Personally, I feel like a mix of Worlds upgrading and progression system and Rises variety of Kinsects types would be a good starting point for the kinsect system.
Anyone who defends the nectar system can't be taken seriously. Completely disregarding the 1-2 kinsect meta of 4 and GU, the grind for nectar was painful, and the choice of stat distribution was mostly meaningless. World's trees felt fat better, but it didn't solve the problem of the 1 kinsect meta. While Rise definitely has fewer options, they're all so unique and pretty well balanced. Not only can your choice of kinsect drastically affect your play style, but there are multiple options within even the meta category (assist) that become more viable depending on which switch skills you prefer. Unfortunately people just look at it from the outside and immediately come to the conclusion that fewer options = worse.
Yeah, farming for this video was NOT a fun experience. People probably weren't thinking in terms of quality. When it comes to Rise they made sure that each kinsect type had a sever and blunt version for each. Thats 6 possible choices for many different glaive types, outside of the meta glaives if thats how that player operated. I know the paralysis powder blunt kinsect aint meta, but the stunning and paralyzing into a powder vortex is so fun to me
While I don't disagree at all it's really funny how many more options they gave you when the Insect Glaive was a pretty mediocre weapon in Rise since it's whole niche of excelling at rides was gone. Just so bizarre they'd add so much but make the weapon less appealing.
If you don't like to really think about your build and just just want to hunt monsta, then yes In 4 Ultimate, the tinkering and uniqueness of the upgrading-system (weapon and kinsect) absolutely made the game for me. At least keep the unique weapon upgrading, not every blademaster weapon needs to be the same in terms of upgrading imo.
@ShmarveyXD It might be fun if the other Kinects were actually worth crafting or changed how you play, but that wasn't the case. It's also not fun for the other people when I have to take a break from progressing to collect larva. There's a point where larp becomes unfun.
Additional note for Kinsects in World and Rise. World: -Kinsect Dust have a much larger AoE with lingering hitbox on explosion -Things like Screamer and Flash Pods can set all nearby Kinsect Dust to explode. -Ailment build up per dust are much more potent than in Rise -Of course you can feed Kinsect with Iceborne DLC Rise: -Starter Kinsect has "Healing Bonus" which will heal Hunter when it collected an extract and return back to Hunter. -Powder Kinsect's dust have smaller AoE, nolonger linger, and less build-up per dust than World counterpart. -Unlike in World, everytime you put a mark on a monster, it will refresh the Powder Kinsect attack cycle to attack as soon as you make a new mark, allow it to produce dust in larger quantity with things like Tetraseal Slash or any Kinsect Mark. -Kinsect dust in Rise can be triggered to explode by monster attacks(things like Fire Breathe), and may also can block monster projectile, such as Rath's fireballs. -All Assist Type moves end with Kinsect outside of Hunter's hand, mostly they will finish with Kinsect right next to Hunter but this may get prevented by things like a quick roll canceling after an assisted attack. -Speed Kinsect charge will reset when you either shoot it out or use Awakened Kinsect Silkbind, but other moves that put Kinsect out will not reset it, and instead will pause the charge time until it return back to hunter's hand.
Of course recall manually before it stamina ran out will give Kinsect a chunk of stamina back upon return in World and Wild beta, except Rise but Rise has Kinsect Recall as a Silkbind which refill Kinsect stamina to full and if hit monsters will heal hunter and reduce Kinsect stamina consumption by half. As for Wild, from the look in the beta, Kinsect seem to take the role from all Kinsect type in Rise, but as a jack of all trade kind of deal. -There's still Powder type after mark the monster -Assist type with Focus mode -Speed type by charging manually to make it pierce and collect up to 3 extracts. All of them are tone down for balance reason, Assist is weaker than in Rise but can assist more, it may take a much less blow but I felt like the Glaive attacks itself are weaker to compensate.
I feel like there could be a middle ground between fixed kinsects and customizable kinsects, maybe have late game kinsects be upgradable with things similar to the extract skills, so kinsects start off simple without much technicality and then later on you get to customise your kinsects more and new IG users would already be familiar with how kinsects function by the time the options really open up
Too bad wild looks like a big step backwards when it comes to kinsect interactivity. Powder play is non existent due to the boot leg assist kinsect mechanic tied to focus mode, plus the Rising spiral slash loops also contribute to no powder since the bug has to be with you to use it.
@@MahnsterHunter powder exists, but RSS the new move is the by far optimal dmg loop. You can't mark the target and benefit from powder while doing the loop in the beta so everyone trying to kill the monster optimally would just get extract, spend extract, over and over again.
@@MahnsterHunter right, Tokuda and the team did have that stream and statement saying they were reworking those weapons, but we'll see if turns out good and not a brain dead rail-roaded play style for each.

I can get behind that actually. Though I do like purchasing them. Do we have footage on how Wilds is doing it yet
The lack of extract skills was a big part of why I bounced off of World IG when i tried it after GU.
And they were so cool and helpful too

@@higgsbosonfan Ye, but minus the larvae and exstracts I'd still like to see some adjusted system that isn't just purchasing a kinsect for money

The timing lmao, i'm farming nectars in 4u for my kinsects rn 😹
My condolences, fam. Couldn't be me LOL

Could also add in a S, M, L during progression. That way it can still be accessed but not too powerful in a way
I loved playing glaive in 4U/GU when they first came out but I really don’t miss the nectar system at all
I like gen’s upgrading system.

Man, sounds like IG and SA both have a "finisher" attacks that are the objective and the rest of the kit is just used to get there
