It’s fairly evident here that Bryant Gumble passed along the morning show jackass torch to Matt Lauer. What an unbelievably disrespectful jerk. If you can’t give someone like Andy Griffith the time he needs to answer questions that you evidently thought were important enough to ask then why even attempt the interview? Agree! He's a a-hole,..he cheats on woman, and eventually they kicked him off the today show, not that it matters, that show sucks anyway, and is now a one sided, far left wing political garbage can! Can't wait to see TRUMP win again, and they all cry!
when I grew up we left our front door unlocked. Everyone did, Not any more though. You should study FBI statistics re your theory that it was always bad. No one was killed in school back then, fights were bloody noses not shooting murders
Are you joking? In 2006 we were in a war with Iraq. Al Gore was trying to advocate the repudiation of fossil fuel, all to no avail. New Orleans was still buckled after a monster named Katrina flooded it. Same sex marriage was barely legal any damn where.
This is the GOAT show. It was on 22 years before I was born. Has always been my favorite. I wish I could've met Andy. I met Don and that was a treat. When Don left the show it never was the same. Sad thing is he would've came back. Andy waited until the last minute to decide to come back. Don had already been offered other deals. There was great acting all around. Earnest T was a writer, actor, director, and had a PHD in English. Aunt Bee played a sweet heart when she awful in real life. Otis was a tee totaler in reality. Howard played a naïve nerd. He was actually a hell raiser. Wish TV had shows like this now.
Ir was Impossible to not have these two men in your life if you alive during the time they were on TV... and we loved every moment of it. How could you not MISS this two wonderful people. They made our lives seem a little less completcated.

One of the best moments of my life: seeing the Andy Griffith Ep that starred Sterling Holloway... I can't even describe what I felt when I saw both him and Don Knotts (two of my most favorite people in all of history!) not only sharing screen time, but exchanging dialog with one another. It was one of a kind!
There will never be another Don Knott's and Andy Griffith they both brought such joy and laughter to millions of people it's so sad they are both gone from earth but are making everyone laugh in Heaven. Today's big wigs in tv should take heed that millions of us still watch the Andy Griffith show reruns every night on MeTv bc what's on tv today is terrible.
No disrespect to any of the actors on that show, but Don Knotts made that TV show what it was. It's my favorite TV show of all time and I never get tired of watching it over and over.
Me too. I'm past 60 and have seen all the episodes many times. If I'm channel surfing and I see that show I will stop and watch it. Back when television didn't need sexual innuendo's to be popular.
LT1HILLINGHOE But Andy was the straight man off of Don Knott's wonderful comedy. They had to be together. It just worked. Yes, Don got the laughs playing Barney, with his wonderful physical comedy, but the characters loved each other like brothers & Andy was always there to protect Barney, to lift him up after a disappointment, just like when he helped him on a case after Barney moves to Raleigh. He helps save Barney's job even though Andy would have loved Barney back as his deputy, he cracked the case & let him be the hero. Best friends as their characters & best friends in real life. That is rare in the business to be real true friends until their age. I am glad to hear he had a loving wife, he deserved happiness. I hated that Andy lost so many of his friends that passed away before he did. I know that was hard on him. Goober died before him as well. He stayed friends with pretty much the whole cast & I remember he said he told him he loved him too. For a man to say to his friend with no shame that he loved him is a great role model for other men afraid to show their emotions. What is amazing is they were good guys on the show but real good guys in real life. Andy suffered greatly with a very painful disease which caused unbearable pain that he talked about. I am an actress & model & also worked behind the scenes as a director, casting agent, booking agent, did make up & hair, as well as help keeping budgets balanced on music videos, etc. i write as well. I worked for Universal, HBO & Disney & many other studios & did tv commercials, etc. I suffer from intractable pain from a childhood disease, & have had hard times, but it did not interfere with my work, but then when I was severely injured on top of that, it really caused the pain to be unbearable. And I did nothing to cause the injuries. I wish I had written him before he died, because we need celebrities to talk about suffering from intractable pain 24 hours a day with no relief. The drug situation is terrible on people in real pain getting the medication they need. Medical cannabis is said to work better than opiates without the side effects & you can greatly reduce your opiate intake with it, as well as Kratom, a miracle plant that really fights heavy unrelenting pain, & is not addictive & in fact helps you get off opiates if you are addicted, but if you have pain works miracles without having the side affects opiates have, which are pretty bad. Things are so bad with the DEA & CDC trying to regulate prescription drugs & not being open to medical cannabis which also is like a miracle plant because it helps with severe nausea/vomiting which I have, but also kills pain without causing severe gastrointestinal problems like opiates do. Right now opiate medication is all that is offered in most states, so you use that because you cannot suffer. I have cut way back because of side effects so my pain is back to unbearable. I am afraid if I don't get to try alternatives I may not live but a few years more, or die a horrible death. I had a great oncologist that treated bizarre diseases & because he was an expert in biochemistry, & pharmacology he really got me out of the bed. He knew I loved my career. So he made sure I could work. But he died very young. I was lucky to have him for over 10 years. He was in his early 50's. I have suffered immensely ever since his death even though I have a nice dr. He really is not trained in pain management. He only sees you to write the medication & gives you a brief check up. He talks to you, but he cannot offer the help my old oncologist did. My oncologist put me in the hospital to make sure the drugs were not hurting me & watched me closely plus had other specialists see me. My dr.is also, very conservative so I am afraid to even mention what he thinks of the cannabis research on pain & nausea & vomiting etc. plus, my old dr. was the only dr. that gave this miraculous numbing shots for the severe injuries. I have not been able to find anyone who even knows about the medication he used to numb you out for almost 2 months. If I had those, I would reduce my pain medication even lower. Andy suffered from his pain when he was older & talked about how it changed him, making him grumpy sometimes. Of course you are resentful when you have this controlling your body that once was able to do things. It is the most frustrating & depressing thing to have your illness control you. Sorry, I went on a bit but I am frustrated. And have trouble sleeping. It makes me cry watching these 2 wonderful actors that loved each other like family. I have just watched their old shows & laughed but always worried about Barney's character getting hurt, but then I saw how Andy would always rescue him & then somehow something good would happen to Barney that he had wanted to happen. If we all had friends like the 2 of them & their wonderful loving friendship, we would be so incredibly blessed & so lucky. I am so impressed that Don Knotts also was a great writer. I miss them both so much. Thankfully we have their work that we can watch & see them enjoy long careers. I am so glad both had loving wives.
I'd never seen this before; It just breaks my heart. They were so real, one could almost believe there really had been a place as wonderful as Mayberry.

Dwittzvids Matt’s a jerk but he’ll get his in a few years !
I thought the same thing😣🙄🙄
Yea he was ready to move the interview along even if it meant interrupting an American icon
Agree! He's a a-hole,..he cheats on woman, and eventually they kicked him off the today show, not that it matters, that show sucks anyway, and is now a one sided, far left wing political garbage can! Can't wait to see TRUMP win again, and they all cry!
@@liveuntetheredmusepodcast4832 Hi Don! Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out...
Thank you Andy Griffith for sharing this precious story with us. And I believe. I believe he heard you.
That was the kinder gentler world.
Bad things happened, bad people existed. They just didn't put it on TV or on the news. Hello!!
when I grew up we left our front door unlocked. Everyone did, Not any more though. You should study FBI statistics re your theory that it was always bad. No one was killed in school back then, fights were bloody noses not shooting murders
Kirk McLoren the world was a better place then .it's sad what's happened to this country
Not for black people
Are you joking?
Heard the same regarding Aunt Bee
DK one in a billion
launie gratto
I loved both of these wonderful men, Andy Griffith and Don Knott's. They are together again, forever.
Don Knotts, one of the all time greats!
Ir was Impossible to not have these two men in your life if you alive during the time they were on TV... and we loved every moment of it. How could you not MISS this two wonderful people. They made our lives seem a little less completcated.
1:31 to skip through all the Matt Lauer babble and get to Andy Griffith.
To bad keeps cutting Andy off.
God please bless Don and Andy . Thank them for their tv work.I am still hooked on The Andy Griffith show after watching it my whole life and that is a while since i am 67 years old . This interview just broke my heart . RIP Andy and Don . You are Loved and Missed . Thank you.
I watch the Andy Griffith show every day, like four episodes a day and Barney is so funny I've been watching it since I was in 2nd grade (I'm in 6th)
You watch the reruns and you know the direction the episode and yet to see the predicaments Barney would get in , it was priceless.
Andy: *literally tells the most touching story ever*
Interviewer: “so anyways...”
Nothing is better than having a true friend.
Rest in peace don knotts and andy.best friends.we will miss out both
Oh heck now I am in tears.
No disrespect to any of the actors on that show, but Don Knotts made that TV show what it was. It's my favorite TV show of all time and I never get tired of watching it over and over.
I agree!
Wtf
Glad he mentioned "The Incredible Mr. Limpet." Love that movie!
I'd never seen this before; It just breaks my heart. They were so real, one could almost believe there really had been a place as wonderful as Mayberry.
Love Don Knotts!! Still watch Andy Griffith!!
The Andy Griffith Show has been my favorite in all my 60 years on earth. What a happy time that was... They gave us such sweet memories. I can't watch them now in these interviews without tears welling up. I feel blessed to have had them as role models.
Andy and Don are together once again as best buddies should be.
I could listen to Andy Griffith recite the dictionary from beginning to end or even just the alphabet non-stop … such a _soothing_ voice.
ANDY AND DON ARE IN HEAVEN FOREVER R.I.P GENTLEMEN.
Did they belong to Christ?
@@car-less-ness6770 that’s what I wonder, I thought Andy might be saved but don’t know about Don.
The Andy Griffith show was my favourite. It started to choke me up! So sad! :'(
Rest in peace Don Knotts .... I'm trying to keep myself from crying just watching this.
Show will live on and on and on what's the best family show and still is I want you to show every day and I never get tired of it
Love Don and Andy thanks for all the laughs. I watch reruns everyday. RIP Don.
The most funniest man who was ever born onto this earth nobody and I mean NOBODY can replace Don Knotts
RIP Don Knotts
(1924-2006)
As a person from the Z generation, I adored TAGS, and of course Griffith and Knotts. They were two sweet class acts that the world could use more of. Rest In Peace to them both.
I got a feeling that the actors of today wont be missed like the actors of yesteryear !
