This is funny - I just uninstalled it yesterday, because I realized I was spending a lot of time on it but not really having fun. I was trying to progress farther, waiting for it to be more fun, but then I realized, “Wait, I’ve already experienced the whole game. This auto-grind IS the game. If I’m not having fun now, I won’t be having fun later.” And… that was the end lol. Uninstalled.

Always love your honesty, Joe! Yeah, I'm gonna keep playing it for now, even though it's grindy, specially for a f2p. Yeah, I kinda expected more gameplay out of this.
I'm gonna make a small correction, personally: Auto does play very well and so far I don't see a reason to *ever* go manual, considering that I grinded a lot for the yellow mellow ex 1 stage and I noticed no difference whatsoever in playing on Manual. The only noticeable thing was me to be present to limit break once they were available. I did die many times before getting two Watera Blows which was what I was missing to win the stage, and NOT manual play (in which I tried like everything, gameplay-wise).

100% agree. I'm frustrated at how far I'm behind from others even though I've been playing a lot. Needing to do co-op in preformed lobbies in order to get a good amount of co-op medals. I literally told my partner the same thing last night that if I find something I really want from the game and I don't get it then I'm done.

I have to admit I do like the grand, I don't mind the auto but the story should in my opinion force you to play through it manual, and was annoyed that they skip shrina tower, the sewers, train yard etc and so forth in FF7cc, they should definitely add chocobo breading so you can do race to get cash, lastly the point is to a RPG is to play the story level up that number pretty much it in a nutshell. I don't understand what you mean by that

I don't hate the game, but I kept talking about my worries about it when it comes to the monetization, if you've been paying attention to SQEX when it come to 7, some of the most expensive stuff is related to it. I think as a game it has interesting mechanics, but because of it's live service nature, there is no way that it would be everything at the start, so for the lore people...wait a year or two. The major flaw I'd say about the game is the frequent updates, because not a lot change for the damn near daily updates.

I'm enjoying Ever Crisis just for the fact that FF7 is my favorite game and now I can sort of be in that world any time and anywhere I want. That kinda feels like the only person this game is good for.
The worst part is the monetization, just how heavy-handed they are with trying to throw it in your face. It's reminding me a lot of War of the Visions, except while in WotV there's a strong PvP community and if you want to be competitive you really need to spend- there's really no reason to do so in this game. I got the one-time $2 gear ticket and the season pass; nothing else seems worth what they're trying to charge.

Soooo it can be an idle game... but I was forcing myself to play manually on higher missions playing actively... i find it fun to push hard attack mode never defense on higher power boss mission. An efficient load out play on 2x speed without autoplay was fun. Also auto is not perfect. You can wait to take action then stack attacks when u get FULL stance bonus. Also, recommended load out miss valuable support materia buffs... The event pumkin Ex required CRITICAL swaps up to a LAST minute win. I had to be thoughtful and level apocalypse up because it boosts wind power. The win was satisfying! EVEN at recommended powers that boss was tough AND i had a deadline to get it done. Certain enemies like iron giant have a stun mechanic if you drop a stat on it and add layers of battle depth. I did look at the weapons and picked priority draws allowing to get Aeriths Curaga A and Wall abilities. Its nice a pull gets me to use a character more. I am a F2P and my concern is this game wont last and I am putting in time. I wish they made the minigames back into the OG and fleshed out the OG more in future updates.

im enjoying my time with ever crisis in my opinion its the best gacha ive ever played at launch other than romancing saga reuniverse everything else ive ever tried was usually so bad and/or unfun im gone within the first week and dont normally come back (if i ever do) until the first anniversary because usually most of the issues/most glaring ones get ironed out in that first year lol
personally i think the issue for most is their going too fast i too have fell victim to this in the past with other gachas and have really learned my lesson not only does it quicken burnout but for a launch gacha when content is gonna be at its most lacking it leads to having nothing to do but here i am at around 40K power slowly upgrading my gear levels and boards lol with alot of stuff left to do i just use a few pots spend my energy and call it a day

  • @nemesismckenzie9660

I personally find the game fun, and tackling some of the harder missions can be very engaging because of different levels of strategies and combinations I can play around. That being said, I do agree with basically everything you said. The game is a massive grindfest, you can kind of tell this game is going to have that objectively bad decline when it comes to content and resources that'll slowly drown itself. This game also has one of the weirdest pity systems I have seen in a gacha game, because essentially it's an RNG with how many stamps you can get per pull and that's very daunting. Sometimes I'll get one stamp in a row multiple times, sometimes two and sometimes I'll get three to five stamps, although a regularly just get one every pull.
I did my own kind of test to see what the difference is between a free to play player day one, and someone who spends a moderate amount on the game (around $200). Have to say while my free to play account isn't that far behind, you can feel how much the passes add towards grinding, and how much having extra gems for energy, pulls, and the very limited time paid gem bundles you get whenever you do certain things, like level up a character's memory boards and they give you a pack for a bunch of memories, or getting a level up to level 60, or 70, or 80 for the first time and it giving you a limited pack for getting the necessary materials to boost it up. Personally I feel like the game does have some really good potential depending on how they focus resources, events, and if they ever change the necessity for grinding or make it easier to get materials by letting us trade lower grade materials for higher ones, etc. Although right now it just feels like a massive grind fest, that I would leave an auto clicker on to do while I do something else at this point in progression.

I think it depends a lot on outlook and whether your goals are to have an enjoyable auto experience or if you want to take on challenging content. There are multiple ways to enjoy the game. If you just like an auto game, you can only farm the stages on auto until you're eventually strong enough to do more things. They'll raise the level cap and add new weapons, so eventually the difficult contents will become less difficult and more easily autoable. If you're playing dffoo for example, think of it like do you want to just auto all the easy fights and enjoy the story, etc. Or do you want to take on the shinryu fights? (Admittedly, the fights in this game do not have as many mechanics as dffoo, but the game is still pretty new. They'll surely add new fights with new mechanics over time.)
If you want to take on the hardest content, it can require very specific team building and manual play. It's not just about the power number unless your power number is so high that you've overpowered the existing content. I got a lot of satisfaction from beating Ramuh VH the first time. I cannot beat the fight on auto, even auto with just pressing the lbs, and it took a number of tries to figure out how to tackle it. If you're not overpowered, you'd have to be a giga whale to be overpowered for Ramuh VH at this point, the fight has multiple mechanics that just don't work on auto or require specific team building, requiring me to build new weapons that I didn't use previously. I can list a few just for this fight to give an example. Just because you've been playing this game as mostly an idle game to raise your power, that doesn't mean that's the only way to play the game.
    Team building:
Needed to have an HP weapon for every character as his attacks could one shot without one.
Needed to have a matk down weapon to reduce the damage to not get one shot
Using 2 healing weapons made the fight easier for me.
Needed some water weapons or at least something not lightning, which was what I was focusing on in the beginning with murasame, so had to raise up new weapons/materia specifically for the fight.
Mechanics that didn't work on auto:
I needed either extra triangle sigil break from a weapon support materia or needed to manual to break the sigils in time as the auto was doing the 4 cost attacks instead of the 3 cost attacks, and the window to break the sigils is really tight. If you don't break the sigils, he wipes you.
I needed to manually make sure one of my characters did matk down before the boss uses his special attacks. I was using Tifa to matk break and heal but the auto prioritized healing over matk break, so I had to manually make sure she uses the matk break instead of the heal or he could one shot my character.
When he spawns the adds, the auto prioritizes attacking the adds, but I had to manually target Ramuh and make sure I matk break him as he uses a special attack while the adds are out. If you don't matk break him, he could one shot a character.
There were times that I needed to time Aerith's heal or manually heal as the auto didn't heal fast enough to keep up with the damage.

I was hoping the story mode would catch me up on FF7 lore because despite my love of the series I've never actually made time for FF7? But the idle aspect of gameplay drove me away. I appreciated other FF mobile titles because it felt like there was at least a legitimate game buried underneath the mobile grind but there's no meat on the bones of Ever Crisis. It's just not for me.
Know what has been great though? Megaman X Dive Offline. If you're gonna put out a character collector title, that's how you do it. I paid $30 for a whole-ass game I can play at my leisure, knowing there's no meta to keep up with and no paid banners and no windows of opportunity to pull my favorite character/armor/weapon/etc. It's all just sat there waiting to be unlocked by me just playing the game. What a novel idea!

Well was interested in the initial advertisement of the game the thought of a all in one FF7 title was one of the biggest reasons I initially played but as time went on lost interest plus the aggressive monetizing from the in game pop ups further pushed me away I play from time to time when bored but I don’t grind it feel like it’s just a auto type game with not much to do once you beat the initial story content which is the better thing in the game but not able to play that much I don’t really care for the other things the game has only interested in story stuff and wished the game was true to that aspect but since it’s a mobile title and square liking money it’s just a money grab and not worth much playing if any as a f2p player

I hear both games are nearing the end of their expected lifespan, but even then, I won't be playing Ever Crisis. Doesn't feel like there's a point.

If you think this is a grind you’ve never played WoTV 😊 they need to up the rates, maybe reduce stamina requirements and allow at least a 6 run instead of 3, the battle tower is ok and the crisis dungeon. Hope once you initially grind the majority of your weapons to 90 then you only need to grind new weapons you pull, cause initially you need 15 weapons to 90, then maybe you are pulling maybe few new weapons a month, and all your characters are 90. Need more content but the new ranked dungeon is out soon, fingers crossed it eases up.

    • @Joesephyr

I played WotV for 2 years, and ohhhh yes, I'm very familiar with how grindy that game was, but perhaps over time I've just become numb to that style of game after so many years of playing them? I guess I want more game with my game nowadays, you know?

    • @anandbala1
      @anandbala1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@Joesephyr yeah agreed most content is brain dead atm but I think its just the initial grind to get your 15 weapons to 90, good materia and characters which will probably drop a few a mth after the 9 you start with. Then its just the odd weapon here and there. So hopefully the grind ends. They’ve already added Ranked Dungeon so hopefully more challenging content is released and hopefully some side story content like FFBE did but like you said if its like this after another month or 2 I’m dropping the game. Good objective video anyway unlike some other content creators wont say anything bad about the game because it will affect their income the less people play the game and watch their videos. 👍

Loved the music though, probably my favourite aspect of the game.

  • @AnthonyGar666

i feel the same way however i feel like the "its not bad" part of me is only because of the FF7 mask over it. if it was the exact same game with anything else or a new made up gacha, the game would probably be trash. however im still trying ot hold on to this game but like you said, the stamina costs dont and reward arent balanced. even with the even, i do 3x coop and im getting 1 melon per energy used and i need 2000 for the memories alone.
i also think the game is a little difficult for its launch status. i mean the game itself is easy enough. the farming stages is easy enough. the power creep is ridiculous and if they continue this way with how much we have to do to do even the end of this first event, im not sure its gonna be new player friendly. i been on auto for the 0 stam farm for levels and it took almost or about a week to hit 50 for 3 characters. my power is about 90k and somehow i still cant beat the 5th stage of the second part of the event. as a free to play player i feel like the grind to get these event weapons are my main objective since that will most likely be the only weapons i can max overboost. and its gonna be pretty defeating if i cant get it.
im hoping the game does better but i doubt ill go too deep into it. probably do like dffoo, quit when i dont get lucky on pulls for a character i like or want like sephi and come back for daddy vincent and rerun the emotional roller coaster of turmoil that becomes this game.

Specially, given the fact that you still need to click "Retry", if it had a "Repeat this 15 times by yourself" it'd be a bit better. I do agree with some points, but at the same time it's a bit sad to leave out some of the better aspects this gacha title has compared to others. Perhaps the type of content isn't for you per say, but having such a flexible teambuilding aspect outside of the weapon banners, is a really nice addition which i find very lacking in other gacha titles. The materia, while it has its flaws, it allows the use of different elements, Def down, healing, ... to compensate for the weakness within your party. This results in F2P being able to clear all content.

I'm sure there are other people who enjoy gacha more than I do that will cover it in greater detail going forward, it's just not my type of game anymore after years of playing Final Fantasy games of this kind :)

Yea, this was a big letdown of a game. I wasn't expecting 100% gacha schlop. Even as that, it's not good. x3 or x4 if you buy the boost is still nothing with these drop rates. Other games have either instant clears, or can auto-run however many times you want including using stamina potions. They really went for everything. Paid skins with stats (can technically reach 12 stamps free, but that's with all of the current milestone freebies being thrown at us), x10 of a weapon to max it (ludicrous), multiple weapons per character, random stats on materia paired with those stats being randomly upgraded while leveling the materia, so even if you are lucky enough to get materia with the right types of stats, the important ones may end up not being upgraded. Spend stamina farming weapon mats, character mats, materia mats, summon mats, event mats, co-op medals. Tons of special and limited time offers in the shop. Daily, weekly, and monthly offers. None of the crystal amounts available for purchase pair up with how much is needed for pulls.
They really had the addiction & monetizations team working overtime on this.

I love FF7 but this is not it. Too many ads in your face and the unrelenting farming for weapons upgrade items. I stopped playing.

It is actually necessary to use semi/manual with harder content, currently on floor 45 and you cannot do auto. Same goes for crisis dungeons.

Glad I skipped this game. As soon as I started hearing how grindy it was I decided, “That’s a no from me dawg.” I’m pretty much gacha’d out.

I usually like idle games with this one having an FF skin and a gorgeous one at that since I leave them on the side while I do other things but the problem with this game is that menu navigation feels so slow and unintuitive
there are so many presses and loading to do basic things such as looking for the characters stat tree, weapon upgrade menu, etc.
and with menu navigation being the only point where player input is needed and navigation feels this awful the game feels like such a slog

First Soldier was a much better game….
They should have made TFS with the graphic fidelity like this game (normal fist not big toy gloves) and made it a PC/console/cellphone game with more dedication with stretched out season and deeper story mode aspect closer to genshin.
This Ever crisis game is a very boring cash grab grind. Pay money to grind the same fight over and over and see nothing new.

I considered the game. Even re-rolled a bunch trying to get some choice stuff. But then I just thought about it. What I was hearing about the systems and upgrades seemed complicated and clunky. DFFOO, especially in the beginning, was relatively straight forward. The gameplay didn't seem all that great. And even if there was really hard content, I never really end up doing a lot of it in these games. I'm not that great, don't care enough, and it doesn't end up being all that fun. Just get sucked into obligation. So I deleted it. Decided not to get sucked into another mobile game. I have a huge backlog of other games I don't get to as is, I can't waste more time on these. Record Keeper and then Dissidia (with Tales of Rays briefly before global died) sucked up a lot of time over the years. No more.

This is essentially how I feel, it's not that I hate these games, there's just other experiences, especially in the Final Fantasy spectrum, that I'd rather be having, you know?

Still better than DFFOO??? Dffoo is in allmost everything better than any other gacha game. Its not perfect, but dffoo is the only gacha game, where i didnt regret spending some money.

Opera Omnia definitely sucks now, but Ever Crisis isn't better. At least, not yet.
