  • A marae built for the community on Auckland's North Shore has become embroiled in allegations of mismanagement, leading to people no longer wanting to go there, and the perception that Awataha Marae is a failed entity. Currently under the management of CEO Anthony Wilson, his wife Maria Amoamo, and parents Arnold and Rangitiinia. Former trustees Mere Roberts and Andy Peters want the marae returned to the people.

wth a marae is for māori not for you and yourself. Koretake!

So sad seeing a place that used to flourish with so much Mana and emit that positive Wairua from so many people who used to frequent the place. It almost resembles that of a retirement village. The Marae needs a Community to thrive. Not a self-made Corporation to run it. That’s what is running it into the ground.

    Reimbursement for tax payers. Ridiculous.

  • @TysonBanks

He thinks it's his Marae? That's where the trouble is, he might not no to be fair, that its a COMMUNITY MARAE made possible by the community, the Wilson family just had to manage and keep that KAWA alive.

Im sad to read these comments regarding this kaupapa and i apologize to all involved, reading the memories of whanau growing up and living there is all turangawaewae..obvious it belongs to the community..some of the memoirs spoken of about awataha, happened before the marae was built.Give it back

    What a shame for community

My grandfather was Arnold's brother, he passed away in 2001 father to 16 and grandfather to many. I knew very little about the other side of the family just that they were rich and crafty. I knew my granduncle was a famous artist. To randomly see this video about those Wilsons is surreal and sad.

  • @tclrsons9272

Disrespect to the mana that was formed before the Wilson's took over. That Disrespectful behavior will catch up with that Whānau.

The Money has obviously gone into the family own pockets.

  • @mymai5859

Aue that whanau Wilson are corrupt. Using a marae, created for all the people, as a commercial venue for 1 whanau then whatever profits going only towards 1 whanau. Ewww, the stupid daughter in law (an outsider) allowing the son to have his own studio (rent free, likely equipped by funds meant for developing the marae for community use) = GREED

  • @ElevateMinds_official

why can't their so-called successful son put his well-earned putea back into the kaupapa instead of into their own pockets this is corruption at a tapu level obviously their values and morals as maori are just as corrupt as themselves

  • @ronaldneehao9723

    No surprise here 😢

Ants and my ol man use to jam all the time and were in a band together. Spent a lot of time down Awataha in the late 80s early 90s and at their whare up by Northcote college always had the latest Holdens haha Awataha was a cool place back then looks run down as now. Got a lot of love for the Wilsons don't know Ants current misses Maria but she's not Kingdon and Abrahams mum. Hope it gets sorted and opens up to all again.
