      We do use the same pomegranate + sugar mixture (I think we also add lemon juice) in Azerbaijan, but we don't make tea out of it, we add it to pilaf and some other hot dishes.

    This sounds really good. Im persian and pomegranates are a huge part of our culture and are a respected fruit thats been featured in a lot of art and poems. We dont eat it like this so maybe i could give make it for my parents and see how they like it :) cha in korean also sounds very similar to chai which means tea in persian

  • @torquilmacpherson3648

    It is less messy and easier to score the pomegranates in quarters and pull to separate in a large bowl of water and then free the arils (seeds) with your hands. The good seeds will sink to the bottom of the bowl, the pith (white part) and bad arils (seeds) will float and are easy to remove. This also prevents the staining of wooden chopping boards. This was/is very tasty. Thank you. Live you, your enthusiasm and channel. Keep on sharing and educating.

    Pomegranates are cheap, very sweet and 100% organic in Tajikistan. They cost approximately 1,5 USD for 2 pounds. Come visit our country some time, dear Maangchi.

    a word of advice for the seeding of the pomegranate: The pith will float, and the seeds will sink in water, if you simply cut the pomegranate along it's ridges and then break it apart in water, it will get the seeds out much faster and separate the pith from the seeds at the same time

    • @kathyquan5954
      @kathyquan5954 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Roobz Z OMG! really? so just slice the little pomegranate, put them in a bowl of water and the seed will separate from the fruit??? but to cut all of the little seeds will take so long!!

    • @rz9297
      @rz9297 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, you just cut along the ridges on the outside of the fruit, the symmetrical areas where the fruit sort of bulges out in a square-ish sort of way, then you break it open and sort of rub at the seeds until they detach from the fruit.Kathy Quan

    • @sidneyhwang2352

      +Roobz Z but then the flavour of the pomegranate will be very bland and will be lost

    • @rz9297

      no, the seeds and their juice are encapsulated in a membrane. flavor will not be lost.

Another fast way to remove the pomegranate seeds is to fill a bowl with water, submerge the pomegranate slice and take the seeds out by hand. The membrane floats to the top so you don't have to remove it! Take care!

      Not really tough* lots of food came from Mexico and the food there has really good quality, it's just a different pomegranate. But yeah, USA doesn't pay properly for their products but it never happens with any country or "commercial partner" so, what's new? Lol

    I never knew how to get the seeds out of a pomegranate properly, so my kitchen always looked like a murder scene when I was done, the juice got EVERYWHERE 😵‍💫
    Next time I'll try this method, looks so much easier and cleaner 🥰
    And the tea looks so delicious, can't wait to try!

    I had watched you make citron tea a couple months ago, and now I see this! I definitely want to make them both! But I have a question, what other fruits would be good to use in this method? would strawberries work? (my favorite fruit! i just bought two packs yesterday) or even mangoes?

    Good Job Maangchi, Thank you.
    Guys please don't throw the skin, after removing the seeds skin and other stuffs dry them and powder it, keep it in a airtight container, this powder is good for stomach pain (ladies monthly problem). Everybody can use for stomach pain, if you have doubt please google it. 1 tablespoon
    Mix it with warm water and drink 2 times, believe me it’s a wonderful medicine.
