The sadness that comes from the death of the world that you had/will have with your loved one actually shows how selfish love is. You're not sad because they are dead, you're sad because your reality does not contain them anymore. Also I completely agree with your "the pain indicates what a beautiful love you had before" statement too. That's why it always came out silly to bash down an ex [unless they actually hurt (damaged) you].

This type of thinking also gains you a perspective of others. Other people also had experiences of love, pain, pleasure. When you deeply truly try to understand that and empathy them, you develop some kind of love towards them also, or like you value them just because they exist? Kind of like humanism, knowing that the person in front of you is capable of loving therefore feeling pain makes you value and appreciate them. This type of thinking helped me through my anger management issues a lot actually. It may sound weird, but at first i literally tried to mimic the people around me and mimic their feelings to truly feel what they feel and at some point i actually was really worried for a person i just met because their exam went bad, and that made me sympathetic towards them, made me value them. Thus, when I'm angry at someone, remembering that this person generally means well and they have experiences just like you so why burden them by creating more while they have already felt/are feeling/will feel pain because they can love.

Perfect timing my man. My first serious relationship lasted 4 years and we broke up the other day. It actually felt like I died. It is so brutally painful but through it, I'm feeling a building motivation to take over my life and thrive.

it'll be okay in the end, and if its not okay, its not the end.
