosses (mutts more or less) of the old style breeding. Loved them all. I'm not fond of this new line that's more "Saddlebred" looking than the more thickly built lines of the Lippitt look.
Such a pleasure and peace listening to you sir. Very inspiring and educational. Thank you for sharing ! Y’all have a safe trip and enjoy birthday celebrations !
Lookout Mountain.. Hiked that area with my family.. Absolutely beautiful! Enjoy the birthday celebration.. Remind me so much of the horseman I worked for on his dairy farm in the late 70's, early 80's as a young teenager...

Dwayne I find your words very encouraging. Your calm demeanor really helps to put things in perspective as well. I think I have been desperate for a companion because I don't know how to live with myself. Be comfortable in my own skin. A lot of my time I just waste doing nothing or playing video games. Well I'll try again and do some things I've been wanting to do, on my own.
This is a great video, My dad was a Navy Seal and he said the same things to me growing up and if people would follow this guide lines in life this world would be a better place to live. Everyone needs to hear this know anything in life worth while don"t come easy. I know this is getting off subject but today in one of our local high schools gang of kids beat one person up where he his in the ems was called and he is in very bad shape. If they were taught this was wrong to begin with this stuff would not be happening. I rasised a son and he would never do this to another human being. They have not been trained right. I can hear my dad in you and that is a blessing. Wish you and mom many happy years together. God bless you..
Yes sir, Lonesome Dove. Woodrow was an idol for me as a younger man. Somehow, I lost track…and you my friend, have been an inspiration to return to the ways of calmness and cowboy wisdom.
Good message. Having an issue with a young horse. He's had 18 months of training and is doing great when my trainer rides him. Most days I ride him all right. When he isn't good it's my fault. I'm going to work harder at setting him up to succeed. My trainer is allot like you what I would classify you guys as cowboy trainers. I don't want to give up on this Mustang he is a great horse. My trainer loves him. The problem is all me. I think your message will help me. Thanks
Thank you for your wisdom sir. Hope I haven’t been blocked from the comments. I thought about making a comment on a comment I saw the other day but I reined myself in and listened to my inner dialogue instead.

Love the channel sir, you ooze wisdom. Beautiful spot & way of life ya got goin too. I've always been drawn to that life, training horses in the middle of nowhere or on a ranch or somewhere. I think its the ideal way of livin. Much respect from Ireland.
Good word, thank you for taking the time to share it!
Happy 50, Mama!!! Thanks for letting Dewayne come out to play. 😁

Happy belated 50 Momma!!!!
Your views on life are amazing, simplistic, realistic and very addictive. Thank you for giving a strong message in this tumultuous time!
Robert, Old joke about why did Indians ride Appaloosa's into battle?
So they would be madder than hell when they got there.
@@cybrarian9 I trained horses for a living. Never rode a single Morgan I didn't like and that's damn rare for me when it comes to horse breeds.
@@kellywalker8407, great to know. I've only ridden a few Morgans and Morgan-crosses (mutts more or less) of the old style breeding. Loved them all. I'm not fond of this new line that's more "Saddlebred" looking than the more thickly built lines of the Lippitt look.
I don’t know why you popped up on my screen. You were right on time. Subscribed.
Happy Birthday Momma Wrangler!xxx 🥳
Happy birthday Momma!!!!
Such a pleasure and peace listening to you sir. Very inspiring and educational. Thank you for sharing ! Y’all have a safe trip and enjoy birthday celebrations !
I really appreciate your wisdom!
Lookout Mountain.. Hiked that area with my family.. Absolutely beautiful! Enjoy the birthday celebration.. Remind me so much of the horseman I worked for on his dairy farm in the late 70's, early 80's as a young teenager...
Hey man. Thom here. I changed my TH-cam name.
Enjoy the show man!! Nothing wrong with going into civilization every now and then. With an open mind, you'll have a blast!! Happy birthday mama!
I am 52 years old !!! and i cannot get enough, neither can my teenage boys. Thank you. Take care of your special other half
Anton from Cape Town, South Africa...enjoying your videos...thank you.
50 Years and she looks mighty fine!
You answer when you want. If people are Rude, just ignore it.
Happy Birthday , mama.
Love from India.
What story you tell can be applied to so much more. Thank you. I married a Kansas princess and have an honorable brother-in-law living in Olpe, Kansas. Thank you.
I can't imagine someone being negative to you or your talks they're so beneficial to me and alot of people!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! To your wife! I thoroughly enjoy listening and watching your videos !🤠👍
Happy Birthday!!!
Being a more tech-savvy type person in a very country-oriented family(Ohio Farmers, Texas Horse folk) I appreciate the depth of the lifestyle and the inherent knowledge in the simple yet rugged lifestyle. I work in tech now but never forget how to swing a hammer, carry a bail, raise a frame or carry my own weight. Keep up the wonderful work, thank you!
The Wisest Man on TH-cam. One of the few Real people too.
Good words brother. Thank you!

Simple & calm is definitely better.. I’m a temperamental scratchy fella too but I’m working on my calm..
Tell your lady happy birth day. I live in the flat lands of Kansas. Their is some beautiful county in the flint hills. They think the flint Hills are ten thousand years older then the rocky mountains. That's why Rockies are so much taller!
"scratchy fella" had me in stitches hahah Great talk today Sir, take care!
peace,love, and positivity ♥️
These talking videos have been very helpful
