I was very honoured to have permission to film this private dolls house collection. The collector and artist wishes to remain anonymous but has spent the last 10 years painstaking renovating second hand dolls houses that were going to thrown away. Most were found on Facebook market place or Ebay. Dolls house crafts can be an expensive business so they make most of the items using scrap materials, or finding broken dolls house pieces at a low price and fixing them.
Dolls houses were first made in the 17th century particularly in Northern Europe (England, Germany & Holland particularly). They were made for adults, not children. They depicted idealised domestic settings, usually of higher status homes. One of the most famous dollhouses in the world belonged to Queen Mary and can still be seen at Windsor Castle in England.
I think this collection is amazing and the artist is very modest. Please show them some love so they realise just how magnificent this collection is.
Please accept my apologies for some of the shaky camera work. The houses are stored in a very tight attic and I had to squeeze and contort myself to get the shots.

I saw a desolate one sitting outside an Edinburgh antique shop, bought it cheaply and took great delight smartening it up. Eventually through my having enough room in my apartment I gave it to a couple for their granddaughter.(That should read my not having enough room)

What a wonderful collection! 😍 Thank you for taking us through the village and the explanation. I love dolls houses, especially the ones that are set in the Victorian era. My favorite rooms in a dolls house are the nursery/children's room and the kitchen. Favorite items are the minature foods (I've seen some very nice ones in the last house. 😀)
