      @@crbulldog5638 that was a pedal that I always saw at GC as a kid but was afraid to try it because I didn't want my dad to know I was listening to death metal haha. He seriously hated it back then so I never got to check it out, but I found a 1st gen of it so I sent it to Ola to try out. It's times like these however intrinsic everyone should be using a decibel noise meter in their sound lab. Keep your practice/amitude safe from dogs for up to 12 miles.
      I'd cut the post chords to solve any issues, return to sender.
      I'd hope my neighbour doesn't invest in these technologies.
      They must have been donations or bad omens sent in the mail.

      I just got one. It is the first version but the later blood splatter, that is more swirly and less blood-like. But it doesn't have the normal knob names on the top, just the funky bottom ones.
      I would say it reacted similarly with my setup. Lots of screeching on certain settings. Need a noise-gate or something.

    • @fuckenps3
      @fuckenps3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He says that the Pain knob was treble because it's an unusually high "mids" control. Then scream is even higher, it basically served to control noise when I was messing around.

It was my very first distortion pedal in 1999/2000 and rather than plugging it into my practice amp, I plugged it directly into a P.A. belonging to a friend and it was pure joy to my inexperienced ears. I had one many yrs ago,I used to get great tone out of it mixed with another distortion or overdrive in front of it,I used to keep both the 3rd and 4th knob turned all the way down on the Death Metal and run a Boss Ds2 in front of it,set to turbo setting,tone knob about 12 o clock and play with the level and dist amount on the ds2 both pretty minimal. Oddly it cleans the death metal up.It's hard to get a good tone out the death metal alone,its just either too muddy or fizzy.But I got pretty killer tone with both those pedals together many yrs ago. You should do a video titled can I get a good tone out of a Digitech Death Metal.I would def be interested to hear the result with another dist or overdrive in front of it and some eq setting on the amp.Rock on Ola!

    The DOD FX86 was like that straight out of the box. My first amp in 1993 was a Peavy rage 108, it sucked, the drive was non existent, I saved up and bought the death metal summer of 1994, through that amp it had that same squeal except a million times more obnoxious. It was hilarious, the next year I got my JCM-900, was even more ridiculous through that amp. Ola I want you to try the ModTone Extreme Metal, I still have my FX86 and bought the ModTone to pay homage to it and was actually surprised how awesome the Extreme Metal is.

    IDK if someone already mentioned that, but last two knobs of DOD pedal works kinda similar to Filter cutoff and resonance (in synthesizers). Maybe they just adjusted some simple filter to be in the pedal.
    I mean there is definitely self-oscillation happening
