Totally agree 😊 It reminded me of my recent visit to my local art "museum" (don't know how to call it, art gallery sounds like a place with contemporary art you can buy to me) with my partner. I did a lot of explaining about certain artists, methods of restauration and whatnot and several times other visitors joined to listen to my explanations 😊. Made me feel very happy that apparently I had something interesting to share. Lucy's videos feel like this, like listening to someone telling the interesting stuff in a personal way.
Thank you! This means such a lot, it's made me a bit emotional actually. I have often felt I am speaking to a brick wall about my passions but I have really found my people here, it's such a beautiful feeling to find kindred spirits.
I went to a Catholic school, around 1985 ish when we were around 14 we went on a two day religious retreat at a convent in Baddesley (just an excuse for a laugh for us and there were girls going). We slept on a platform/balcony that used was part of the brewing process, when the nuns once made beer, the platform was for them to put hops and water into massive vats. The priest took us on a midnight walk and we passed the house, they were shooting an episode of Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett, it was pitch black but the house was floodlit, I'll never forget it, amazing memory.
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing that, incredible! I love the fact school trips in the past it was totally okay to just kip out on a balcony .. imagine that happening now? I would have loved to have seen the house flood lit, I bet it looked like it was floating on the moat x
Its always a blessing to watch your history vloggs always so full of information about history 😊❤ a beautifull kind humble lady who entertains us all about history in the world today 😊❤ a true big fan always 😊
I really enjoy getting to visit so many interesting places with you. Thank you for sharing your favorite with us! I can definitely see how such a place would inspire a lifelong love of history! Shout out to loving and indulgent parents who wanted to support your special interest in this place! Can’t wait to see where your adventures take us next. Take care ❤
They were amazing!! There was no such thing as neurodiversity when I was a kid (like there was but no one said anything) and they totally indulged my obsessions with houses, aviation and later art. Later in life it became pretty clear my obsessions were just that - some can be very fleeting (trains 🤣) but those that stick stay with me for life and they totally supported it!
Thank you I loved this too and the entrance reminded me of Hever Castle, your presentation is so interesting and as I live in the south I never get to these areas.
Wonderful video again Lucy. I was struck by the age of this building every brick looked ancient and you told us fascinating stories. I’m glad you were recognised for your enthusiasm in producing this video as you do a lot to encourage people to visit. Well done to you and thank you for your hard work. 🥰
Thank you for watching! It means such a lot .. and yes, he made me jump, I was chatting away and he tapped me on the shoulder, I always admire the volunteers at these properties, they are so helpful and full of fascinating information.
Lucy, I keep meaning to leave a message saying how amazing your videography is, and your editing and putting all the little bits together. You're really very good at it and we really benefit. Thank you so much.
Oh this is so lovely! That's made my day, I am very much an amateur but really appreciate it as I try and stay calm and film as much as I can as steady as I can hold the camera :)
That was wonderful. I think you may have had an association with this house perhaps with a past life. I assume you are from the area? Well, you never know Lucy.
Hi!! Another fab video. We did actually here when our daughter was around 10 or 11 yrs old. She loved it! She's 22 soon so I think hubby and I must make a point of re visiting 😊, its been a while and we must use our NT cards as often as our jobs allow. Stay safe and look forward to your next video, Helen x
Thanks so much Helen! It's such a gorgeous place isn't it? It's up there in my best NT properties, I don't think i'll ever get bored of it. Let me know if you go back - I know what you mean about getting the best out of your membership though, I have gone years in the past without using it once - making up for it in spades these days though!
@@throughlucyslens I shall do. Although not NT we are planning to visit Shrewsbury prison museum soon. Rob Rinder has done a smashing 3 part series on CH4 about historic prisons and crimes. Led us to looking up Shrewsbury. Dropped you a 'coffee' via your FB page btw 🙂 X
Thank you so so much! I watched that WHOLE series last night. The Shrewsbury one made me cry! I'm not sure I could enter that chamber. It would take me a lot - if you do go can you let me know what it's like as in really being there? I want to go but that room keeps putting me off xx
Thank you. I just found your channel. It was fun to revisit Baddesley with you. A few years ago, I started at Packwood House (loved the spiral walk to the tree in the garden) and then did the walk to Baddesley. It was a great day out.
Ohhh yes! The spiral walk! You just reminded me of that. We often went to both in the same day walking across the fields, we often saw deer in the autumn: just magical!
You can't even imagine what it must have been like sat knee deep in a sewer thinking you could be found any second - all for the "crime" of following a religion. Blows my mind!
What a beautiful building, so much history. You remind me so much of myself Lucy, listening to you talk about your childhood memories and talk so passionately about the hall is so wonderful xxx
Aww thank you, it's silly really but I was really nervous about publishing this video because I love it here so much I didn't want to let it down! Really appreciate that x
Wow! What a beautiful house with such a rich history. I had not heard of Baddesley Clinton, if I had I would have visited. I have been to Aston Hall 3 times, My Parents were from Aston, Birmingham. Sending hugs from Auckland NZ ❤
You know this is terrible but I've only been to Aston Hall once! Because of all the cuts in funding it's barely open anymore - It's such a shame as it's such an unexpected place in the middle of the inner city!
Oh, I love Baddesley Clinton too. I'd forgotten how beautiful it is. We visited on a day similar to the one you on. Those priest holes too! We loved finding those at Harvington Hall too.😊
I've been meaning to go to Harvington Hall for years, looking at their events page I might book tickets for the Elizabethan Christmas event for the wife and I.
I especially enjoyed this tour, Lucy. So many times, you see a historic home that's been opened to the public after it's been lived in my modern people who wanted modern amenities and atmosphere, so they have torn out so much of the real history of the place that its history can't be represented without almost gutting the place and constructing "recreations". With this house, I can feel all the ages of the house, from the beginning until now. It feels lived it, not just a showplace.
Absolutely, I agree. Baddesley Clinton even smells right - you can't recreate the smell of age - it's not a bad smell but you can smell the oak and the tapestries. I've been to places that smell like Dulux and that doesn't seem quite right 🤣
Thanks again Lucy, Lol I push the like button even before watching =-). Yes I would be there all the time too if I lived close by. Time for me to do homework as I want to know how the Ferrers and others made their money etc. Love researching backgrounds. Thanks again =-) I can just see when you have 1000 comments going through them all each week. Just a thumbs up will do it. =-)
You know answering comments is my FAVOURITE! Love chatting with you all, it's just right I give some of my time back for the support. Many of the early Ferrers had "good jobs" like lawyers which afforded them access to better circles eventually getting into circles in London. There are some great academic papers written about them online though - happy digging :)
How fantastic! Some of my young people might be interested in this and I would love to take them if so! I love how honest and open you are about your connection to this beautiful place
Your visits are amazing, your enthusiasm is inspiring. I love visiting National Trust properties. From looking around the gardens the house too all the history ending up in the lovely coffee shops. This is one special house. Thank you for your amazing tours.🐞
Thanks Carole, always lovely to hear from you! I love them too, something special a good national trust day out! And such a bargain if you take a picnic and have a membership too x
It's such a fabulous place, there's loads more I could have spoken about but I am always aware I don't want to get too whimsical and stick to the facts - my mind runs off with itself in places like this :)
I really really enjoy your videos - please keep making them. I too have been obsessed with social history since I was a child. Thank you so much - your videos are really inspiring.
Thank you so much - I am the same, it is an absolute pleasure for me to be making them, it's an incredible outlet for my creativity whilst also indulging in my passions - I appreciate you watching so much!
Not sure if I’ve commented this before but I really look forward to your videos, thank you for sharing the place that inspired your love of history. I live in the US but would move to England just for the National Trust membership…and the food😂
Gosh! You never hear many people saying our food looks good .. I mean, we think it's great but on the world stage it gets a bashing 🤣 we would love to have you here for all the pies and national trust you can cope with x
It's brilliant isn't it, I'd stick my neck out and say it's in my top 5 places to mooch about, I hope one day if I make it to retirement I can volunteer and spend all day there :)
I'm happily catching up on a whole bunch of your videos. This was my favorite so far and I've watched an awful lot! It's your love for it that comes through, but it is fascinating place and I yes would love to see a lot more of it. I'd watch a whole video on just one room. And then the next and then the next lol
Thank you so much! Baddesley Clinton is so special to me so it's wonderful it came through on screen and you enjoyed it - I really do appreciate you tuning in! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your favourite place and telling us some of the stories that happened in that house. Really saw the best and worst of humanity. And whoever first told the fib about the pig’s blood probably didn’t imagine it would carry on thrilling visitors for centuries! Thank you, Lucy!
I think the person who put it there must have had a fabulous imagination! I can imagine some of the jokesters in my family doing something similar, Brummies love a good "story" to tell and this one is an absolute belter!
I’m reading the comments and so many reflect what I think about you and your excursions. I could be wrong, but I think your magic is you being just like us. As soon as I saw the notice that you’d published a new video I immediately watched it. And again I enjoyed it. You have bewitched us Lucy! Thanks ❤
Oh gosh, that is a kindest thing!! I've had a horrible few days .. car got broken into .. some rubbish stuff with work and I actually burst into tears - so let me tell you, you have made a "stranger" very happy with those kind words, although I see you all as friends who travel with me xx
@@throughlucyslens what rotten luck! I hope your car wasn’t too damaged and everything is fixed now. There’s a bit of that going on here in QLD. Just this week a friend had a parcel stolen from their doorstep. Not five minutes after the postie dropped it there, it was gone. Plenty of cars are being broken into for coins, tradies tools, anything they can get their hands on. Insurance costs me around $900 a month, but despite the cover it’s never nice to have your car or home violated. My 80+ year old neighbours phoned me on Saturday night, they’ve had a security camera installed. Look at them go! We probably all need to get security cameras/dash cams I suppose. Too many people are short of money and crime rates are on the rise. Work can be rubbish at the best of times, you’re a smart and capable lady, you’ll be right. I hope your weekend is much, much, better! Stay safe and be positive, you are important to your viewers. And remember to promote your kofi account, after your week you could do with a few cakes/slices/scones/anything sweet to go with them. J
Hi Lucy! Thank you for this video visit. I was fortunate to visit the house in the 2001, and it got to me in a big way, so I can well understand why you love it so.
I love this place so much, have been many times, but thank you for telling me more history about it, it give all new dimensions to it, and no doubt will visit again soon as I too love it. I would also suggest (although reckon you have been there already) Moseley Old Hall - it too has priest holes and hidden a King after his own father Charles 1st had his head chopped off. Love listening to you, keep up the good work. :) x
Thank you, you know I haven't been to Moseley Old Hall since I was a kid - I need to go back .. I LOVE the Charlies (as I call them) I was Charles II MAD when I was a kid, I loved Nell Gwynn and Louise Devaliour .. I really do need to get back there now!
I had visited with school in the 80s, but I couldn't remember the name and was quite sad because I loved the place. When I happened to visit as an adult it all came flooding back and I've been back many times since. In the same way you have, I have come here when I've been down or going through hard times and never fails to calm and relax. I especially remember visiting the church as well as the house.
I wonder if the NT know what a fan club this place has? Its honestly just got something so special about it. Thanks for sharing your story and ever you see me wondering about - which is highly lightly give me a tap on the shoulder and we'll go for a coffee :)
Oh Lucy , what a wonderful visit. You always bring places to life on the screen. I got goosebumps with this one, what a magical place. Not sure what you believe but I feel very strongly that you had one or maybe more connections with this place in past lives. Thanks for your gift of sharing with us. Love your videos. Xxx
You are not the only person that has said that! How strange. My beliefs are quite spiritual but not religious - but I do believe in spirit and past lives, it gives me comfort there's "more" it's a wonderful house with such a special, warm atmosphere. ❤️
That was interesting, thank you, Lucy. I've heard of Baddesley Clinton but never visited, so it's nice to see around. I must try and go there and have a look for myself because it looks beautiful as well as the history side of it.
Oh it's stunning! Any time of the year! Even in winter it's beautiful with the frosts and sometimes you see deer running through the fields: you must go if you can. It's a place to fall in love with!
This video just popped up on my homepage and im really glad it did! I also used to come here all the time as a kid! And just like you i used to be obsessed with the priest holes and the blood stain. As soon as you showed us that shot of the corridor with the red carpet i knew what was coming next! It makes me wonder if you and I ever crossed paths when we were little... two blonde girls running around the gardens, dragging our parents to walk faster so we could go in the house, trying to find hidden doors in every wall, begging the NT workers to let us through the red rope to get a closer look at something 🥰
That red rope is so cruel isn't it? 🤣 I used to strain my eyes trying to get at that blood stain, I can't believe you can stand right by it now! You know we probably did! That's such a lovely thought! You might have seen me in the shop nagging my Mom to buy me a piece of "Tudor jewellery" that made your neck go green 🤣
Absolutely gorgeous place!! Can't help feeling that as you've had such a strong lifelong connection to this place, that you must have had a "past life" there (of course, I strongly believe in such things, LoL!!) RjB in Oz 🤩
Hey lovely, your comment made me chuckle! I think rationally it's because I used to go when I was little when my family was a "unit" with my Mom & Dad and now Dads no longer here I feel like he's still with me. Ironically he hated being dragged around properties ... its penance 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly I hear about something new every day and wonder how I never knew about it. This house is pretty famous locally but so hidden away! ❤️
Hi Lucy - that was fascinating, and I could see how would have grown to love the place from an early age. Such a historical place and your enthusiasm for it oozes from you ! It's like visiting with a friend, down to earth and trying to poke your way into the nitty gritty of these places. Thank you so much Lucy, it's such a joy to follow you on your adventures - we are blessed ! Take special care 🙂 XXX
Thank you Michael, you know I sit here really emotional going though the comments because of all the love. It's very special and I appreciate it a lot ❤️
Thank you for showing off this beautiful building. My maiden name is Broome and I am related to John and Nicholas Brome, I really look forward to visiting there one day xxx
First time I've seen one of your videos and really enjoyed it. It's only an hour and a half from us, so I'm hoping we can get there in the next couple of weeks. We're members of the NT, so would be a fairly cheap day out for us. I'm obsessed with medieval manor houses. Ightham Mote in Kent is another great one and Athelhampton in Dorset has always been one of my favourites.
Thanks so much! I would recommend Mondays or Tuesdays if your schedule allows it, weekends especially Sundays can get pretty busy, if you so come down hop across to Packwood House a few miles up the road too, not as old as Baddesley but beautiful gardens and lovely walks ❤️
one of my favourite places to visit local to Birmingham, like you I've been countless times , it's lovely to visit at Christmas, often make the short journey to Hatton Locks as part of a visit
Ohhhh I've never thought of going at Christmas! It would be lovely to see the deer over the misty winter fields - this year it's a done deal I think! Thanks Tony!
@@throughlucyslens They usually dress the house with a tree and I believe they light the fires, did it quite a few years ago and enjoyed a lovely christmas dinner in the cafe on dec 23rd. not sure if they still do christmas dinners though, but it can't be hard to find out. I think they dress Packwood house too, not as historic as Baddesley but still nice to do as a joint visit as it's about 2 - 3 miles away. They usually do some nice events at old Mosely Hall over christmas too.
If you like Christmas events I can really recommend Hanbury Hall.. they do it 1970s style and it's such fun, they do a retro Christmas dinner too - I love it! Never miss it x
Loved this Lucy. I'm a huge lover of history and think I live in one of the most historic cities in Britain. I live in york and feel you need to come back and have a drink on me. Would love a good chin wag x
I badly need to come back to York! I visited in October but I had a 6 and 9 year old in tow and it wasn't the most relaxing - my favourite museum in the world is there .. the castle museum! Another one i fell in love with!
We love the castle museum too, definitely one of our favourites. If you ever are back in york then my daughter and i would be more than happy to show you and youre family around x@throughlucyslens
new to your channel and omg you were born to tell tales of houses and people, i really enjoyed touring with you, i might vistit baddesley 1day its 3and a halfs from me i live on teesside which is in the northeast😊
It's certainly a long way! I have never been to Teeside and I would LOVE to - I would love to see more about the mining industry and visit the docks. I am super interested in all aspects of working class history as well as the big old houses. Thank you for your lovely comment, it really made me smile :)
I wonder? More likely scrubbing the floors than anything else though! Thanks so much for your lovely comment and I am glad you enjoy the same things I do :)
Thank you for taking us to Baddesley Clinton, a place I had not heard of before. I did enjoy that, and was that a ghost? There was certainly something there! If only walls could talk, what stories they could tell us.
I haven't got a clue what it was, it was so weird! While I was standing there I thought someone brushed past me but I was on my own, I checked the camera when I got back and was like .. gosh.. but my husband thinks it's dust .. he has no whimsy ;) ! x
@@throughlucyslens Wow, then something probably did brush past you, how cool is that! It didn't look like dust to me anyway, just a ghost saying hello! x
My partner's grandma found a priest hole in her house in the 1960s! It had an original Tudor fresco in it which was carefully removed and reinstalled in Thame museum- along with a lot of her belongings after she died. She was a woman after your own heart and documented very carefully the history of Thame. Really interesting and I wish I had met her but I love the museum I know his mum would love to talk about when they found the fresco in her childhood home if you wanted to make a video on it ☺️
Wow, can you even imagine finding such a thing! Wow wow wow, I bet the local historians couldn't believe their luck! Drop me an email, I have 2 long term projects on the go (why have 1 when when you can have 2 .. or 3) because I would love it z
My Baddesley has to be Belton House at Grantham I joined National Trust there 18 years ago and been a member since It's been an annual pilgrimage ever since The infamous Wallace Simpson stayed there during some of the public outcry around the abdication Then there's Blickling Hall Aylsham Norfolk (film and military connections) Felbrigg Hall near Cromer (moated house) Similar to yourself, it's not always about the owners, but the staff, the associated uses and the connections I've been enthralled by my national trust adventure's, not only in my home county of north yorkshire, but Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Hampshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Cornwall Not so easy these days, but I try to explore when health allows, which I guess is the other draw to you and your wonderful channel Geoff
I think the membership is worth every penny too!! I think I got mine for the first time at Hanbury a couple of years ago and I haven't stopped since. I haven't been to Belton .. and I really want to go to Blickling Hall because of the connection with Anne Boleyn, infact I really need to go back to Norfolk because I fell in love and have been desperate to go back ever since!
I loved this video, like you I've loved History. With me it was first year in secondary school, our form teacher taught history. We learnt about the early wooden Keeps and mud huts. We made a model for parents to see on open day following year 1958. I collected grass and dried for the hut roofs. Other girls made pipe cleaner people made clothes. I would like to know more about Wolverhampton where my dad came from. We did visit family very occassionaly. In latter years Derek and myself had a few weekly breaks. First one in Oswestry at a Premier Inn, we drove over to Wolverhampton to see a couple of aunties for a day's visit. After they had passed away we had by then been in touch with Dad's youngest sister who lived in Wombourne on the South side. We stayed at a Premier Inn at Kingswinford a short 15 minute drive to Womborne. Aunty' told us several times to visit the Black Country Museum, we eventually, did that. ( I have seen your video of that visit, sweet memories). During another visit to Aunty's I met up with some online craft friends from Woverhampton. They mentioned going to a craft shop in the area. We didn't go then as we're leaving for home. But following visit we did go, It is at a winery. We had lunch there and I spent quite a few pennies. I've also watched your visit to the Austin village this morning, very interesting. Must get my washing out on the line.
Hope your washing came back in :) Thanks so much for sharing! One of my favourite history lessons was making a Roman SPQR army banner - I took it so seriously and spent hours and hours painting it, my lovely dad cut all the wood and my mom showed me how to apply gold leaf. I walked in with it proud as punch and it was in the school entrance hall for years! I should imagine it's long gone now. I haven't been to Wolverhampton much myself but I know it has a rich industrial history - I will keep my eye out for places near by :)
@@throughlucyslens I used to work there as a ranger, so I know it well along with Emmetts, Chartwell and Knole Park too. It's the only place in the country with a Grade 1 Listed Dog Kennel. It was made for the owner's St Bernard Dido, and the story is she was so big, they had to give her her food in a washing up bowl.
Hi Lucy! That was a great little tour of a museum/home you loved visiting as a young child! Oh yes…hearing a “ murder tale” and getting up close to the blood?!?? I would have begged to go visiting there every chance I got! As I’m sure you can imagine….The Biden Resignation today really threw me for a loop! I’m totally exhausted and feel like “logic” isn’t a word so many people want to relate too! Ugh! Oh oh oh…I wasn’t able to see Backbeat, the film you said was your very favorite about the early days of the Beatles. I can’t stream it, buy it, not available here in the States anywhere! Oh well, I will find it…I’m determined ! Have a great week, take care…💕Linda
Linda drop me an email (it's in my bio) I'll sort it out for you! I'm sure I have a copy you can watch through our server (my husband is an IT wizz - nothing to do with me) cant promise but I can try. It's a British film so maybe doesn't have rights on US streaming platforms. You know when it comes to world politics nothing shocks me anymore: I had a feeling it was probably on the cards, I mean president of the US or prime minister are both on my list of jobs I would NEVER want to do!
Hi Lucy it’s Linda the NOT SO IT WIZ! Went to ur bio, didn’t see e mail address of urs. Just instagram, Facebook too I believe, I’m not on any social media sites I can’t see an address for e mails. I know I’m missing something. I’m on Gmail, are you? The political 💩💩is really hitting the fan here in the States! I’m burned out big time with all this! Agree, would never ever want to be Prez or Prime Minister! 💕Linda
You know my biggest tip is to stop watching it. During lockdowns I was classed as high risk so couldn't leave the house, I was just watching the news 24/7 and I was so depressed. I'm an empath so I suck everything in! I said there and there "no more news" and it's really helped me! I might check an app once a day for important stuff then switch it right now. It's lilsparlourtube@gmail.com ❤️
I absolutely love your videos! Have you ever been to Belton House? I think it was the location for the 80s drama Mondial. I would love to see a video about it one day 😊
Hmm I don't know, I get attached to a lot of buildings in different ways, I think it might be because I used to go a lot with my Mom & Dad and Dad is no longer with us - but maybe! I'm open to anything spiritual x
Oh happy days, there - Surely learn the BAD in Baddesley visiting that place! Great place for a wedding ceremony - kick yoursellf Lucy for not bribing the owner (joke) ! One near me if you're in the area Llancaiach Fawr! Done a great job explaining the house!
I wish I lived in a house like that, I'd never be able to pay the bill's though, it would have to be coal fire's and candles. A bit like in the seventies when we had power cuts .
I was also an 80’s kid who often visited here! I was disappointed to find out with my own kids that the bloodstain belongs to a pig… but I absolutely refuse to believe it!
I love your little visits. It's like visiting with a friend.
Totally agree 😊
It reminded me of my recent visit to my local art "museum" (don't know how to call it, art gallery sounds like a place with contemporary art you can buy to me) with my partner.

Thank you, it's because the day I get to go and make some content is the BEST day of the week by a million miles :)
That was wonderful.
I think you may have had an association with this house perhaps with a past life.
I assume you are from the area? Well, you never know Lucy.
I am! I would imagine I was more of a scullery maid if anything but it's still a very exciting thought isn't it? x
@@throughlucyslens it was a good series! Looking forward to visiting there x
Love history of houses,so interesting, remember the roaming of houses, can't do that so much now, miss those days.
Oh, this was a lovely visit, like a fairy tale. I felt as if I were there with you. Best wishes from Buenos Aires
Hey Maria, I love having you with me, it feels like a fairy tale to me too x
Thanks, Lucy. I doubt I'll get back to England again, but the out of the way fascinating places you show us really are pulling at me!
Haha, that's awesome - but not for your wallet! There is so much here though you could spend years and not scratch the surface - we are very lucky!
Smashing video Lucy, so very interesting, as always!
Thank you, and you are so welcome ❤️
What a fabulous house, it's easy to see why you've spent many hours there.
Such a special place :)
hello lucy 👋 that is a beautiful house 😀 no wonder you love it so much 😃 and the poor priest,s 😪
Because of all the cuts in funding it's barely open anymore -
It's such a shame as it's such an unexpected place in the middle of the inner city!
Wonderful, Lucy!!
Thank you :)
Love tbe history of houses, remember roaming like you lucy, cant do that so much these days, miss those days.😊
You are super welcome to come with me!! I always feel like now I am travelling with distant friends :)
Super interesting video and what a place. Too far from me so seeing it through your lens is really nice. Thank you. 😊
You are so welcome Andrew, I love how You Tube brings a community together from all over the world who appreciate and can share the same things x
Oh, I love Baddesley Clinton too. I'd forgotten how beautiful it is. We visited on a day similar to the one you on. Those priest holes too! We loved finding those at Harvington Hall too.😊
I really need to go to Harvington! I think I went when I was very little but certainly haven't been for a long time :)
I've been to places that smell like Dulux and that doesn't seem quite right 🤣
Thank you so much, so interesting enjoy your trips😅
I'm so glad you like them, I adore making them and taking you along x
Let me know if you take them, the mix of stories, architecture and just the feeling is a sure way to get some of them hooked!
Another great video! Thank you!
Thank you too for watching, I genuinely appreciate it!
Really enjoyed this, thanks Lucy 👍👍🥰
Very welcome Heather ❤️
What a lovely house.
If walls could talk.. 😊
Absolutely - it would be the best podcast ever!
What a amazing house.
Thank you Lucy
Very welcome! Thanks so much for coming with me! ❤️
Thank you Lucy, I was gripped. What an amazing building and history with it.
It's such a fabulous place, there's loads more I could have spoken about but I am always aware I don't want to get too whimsical and stick to the facts - my mind runs off with itself in places like this :)
@@throughlucyslens Longer videos wouldn’t bother me 😁
I ❤️your passion and genuine excitement! It’s infectious. Positivity wrapped up in a historical bow. Superb. If only we could bottle this ….
Wow, thank you! I do REALLY LOVE things I love .. like with every beat of my heart! I am glad it comes through :)
Loving your videos. ❤ I am enthralled with English history.
So glad you enjoy them, we are so lucky to have all this at our fingertips x
I was there slightly earlier than now, a year ago and it was brilliant. I totally agree with you - fascinating and full of history.
Absolutely stunning place, one of the best in The NT book I think :)
Beautiful historic house. And it was great to get to know you on a more personal level and learn about young Lucy.
Aww thank you, young Lucy never grew up I think 🤣
Thank you again Lucy. ❤
You are so welcome! I absolutely love making them x
What a cool place. I'd love to visit it myself, and I can see why you loved going there as a child. So unique.
If you ever get the chance go for it. It's a special place :)
Not sure if I’ve commented this before but I really look forward to your videos, thank you for sharing the place that inspired your love of history. I live in the US but would move to England just for the National Trust membership…and the food😂
😂
Gosh! You never hear many people saying our food looks good .. I mean, we think it's great but on the world stage it gets a bashing 🤣 we would love to have you here for all the pies and national trust you can cope with x
Lucy - your Newfie subscriber here. Love Baddesley Clinton! A wonderful day out. We loved our visit there.
Loved this online visit, thanks Lucy from NZ!
You are so welcome! It always blows my mind how far away my videos are watched - lots of love to you over the sea x

Wonderful visit. Thank you.
Thank you too, I love making them and having you travel with me :)
Hi Lucy! Thank you for this video visit. I was fortunate to visit the house in the 2001, and it got to me in a big way, so I can well understand why you love it so.
That's amazing. It's just got such a beautiful spirit isn't it? Wonderful Baddesley ❤️
Just happened upon your channel. Love all the places you take us to visit!!!
Thank you for taking your time to come with me - it is so appreciated :)
Your videos are such a treat, and give me all sorts of ideas for where to go next ❤
Yes Lou! I'll take you here next time :) S will love it x
These old places you show us are great .
Thanks Annette, I am so happy you enjoy them :)
Really enjoying your series / uploads :) Thankyou
You are so welcome! That means a lot ❤️
That was brilliant thanks ❤
Glad you enjoyed it ❤️ you are very welcome x
Absolutely gorgeous place!! Can't help feeling that as you've had such a strong lifelong connection to this place, that you must have had a "past life" there (of course, I strongly believe in such things, LoL!!) RjB in Oz 🤩
Hey lovely, your comment made me chuckle! I think rationally it's because I used to go when I was little when my family was a "unit" with my Mom & Dad and now Dads no longer here I feel like he's still with me. Ironically he hated being dragged around properties ... its penance 🤣
Wonderful work, thanks.
You are so welcome! ❤️
A very interesting house. Some changes made by different generations which is to be expected. I can see how it fascinated you as a child
I loved it so much! Can't get enough of it. It always feels the same but I find something new. Thanks for your lovely comment ❤️
We've been here a few times. It's become one of my favourite places to visit since moving up this way. 👍💗😀

Hi Lucy - that was fascinating, and I could see how would have grown to love the place from an early age. Such a historical place and your enthusiasm for it oozes from you ! That was so good, I really enjoyed it...I guess you must have owned the house in a previous life, lovely Lucy!
.. I probably worked there as a scullery maid! haha. I do really love it though, never get bored of it! Thanks for coming with me x

It's certainly a long way! I have never been to Teeside and I would LOVE to - I would love to see more about the mining industry and visit the docks. I am super interested in all aspects of working class history as well as the big old houses. Thank you for your lovely comment, it really made me smile :)

@@throughlucyslens you never know. You did a wonderful job sharing with us. Thank you.
It didn't look like dust to me anyway, just a ghost saying hello! x
I'm glad they said hi :)
My partner's grandma found a priest hole in her house in the 1960s! It had an original Tudor fresco in it which was carefully removed and reinstalled in Thame museum- along with a lot of her belongings after she died. She was a woman after your own heart and documented very carefully the history of Thame. Really interesting and I wish I had met her but I love the museum
I know his mum would love to talk about when they found the fresco in her childhood home if you wanted to make a video on it ☺️
Wow, can you even imagine finding such a thing! Wow wow wow, I bet the local historians couldn't believe their luck! Drop me an email, I have 2 long term projects on the go (why have 1 when when you can have 2 .. or 3) because I would love it z
My Baddesley has to be Belton House at Grantham
I joined National Trust there 18 years ago and been a member since
It's been an annual pilgrimage ever since
The infamous Wallace Simpson stayed there during some of the public outcry around the abdication
Then there's Blickling Hall Aylsham Norfolk (film and military connections) Felbrigg Hall near Cromer (moated house)
Similar to yourself, it's not always about the owners, but the staff, the associated uses and the connections
I've been enthralled by my national trust adventure's, not only in my home county of north yorkshire, but Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Hampshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Cornwall
Not so easy these days, but I try to explore when health allows, which I guess is the other draw to you and your wonderful channel
Geoff
I can see why you love this place, it reminds me of Ightham Mote in Kent.
Ohh now I need to look that up and add it to my ever growing list!
I definitely want to go and see this place now
It's really lovely. Check on their social media before you do as sometimes the library is closed if there isn't enough volunteers x
I also want to go back to the Black Country Museum to see the 1960/70’s high street you showed me
Thank you Lucy
Very welcome ❤️

Hi Lucy, just subsribed to your chanel.Love your zest for history,i love it! Im in South Yorkshire, have you visited any of the sites up here?
Hey Lindsay! Thank you so much! I haven't yet, where would you recommend? I love people to be involved and if I can get there I will ❤️
Oh happy days, there - Surely learn the BAD in Baddesley visiting that place! Great place for a wedding ceremony - kick yoursellf Lucy for not bribing the owner (joke) ! One near me if you're in the area Llancaiach Fawr! Done a great job explaining the house!
Amazing! I love Wales as you know so I am going to look it up .. I'm craving the green green grass of my ancestral Home!
❤
❤️
I wish I lived in a house like that, I'd never be able to pay the bill's though, it would have to be coal fire's and candles. A bit like in the seventies when we had power cuts .
Gosh me too! But I've always thought that, the bigger the house the bigger the bills .. and the more that could go wrong!
@@throughlucyslens And the more it will cost to maintain it, still, we can dream 😊
Never stop dreaming!
I was also an 80’s kid who often visited here! I was disappointed to find out with my own kids that the bloodstain belongs to a pig… but I absolutely refuse to believe it!
Me too .. it's most certainly from a real murder isn't it!!
Have you been to Harvington Hall in Worcestershire, it has many priest holes.
You know not since I was a child! I watched a video about it on History Hit not long ago, I should plan it in!
