I really love hearing how you became a makeup artist. Hearing that you got where you are by doing it all by yourself gave me so much hope. I'm 17 and i know school isn't for me but when i say that i get judged and i'm told that without school you can't be successful and it's just so refreshing to hear a story like yours. Hi Tina, I'm new to your channel and I'm so happy to know the story of your life. I'm 24 and is now studying a master degree in psychology. I have always be the "not so smart" kind of students that never get good grades in school. I changed my major few times during my undergraduate, and finally find out that I'd like to know more about human and I love psychology. I was struggling on what should I do after my current study, and I've worked in several fields and have just started to have a clue on what I would really want to do in the future these few days. I might still have to search and try hard in order to reach my final destination, but at least the future is much clearer than it was before. Knowing your story really comfort and inspire me a lot. I'm less afraid of the unknown future and you make me believe that I will eventually reach my destination one day, I just have to believe in myself and never give up thinking , trying and finding. Am in that transition face of deciding between passion or convention. Heading back to singapore after having studied in brisbane for my degree in business management. Currently have been blogging beauty bits but had never rlly wanted it to solely be about beauty. But much rather an avenue to advocate for women's rights as well as other social conscious issues. Been just absorbed into figuring out how to make my "brand/blog" take off in that sense. Just praying for guidance at this point. But yea loved your honesty in this Q&A Tina, you're an inspiration.

Now that I'm in my late 30s, I've realized that I'm not getting any younger and I'm not going to spend the rest of my life miserable and working in jobs that I hate. I subscribed to ur channel not too long ago I fell in Love with ur videos lol. And I NEVER subscribe to anyone. I'm 23 now but at 17 I started using hard drugs. My parents were devastated because they never did drugs or drank or smoked. Grew up in a loving family. So I stayed using drugs for 4 almost 5 years. Got pregnant and had a beautiful healthy baby girl. Left her dad he was horribly abusive and didn't want to get clean. Started over moved in with my parents. Been clean for over a year and am not going to school to become a case manager and sobriety coach so I can help people like I was helped. Addiction doesn't discriminate BUT it is possible to fight this disease and overcome it.
my goals are to go to uni, graduate and be the best i can physically can be. my passions are my two demon babies who i love to pieces and my one and only fiance.

It truly isn't all miserable. I guess some people jump into it mentally and physically unprepared. If you know what you're getting yourself into and prepare your best for it, then you just hope for the best. One of my best friends is 21, married, and has three children, and she's very happy, and has time to still work and have time for herself. I hope you have luck with love as well. :)

I am a MUA too, I graduated 1 year ago and I'm still in the 'for free/tfcd period'. It's hard, especially because make-up cost a lot. Like one foundation is about 50 euros, MUAs have to buy at least 5 different colors (skin tones and undertones) for at least 3 different kinds of foundations. So it's 700 euros easy. JUST FOR THE FOUNDATION. But it's necessary this fase, you have to make a portfolio, a name and, most important, experience. And I do love my job. I make up myself rarely (like 2-3 times a month) bc I don't care about my pimples and so on. Everyone has got pimples, dots and so on and I don't care what people in the streets think seeing my dark circles. Also, I don't like to wear things on my skin and I rub my eyes really often (allergies and sensitive eyes) so it's a waste to do a perfect smokey if one minute later I smudge it all over xD But I love to create things, to express art and give emotions with the transformation that make-up offers. The worst part is my mother sadness when she knew I didn't want to go to university... but she loves me, so she with me, also if sometimes she gets sad again or she tries to convince me to go to the university too. So, yes, I write a lot of things, but the 3 most important are: 1. I don't make myself up a lot but I ALWAYS take care of my skin, with skincare products. Always. That's essential, especially if you don't use make up and anyway, it's for your health itself. 2. If you contact a MUA, remember what we went through and how much we have to spend. Give us respect, we are professionals, we have to live with this job and we know what we do. So do not moan for prices too high. We pay 70 euros a plumber to fix the sink, although maybe he just tightens one screw. Why? Because he knew which screw to fix, because he has used his time and because he studied for that. It's the same for us. Please, please do not devalue our job and being. I've seen horrible things. 3. Tina, I really like you. You are sincere, nice, not fake and you give me hope about my not-so-certain future. Go on, girl ;)

It truly isn't all miserable. I guess some people jump into it mentally and physically unprepared. If you know what you're getting yourself into and prepare your best for it, then you just hope for the best. One of my best friends is 21, married, and has three children, and she's very happy, and has time to still work and have time for herself. I hope you have luck with love as well. :)

I am a MUA too, I graduated 1 year ago and I'm still in the 'for free/tfcd period'. It's hard, especially because make-up cost a lot. Like one foundation is about 50 euros, MUAs have to buy at least 5 different colors (skin tones and undertones) for at least 3 different kinds of foundations. So it's 700 euros easy. JUST FOR THE FOUNDATION. But it's necessary this fase, you have to make a portfolio, a name and, most important, experience. And I do love my job. I make up myself rarely (like 2-3 times a month) bc I don't care about my pimples and so on. Everyone has got pimples, dots and so on and I don't care what people in the streets think seeing my dark circles. Also, I don't like to wear things on my skin and I rub my eyes really often (allergies and sensitive eyes) so it's a waste to do a perfect smokey if one minute later I smudge it all over xD But I love to create things, to express art and give emotions with the transformation that make-up offers.
The worst part is my mother sadness when she knew I didn't want to go to university... but she loves me, so she with me, also if sometimes she gets sad again or she tries to convince me to go to the university too.
So, yes, I write a lot of things, but the 3 most important are:
1. I don't make myself up a lot but I ALWAYS take care of my skin, with skincare products. Always. That's essential, especially if you don't use make up and anyway, it's for your health itself.
2. If you contact a MUA, remember what we went through and how much we have to spend. Give us respect, we are professionals, we have to live with this job and we know what we do. So do not moan for prices too high. We pay 70 euros a plumber to fix the sink, although maybe he just tightens one screw. Why? Because he knew which screw to fix, because he has used his time and because he studied for that. It's the same for us. Please, please do not devalue our job and being. I've seen horrible things.
3. Tina, I really like you. You are sincere, nice, not fake and you give me hope about my not-so-certain future. Go on, girl ;)

I saw your make up tutorial a couple months ago and I liked you instantly and I thought I like doing make up. I'm an engineer by profession, however I feel like I'm no longer happy with it and I feel lost. Hope I could meet you one day and you could share your knowledge both in life and makeup 😉

I have known since my 10th year of high school that I wanted to be a makeup artist and a hairstylist. I am currently working on getting a job so that I can save up the money to go to school and hopefully start my own youtube channel while I learn all of these helpful things.
