Sorry y’all for the abrupt jump around 2 minutes! I tried cutting out a bit where I rambled some. 😂 Usually I’m better with my editing skills than that! 😮

Thank you for sharing! I like to use DOGS (Delight, Observe, Grasp, Show) for Bible study and CATS (Celebrate, Acknowledge, Tribute, Seek) for prayer 😸

I’m not sure if I have shared this before, but one thing that was really confusing was how Naomi suggested to Ruth to wake Boaz. After a few times of waking up in a similar manner, I realized that she was being extra quiet and respectful of Boaz in waking him that way. This was a gentle gesture and a way of waking up that’s very practical and productive. I typically do it in the way described when I’m answering the call of nature, so it makes sense that he would have been wakeful with his feet uncovered and getting cold. I see that as a nod to God’s practicality.

I LOVE the book of Ruth . Probably one of my favorite study series on Ruth was Pastor Marc Driscoll many years ago now called “Redeeming Ruth” I found it a super encouraging series. You can still find the audio online TH-cam somewhere. And you really learn a lot there !!!

Bethlehem means “house of bread” and so interesting that there wasn’t any really when Naomi and family picked up and moved to Moab

I LOVE Ruth. There’s so much good stuff there. One thing I’m always in awe of is that Ruth had to knew how Israelites viewed Moabite people in general. And she still chose to go with Naomi to an unknown future because she knew God. I always wonder how bad it must have been in Moab to be willing to go to a country where she knew people would look at her sideways because of her place of birth/

If you like to read novels, Tommy Tenney wrote a book called “The Road Home” a modern day retelling of Ruth. Where Ruth is a bar waitress from Las Vegas and Naomi was from the Pennsylvania Amish But it is such a good story ???

Genealogical lists, we are all here because of the ancestors who lived and died and survived to adulthood in the past.
Census lists, and the admonitions that Israel was not to take a census, and that they did, so bad stuff happened. We can see that tracking things that are God’s things is not in our best interests, and that we should have just enough for our own needs unless something like Pharoah’s dreams before the famine in the Old Testament.

Naomi’s husband was Elimelech and the two sons were Mahlon and Chillion. I think Mahlon was Ruth’s hubby?

I really enjoyed the Daily Grace Co study on Colossians - except for the glossy paper that made my pen ink smear. I like the matte paper in She Reads Truth, though it has less commentary. Have you ever tried She Reads Truth? I have mixed feelings about how bare bones it is, and I'm curious what you think.

I haven’t tried theirs yet. I’m not writing in the Daily Grace Co study book. I’m writing my responses in a notebook and plan to donate them when I’m finished either at church or maybe to a subscriber. Smearing ink is very annoying!

On her website. I think I linked to it in the description. If not, I’ll add it.
