  • This is a playthrough using Geese Howard in the PS2 version of The King of Fighters: Neowave. Read on below for more information...
    Geese Howard is the end boss of the game. He is a hidden immediate playable character.
    NOTE: Max gauge used for this playthrough. It is a feature you can enable within the Game Option screen.
    ===== HOW TO SELECT GEESE =====
    On the character select screen: highlight K' and hold R1. Geese will appear whenever R1 is held. Therefore with R1 held, press any attack button to select Geese.
    ===== ABOUT NEOWAVE GEESE =====
    He is basically the younger version of himself from Art of Fighting 2, drawn in the KOF style for Neowave. There are (unfortunately) some significant differences between the human-controlled and CPU-controlled versions of him, described as follows:
    ---- The CPU Geese inflicts extremely high damage. This is what makes him very difficult to beat.
    ---- The CPU Geese has no delay at the start-up when performing the strong version Reppu Ken special move.
    ---- The CPU Geese's Flying Sun Slicer / Buzzsaw special move seems to have far more priority, have more invincibility frames, and may even have larger hitboxes.
    ===== OTHER INFORMATION / TRIVIA =====
    ---- His sliding kick command normal has "boss" properties - it's abnormally fast, covers a good range and he recovers from it quickly.
    ---- He is the character with the smallest command/skill list in the game.
    ---- He does not have a MAX2 super move.
    ---- His strong Reppu Ken special move, which creates the larger and fiery projectile, is new to Young Geese (as he did not have this in AOF2). The projectile originally comes from his Fatal Fury Special counterpart.
    ---- His Raging Storm super move is new to Young Geese (as he did not have this in AOF2). In Neowave this is actually more like a super command grab, meaning that you need to be up close to the opponent and catching them with it before the move is carried out. The grab range for this move is terrible, you literally have to be right up close touching the opponent! The graphics for this Raging Storm comes from his Nightmare Geese self.
    ---- When is the CPU boss on the final stage, he always seems to be in MAX2 mode.
    ---- In Neowave, he reuses assets from his SNK vs Capcom self, using voice samples/clips which are changed to higher pitch or sped-up (presumably to make him sound "younger").
    ---- The game's character artwork was produced by Tomokazu Nakano, who had produced artwork for the Power Instinct games.
    ===== ABOUT KOF NEOWAVE =====
    The game is basically a drastically altered version of KOF2002 with many different and extra features, one of the most significant being the inclusion of an all-new AOF2 version of Geese Howard as the game's end boss. Neowave is a Dream Match, meaning that it is non-canonical and not counted in the new numeral progression of the series, which KOFXI started. The game was developed specifically to test the Atomiswave hardware.

    This explains why I could never get the raging storm to work in this game, I didn't realize you had to be so close.

      I remember it being the hardest and least forgiving claw raging storm input ever. When playing as him I have never seen the super flash for it. Strange when you think about it since it was easy to do in 2002. Good thing that his deadly rave on the other hamd was easy to do and busted.

      You have to be REALLY close to the opponent for it to work as well, like literally next to their point of contact (hitbox). If you miss the opponent he whiffs the grab, but there's no "spark" or "flash" (the super move indicator) to show this... you'll suddenly find that you will have lost 2 levels of gauge.

    I love how the 1st opponent young Geese fights is the Art of Fighting team. What irony.
    9:46-9:50 And Yuri got her revenge for the 1st Art of Fighting game...

    It is pretty disappointing how the PS2 version of the game was only released and Japan and Europe. With the Original XBOX version being released in North America.

      I like the "city at night" scenes. The night version of the Green House is pretty nice... in the Arcade version of the game you only got the daytime version.

    Young Geese just isn't Young Geese without his silly ass AOF2 voice clips.
    "Come on, yellow belly!" "Buzzsaw~"

    Omega rugal may Lee and Angel are never unused in this version of the game because they are made as playable characters and unlockable characters. too as well Seth and kusanagi has been added too in his version of the game. well besides k9999 he's an unused character and an unplayable character data is data still appears from the arcade version then in the Xbox and PS2 versions

    I really hate that they picked 2000's Robert that plays like Guile and this jedi Takuma wo projectiles.
    I do like the portraits (somehow I can relate Terry and Andy to Italy now) and Geese, too bad he hasn't appeared like this in the newer Slugfest games.
