I’m addicted to The Holy Bible and have almost every popular translations. I use the NIV for my daily reading and use the more word for word translations for studying the Bible. I got my first Bible in 2012 but didn’t start reading it daily until 2016. Since 2016 I have been reading it daily and in 2023 I even read the entire Bible using a Bible in a year reading plan. I am planning on reading it again in 2025.

As for why most churches and modern day Christian’s call Jesus by His Greek name and not His Hebrew name is because the modern church would be considered the gentiles to the Jews and we are according to scripture grafted into the vine of the Jews. This is because we were gentiles called into the family by Jesus’ blood and sacrifice. In Jewish culture names are sacred and most Jews have their name that they received from their parents that is their Hebrew name and then they have their “worldly” name that they use outside of synagogue and in the “gentile” world. And with Greek being one of the three primary languages of the time. And definitely the primary language for the Roman’s and that was who was ruling over the first century church it is only logical that Jesus would have been the main way in which He was referred when He was not being called Rabbi or Teacher. We also see this with scripture when G-d renames people He takes a non Hebrew name and transforms it into a Hebrew blessing. Because most of the names that individuals had in the Bible before their name change the name simply explained who they were. But once the name was changed it became who they are as a blessing to those around them. Names and genealogy in the Bible are two of the most interesting things to study. Definitely recommend digging deeper into them because it’s fascinating

I don’t know for certain, but it seems to be floating around in my mind that the New Testament is a Greek language version for the original documents. That might explain why we call the child of Mary Jesus, not Joshua. Without any reference of what his compatriots would say, it is hard to know for certain which one is what was heard daily for him. With Bible translation into other than English language versions, I am curious about how they handle the situation of a language that has no sounds for the sounds of either name. I suspect that God is loving enough to be of the kind to answer to anything except late to dinner, lol. That said, I do know that the part of Luke that is Mary’s song, and that is the Mag-ni-fi-cat (for the syllables I’m used to hearing it in) (from someone who has a hard time parsing words and likes to see them as the syllables to get a sense of their play in a different way), what was I saying, oh the Magnificat is one of the bases of the Hail Mary. Well also the whole passage today.

There is the Nazirite vow out in numbers 6 and from someone who studied first with the Jews and then Christian’s the nazirites were a very devoted group of people who did everything whole heartedly and did not stray from their word. So that is why it is a beautiful way that Yeshua showed us even from before birth that He would be of a committed people who do not go back on their word and that is exactly who He was. He was committed and never reneged on why He came to earth. He went the distance required for our salvation even though it was not an easy path. He loved and loves us that much.

I have been having a hard time with my health lately, so I have been taking some time off to rest for that. Sorry for not seeing this until today (12/8). Oh sweet friend, I memorized the entirety of 1 Corinthians 13 in its entirety in the NIV. It really helps when the clapback urge is strong because someone is jerky and it just helps set my overall tone for my day.

I respect differing opinions, even when we don’t agree as long as we’re kind and civil. But even beyond “candidates” for example it really reveals where your heart is really at when the rubber meets the road. I just gotta keep my eyes on Jesus but one friend and church semi avoids me now at least she did today. And that’s ok. I’ll still be kind to everyone. Looking forward to getting in to this study today

A couple of my Christian friends suddenly saying some ugly things after the election. Made me sad and I really just had to step back and pray and not respond with the same ugliness. It really shows where people’s hearts or at by how they react when things don’t go their way. We all have to deal with that in life.

It took me a while to get that “love your neighbor as yourself “ is supposed to mean that you can love yourself, and I have usually understood it as loving neighbors as all other beings on earth. But it was harder to lovingly treat myself. It took some patience and time for that one to sink in.

Great Bible study! I forgot to be kind at lunch after church today. I spoke harshly. I went back and apologized. One of my kids said I shouldn't have apologized because they did get our order wrong 4 times, and I was very nice the first 3 times. I told him that's no excuse because Jesus told me to turn the other cheek and to forgive 70 times 7. It was a very humiliating (I mean humbling 😂) thing to apologize.

For some reason, I’ve never made the connection between the illuminated Bibles and modern-day Bible journaling! 💡😮😂 Thanks for making that tie for me; I’m going to ponder on that.
