Also there is no time Save Capacitor destroying the Gamecube inside meanwhile, it is in the Xbox and you have to get that thing removed if you want your console to not stop working. 6. Interesting video guys and as far as NCAA College Basketball 2K3 that game is expensive because it is SUPER SUPER rare on the GameCube and there are VERY FEW copies out in circulation. It is actually one of the rarest GameCube games out there. Now the reason for this is because in the middle of this games production run Sega cancelled all 2K games on the GameCube and so very few copies made it to store shelves AND they even pulled copies from the shelves. So as a result very few copies actually made it into the hands of consumers. Whereas on the Xbox version there are a TON of copies out there and it isn't hard to find at all. So that game is certainly a special case.
I thought the price on that slot car game was crazy until you mentioned the basketball game. Only Ted Dibiase is paying those prices. Great video again gents.
That beer sounds freakin incredible! Pretty sure Founders is a national distribution so I am gonna have to track this one down. I have always been a bit of a Nintendo fanboy, but the GameCube was the only console I totally skipped when it was current. There are some games I would like to get on the GC but still love my OG Xbox. So this works out well for me. Cheers fellas. 🍻
I can give two reasons why, at least for myself, I prefer to have games that are across all 3 platforms on the gamecube.... As far as actually playing the games, I much much much prefer the gamecube controller over the any of the Xbox controllers. And from a collecting standpoint I am primarily a Nintendo collector that generally only buys games on other platforms that are exclusive to that platform... Just my personal reasons... But great video as always! Cheers!! 🍻
Yep, I was in High School with the GameCube. Even though PS2 and Xbox was all the rage, it was just something unique and cool about the GameCube...you'd have to have been there or remember that era. GameCube controller was such a upgrade from the utter trash that was the N64 and its controller. I grew up with NES and SNES, and skipped the N64...couldn't bare it. People love the N64, I though it was shit even back in the 90s. It pretty much doesn't exist to me. GameCube was Nintendo's Badboy era with mature titles, before they went to utter shit again by catering to Grannies and small children with the Wii/Wii U.
That last game gave me a heart attack that is mind blowing I don't understand either and that's insane old games are so expensive these days that's why they are collector items
Great job with this list, especially the top two being so forgettable in my opinion (only gamecube full set collectors would care about those rarities). I have a few honorable mentions! -Beyond Good and Evil -Scaler -Auto Modelista (I think this one should have broke top 10...even though Xbox version is rarer! -PS2 is the common cheap version) And then for the Uno Reverse play... Teen Titans is a grail on the OG Xbox while pretty tame on Gamecube.
A couple of these we didn't put into this episode as we wanted to save them for the next episode we're doing on this topic but with the PS2 :). Cheers!
About NCAA 2003, people are just trying to pull a Ncaa 2014 on PS3/XBOX360, since 2014 was the last NCAA game ever released it became valuable to fans, so they are like "oh people like NCAA and this is the only game on GC? 200!!!!"
I can to a point forgive game being higher on sega dreamcast few games it does have that are on ps2/ gamecube because it last of sega console but gamecube ansome I usely try buy games when I find them cheap or ones that are only on gamecube but if it on ps2 or xbox ill get on those.
OG Xbox is amazing. I have yall to thank for getting me into it. For years i neglected it and never throught about the fact that its basically Dreamcast 2 AND plays all the 6th gen games best. Once i realized that i was sold. Now im at almost 200 games and most of the Gems accounted for! Thanks yall.
Awesome vid again dudes. You Know I'm going to love seeing the OG Xbox get love, I agree I always wondered why the Xbox Games were cheaper. It' didn't sell well either so the games are limited as well. But you are right not only do they play better? They also look better on Xbox too. In Highschool/College it seemed like everyone had an Xbox, You'd think there would be more nostalgia for it.
I think there's nostalgia from us hardcores, but I think Microsoft being more consistent overall in offering backwards compatibility across console generations has lead to the market not being as hot for OG Xbox games as it is for PS2 and Gamecube. Fine by me, makes collecting for the OG Xbox affordable and much more fun.
Nowadays I probably use my Series X more than any console mostly playing Xbox games from every generation, but the 6th generation, Gamecube was my favorite due to its Nintendo exclusives were hitting on all cylinders, well except maybe Mario Sunshine, never was much of a fan of that one. Mario Kart DD, two Zeldas, two Metroid Primes, two completely different Star Fox games, the last console FZero game, Super Paper Mario, Eternal Darkness, Fire Emblem, the best Smash game ever Melee! Gamecube was my jam!
Great vid! I'm drinking PINE BERRY, a double IPA from Mumford Brewing. It's a "milkshake style dipa", almost 9%, and worth *playing* for. Get it -- playing for? As in games, but also money? OK I'll stop.
I remember about five years ago, I was looking at getting a copy of a game called Gladius. The game was selling for around £20 on the GameCube here in the UK but only £4 on Xbox and £0.75 on the PS2....I went with the PS2 version for obvious reasons lol!
Not familiar with that one, most games on PS2 looked and performed significantly worse than GC or Xbox, but one of the advantages of the PS2 while the games were coming out, many were timed exclusives or just came to other consoles a bit later. Also the XBox I would want if I was to get the game as it likely also plays on 360, possibly XBox One or Series S/X if not now perhaps in the future, where Sony gave up on supporting many old games.
This video proves just how easy it is to collect for the Xbox. It's ridiculous how cheap the game prices are across the board! On top of the fact that they usually run better, this is why the Xbox is my console of choice, when it comes to cross platform games.
Literally just bought Gauntlet for Xbox on 8/22/21 on eBay, even though I rented and played it for GameCube circa 2002/2003. I had been wanting it for GameCube for years but made the decision after researching and seeing that the Xbox version is slightly better. It helped that it was less than half the price too!
Moral of the story: I need to buy more Xbox games! I just reacquired an OG Xbox a couple months ago. The price discrepancy between these games is one of two things...nostalgia tax or Nintendo tax!
For me, I just can’t own every console. So I depend on my 360’s backwards compatiblity to play Xbox games and PS3 for PS2 games. Which means if I want to play a game that isn't on that backwards compatiblity list I need to go GameCube. I also prefer the GameCube because it's not emulating the games like the 360 and PS3 do (my PS3 is the software emulation one). That is my unique situation, but it explains why I own some much more expensive B to C tier games on the GameCube rather than the Xbox which I agree tends to play the better.
NCAA Basketball 2K3 was halted in the middle of production and less than 5,000 copies were shipped/sold… that is actually a rare game lol. Hence its high price… it’s actually been around 200 bucks for years now and didn’t experience the spike other Gamecube games did in 2020-2021. I bought a copy 10 years ago at a GameStop for $4.50 down the street from Duke University… and im never selling it lol Def Jam FFNY has a pretty meaty gap too. Xbox version is going for 80 and Gamecube for 160
16:00 is just so true it leaves me speechless,it's just where we are now in video games I guess? Let's just buy what we like and can afford,me n Wes are legit brothers from anotha motha,I can't be spending that much on games now matter how rich I AM 🤣🍻🍺
The only legit reason to get the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat deception is if you want to play as Goro because he's a GameCube exclusive character
I figured there was something exclusive about it. But.......as much as I love Goro I don't think I'd pay that difference :). Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I'm absolutely blown away by the prices on Gamecube. Multiplatform titles like this have no justification to be that pricey. To me, its all due to Nintendo fans who're willing to spend more money than necessary. It's interesting that this comes up though because I'm currently trading out all of my PS2 and GameCube multiplatform games for Xbox versions if they exist. My PS2 library has shrunk a bit this last week because of that. Not only do the Xbox versions play and look better but they're also cheaper, and I definitely like the idea of having the better playing experience while saving some money. The original Xbox and the Xbox 360 have always been known to mostly play games better than their competition, yet both libraries are still very affordable. Everything else in their respective generations is going up or has had a spike in recent time. The OG Xbox at this point is just a ticking time bomb, sooner or later its library is going to explode and I want these games before that happens. There will always be a few outliers and the Gamecube and PS2 still have exclusives, but buy and large the Xbox library is super easy to collect for at the moment so I'm taking the opportunity while I still can.
There's a simple mathematical reason of supply and demand for why GameCube games are so expensive: the GC _and_ its games relatively bombed, but then the market was flooded with millions more GameCubes in the form of the Model 1 Wii's smash hit launch and strong sales, as the Model 1 Wii is backwards-compatible, basically leaving 10 "GameCubes" in the market for every GameCube game.
Gamecube collectors got the funds apparently. There isn't a huge difference in consoles sold so I wonder what the production runs were for most of these games.
I was aware of this already since I'm an OG Xbox collector, it is just dumb but I guess GC collectors really want their games no matter at what cost, for the PS2 vs Xbox one that comes to my mind is Obscure, the PS2 version is way more expensive, same with Silent Hill 2 & 4
Oh duuuude! I scooped up a TON of games that are cheaper on xbox! Timesplitters, goblin commander, mk deception, and many more. They look and play better as well! Shame the original xbox console is not as well built as the gamecube tho..
I feel like it's because more people have the GCHD/ other HD solutions for the gamecube now and they want their games for that console. I don't believe there's a solution of the same quality for the original Xbox, you can do component through a converter, but that's a pain in the ass for most people. You can also softmod your xbox and play the games right off the hard drive, but the GC doesn't even have a hard drive.
True but I guess I'd think that with some OG XBOX games being backwards compatible with every XBOX console that has followed would have more folks out picking up the games. Idk. Craziness. Cheers!
I think in the next generation Microsoft released an official device to do that called the Xbox 360, while Nintendo flooded the market with more GameCubes in the form of the Model 1 Wii's smash hit launch and strong sales that dwarfed the GameCube and its entire library.
@@autobotstarscream765 yes but not all the OG Xbox games are BC on the 360, and a lot that are don't run perfectly/have issues/glitches. I believe the Wii's BC was MUCH better.
Those prices are insane. I love the GameCube but I’d always prefer an Xbox variant. Most Xbox games support 480p as a minimum (I know lots of NTSC gamecube titles do too) but quite a few offer 720p and even 1080i.
It's not just when you compare it to Gamecube. It's the same with PS2. Castlevania Curse of Darkness, according to Price Charting, on PS2 is $55.24. Xbox is $19.99. On Ebay PS2 is $100 on Xbox $30! For some reason everyone is ignoring O.G. Xbox. Great for collectors.
You get Link in Soulcalibur 2 but you get Spawn for the Xbox. And if there's a GameCube game that's also on the PlayStation 2 I'm getting it for the PlayStation 2 and if I'm seeing myself playing it because I'm seeing myself playing NFL Blitz but work needs to be done first
PS2 in its heyday had the advantage of many timed exclusives that the other consoles might get later, but they usually were the least impressive in how they looked or played. So now 2 decades later, the best versions of cross platform games are almost never the PS2 versions.
Not sure cross platform games generally performed better on Xbox? I think it was pretty much the same? Also the tech was difficult o compare too in that gen as back then consoles were more like custom made gaming devices proprietary parts and chips. FOr my money the best looking games form that gen were Gamecube games, Zelda Twilight Princess and RE4 come to mind, looked great for the time. But I think there was a way to play some Xbox games in 720p with a special adaptor, where GC it never gets that high even with the best outputs available for it.
For me I just have certain games I will only plan on the console I played it on in the past. Crash, spyro, Tony hawk 1-4 =ps2, Tony hawk underground 1 and 2 = gamecube, so on and so forth. If I have never played it then yea cheapest choice is fair game.
I'd say there's two reasons. Numbers produced and sold then the nostalgia Nintendo effect. So Glad I collect Xbox and wii only. Some of those Wii titles are moving numbers now.
Retro game prices make zero sense to me now as a collector. For example... I got Def Jam Vendetta NTSC GameCube version on the UK version of eBay for $20... In the US it goes for like $80 Def Jam Fight for NY PS2 (Definitive Edition of the game) in the US (NTSC) goes for over $100 and I bought the PAL PS2 version recently for $20... UK eBay > US eBay And you guys are pretty dang spot on with Xbox in gen 6 but... Sonic Heroes is meant to be played on GameCube and nothing else, outside of that it's all just brand loyalty.
Possibly but a decent amount of OG XBox games can be played on every XBOX console that has followed. It's interesting to say the least. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
200 is insane, when sports games are dirt cheap .. Like you guys gotta say the complete collection and also just the fact not as many copies of these GameCube games were made lol.. lol it’s funny I switched to XBOX back in the day because I felt the GameCube was getting abandoned by 3rd parties in 03-04 timeframe haha. Also multiplats always looked better on Xbox

Im 43 years old and i love your videos, 90s kid here :)
Hell ya man! Glad you are enjoying the vids. Cheers!
The alice in chains shirt is dope! That was their best ep
I agree
You went a little macho Man Randy Savage there at the end. 😁
LOL! Huge Savage fan :). Cheers!
Video starts at 3:00 you’re welcome
You guys deserve more subscribers! Great content!
Thanks a ton man! Hopefully they will come with time. We just keep grinding away. Cheers!
Lol, I think Carmelo Anthony played college basketball in 2003, but that's all I got.
Seems like its just supply and demand. Im only guessing but, id bet Xbox has a larger supply of game copies floating around with a lower demand
I'd like to see you guys review some hard seltzers. Whiskey and cocktails as well.
This is why I am collecting all 3rd party games on OG Xbox and 1st party only on GC. Plus a lot of the games look better on Xbox
Great job with this list, especially the top two being so forgettable in my opinion (only gamecube full set collectors would care about those rarities).
I have a few honorable mentions!
-Beyond Good and Evil
-Scaler
-Auto Modelista (I think this one should have broke top 10...even though Xbox version is rarer! -PS2 is the common cheap version)
And then for the Uno Reverse play... Teen Titans is a grail on the OG Xbox while pretty tame on Gamecube.
A couple of these we didn't put into this episode as we wanted to save them for the next episode we're doing on this topic but with the PS2 :). Cheers!
This is random but I was gonna sell my collection but started watching this and was like wtf am I thinking
You quite thinking that right now damn it! Bad thoughts lol. Cheers!
About NCAA 2003, people are just trying to pull a Ncaa 2014 on PS3/XBOX360, since 2014 was the last NCAA game ever released it became valuable to fans, so they are like "oh people like NCAA and this is the only game on GC? 200!!!!"
Also love you guys, great video, hope you two are staying safe.
That intro was hilarious af
I been collecting for a long time now and you guys are right about the prices and I don’t see them getting better any time soon.
Glad your enjoying the OG Xbox! Its a powerhouse! Cheers!
@@zclary923 Preach!!!
Good video. Will you do a part 2 on this but, between the GameCube and ps2
Already filmed it my friend. It will most likely be out next week :). Cheers!
This video proves just how easy it is to collect for the Xbox. It's ridiculous how cheap the game prices are across the board! On top of the fact that they usually run better, this is why the Xbox is my console of choice, when it comes to cross platform games.
That hard drive doesn't hurt either
@@Station2podHost True!
Great video! OG Xbox is a beast! I still love the "Duke" controller!
NBA Elite 11
goes for over 5 thousand dollars on ps3 and 360. It was never supposed to come out but it did for like a day or 2 or something like that.
Another great video and original topic!
I bought a copy 10 years ago at a GameStop for $4.50 down the street from Duke University… and im never selling it lol
Def Jam FFNY has a pretty meaty gap too. Xbox version is going for 80 and Gamecube for 160
Hell ya! Killer score on that game :). Cheers to that!
16:00 is just so true it leaves me speechless,it's just where we are now in video games I guess? Let's just buy what we like and can afford,me n Wes are legit brothers from anotha motha,I can't be spending that much on games now matter how rich I AM 🤣🍻🍺
I think a similar video comparing ps3 games that way cheaper on xbox360 would be a good video too because there is a lot of them .
The only legit reason to get the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat deception is if you want to play as Goro because he's a GameCube exclusive character
I figured there was something exclusive about it. But.......as much as I love Goro I don't think I'd pay that difference :). Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I could be getting my copy of Nhl Hitz
2003 today! $12 on Ebay complete, for the OG
Xbox!
It's crazier because Gauntlet is a port of an N64 game.
More people just collect Nintendo than just collect XBOX. May be a reason.
I have been watching you guys for so long Idr, your names...think longer beard dude's name is Robert...but..:(
Original Xbox games never increased price like GameCube and PS2. My Xbox collection is larger than my GC by a lot.
Yesir!!! XBOX is so damn nice to collect for right now. Hopefully it stays that way. Cheers!
You guys should sell those Gaming off the grid cups
We've got some in the works. Hoping to have them available by year end. Just making sure the quality is there first. Cheers!
Just wow. I bought mk on gamecube before the virus for $10 free shipping cib. What a jump.
Those prices are insane. I love the GameCube but I’d always prefer an Xbox variant.
Most Xbox games support 480p as a minimum (I know lots of NTSC gamecube titles do too) but quite a few offer 720p and even 1080i.
Same story with Ps1 VS Sega saturn prices. Same games on the ps1 cheaper. Great video
True story. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Oh you just wait :). We have that video in the works brotha. Cheers!
Barbie groom glam pups on 3ds is worth $676.28. But you can get the same game on wii or ds for 5-6 $!
Sweet AIC shirt Wes!!
What’s your guys opinions on the whole WATA controversy I’ll love to hear your guys opinions
I think the difference is because people going for complete game collections for GameCube. Cheers!
There's not a single game on both GameCube and Xbox that's better on GameCube. OG Xbox is the most underappreciated console to ever exist.
I remember i had a choice of buying Twlight Princess on wii or GC. Im so glad i chose GC!
Does anyone know a plastic case for Intellivision games?
Retro game prices make zero sense to me now as a collector.
For example... I got Def Jam Vendetta NTSC GameCube version on the UK version of eBay for $20... In the US it goes for like $80
Def Jam Fight for NY PS2 (Definitive Edition of the game) in the US (NTSC) goes for over $100 and I bought the PAL PS2 version recently for $20...
UK eBay > US eBay
And you guys are pretty dang spot on with Xbox in gen 6 but... Sonic Heroes is meant to be played on GameCube and nothing else, outside of that it's all just brand loyalty.
Ya I've noticed in many cases you guys have cheaper games from this era over there. Maybe a sign of things to come on your end. Idk. Cheers!
Shoot my GameCube copy of NBA Live 2003 is only worth $5! Awesome video
usally the consoles with a small library has ALOT of expensive games even if it's not all that great
You might as well get a modded wii to play gamecube games
It’s probably not just nostalgia. My only guess is it’s probably because the GC versions are easier to play since they can be played on a Wii.
Possibly but a decent amount of OG XBox games can be played on every XBOX console that has followed. It's interesting to say the least. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Love the channel guys, “Cream of the crop!”
I think Mortal Kombat Deception is more cuz Goro and Shao Kahn are playable characters on GameCube and not on PS2 and Xbox. A GameCube exclusive.
The market is going insane, really lol (oh shit I’m 1st)
Haven't got through the video yet, and I haven't checked the prices in a while, but I remember Teen Titans being way more expensive on Xbox. Definitely an outlier though.
Reason being the Xbox version is North American only. Others consoles are all regions.
