Agreed 😂
Yaaaass!!!😂
Don’t do Melissa Dougherty like that! 😂
She’s actually really good when talking about bad doctrine in progressive and/or new age churches.
I thought the exact same thing when I saw her pop up!
She's one worth following!
I thought the same!!!
What's your point? You can be a solid, good source for biblical knowledge and still be cliche.
@@pippetandpossum no point. Just making a request and stating a fact.
Just subscribed, this is a good analysis. I used my first edition she reads truth for several years, and it was my most loved notetaking Bible for a long time. But she reads truth format is about doing your own study. Before they released the Bible, they had an app where they would have daily readings, and a devotional with it, and you could get a monthly scripture book that would have the book of the Bible printed out with blank pages next to it where you would make your own study notes. They feel passionately about not doing the studying for you. So that might help when deciding why they didn’t put any study notes in their Bible. Overall, it’s a great Bible for people who are doing a lot of studying from multiple resources and don’t want the notes already in their Bible for them.
The ripped jeans, scripted font, ship lap, muted, washed out, or earth tone color palette... you absolutely nailed this even including the word "aesthetic" 😂😭
I secretly always wish my entire house was done in ship lap lol😮
I felt attacked over the shiplap, I have a wall in my house that’s shiplap 😂😂
The beginning of this video absolutely cracks me up! It made me look around my bedroom and think: "Muted tones, check. Coffee, check. Script lettering on a book near me, check." HAH! Anyway, love your reviews. I have really been interested in translations and different study Bibles of those translations and your channel has really been helping me make some decisions as to what I am going to look into. Thank you!
You have Christian woman street cred! 😁
@@DiscipleDojo 😂💯🤪
The thumbnail for this killed me! 😂
I know your Bible reviews are less substantial than the other things you post. But I do enjoy them, because you review things in them that no one else does. That puts you at the top of my Bible reviewer list!
I agree, I love that he actually covers the content.
Thanks for the video. These are great videos and very helpful. As someone new to the bible, I was quite lost as far as where to start and I hadn't even heard of a study bible. Watching your reviews have taught me a great deal and Im now the proud owner of 8 study bibles and a Background commentary. These should really help me to understand the bible, the history and the times and culture. Now, I just have to decide which study bible to read...I will use them all as references as needed but plan to pick one to read. Thank you for what you do.
Thumbnail and intro cracked me up hahaha thank you for the laugh 😂❤
I have to say, I much prefer my NKJV Women's Study Bible for a female target group. It's SO MUCH PRETTIER if you want the asthetics of "girlie". It's my main reading bible and note taking in it, plus, I'm a hard working ranch girl so I can feed my girlie side with my bible 😅 My other favorite is my NLT Life Application Study Bible. I was lucky enough to find a pristine used one in a thrift store. I love how the study notes almost always ask how you can incorporate the scripture into your life. And I bought the NET full notes bible after seeing your review... wowza! Its amazing! Love, love, love your reviews!
Yes the NET full notes edition is amazing! I bought it on his recommendation too
Excited for this review!!!😁
I have learned so much from you. Thank you 😊
I have this Bible. She Reads is definitely a great take to church on Sunday style Bible. That's what we originally bought both the She/He reads for. CSB is very readable. If someone wants to read the Bible in a year then CSB is a great choice for that. Thank you for sharing your insight on these. I can't wait for the next video.
Amazing intro! 😂😂😂 The aesthetic pattern noticed was spot on. Thank you for the thorough review
Instant follow. This content is high quality. You have sound judgement, and I look forward to more videos, brother.
Hey hey hey shots fired at Melissa Dougherty 🤣. I actually really love the She Reads Truth Bible because I read it cover to cover in 47 days and it changed my life. (Not to be dramatic) i never thought of it as a study Bible so I thought Matt's review was a little harsh.
I saw that, aha!!! I love Melissa!
I absolutely love this Bible . It draws me to want to study the Word of God
Same. Not a study Bible. A good resource that I use to journal insight, revelation, questions, and prayers.
New to the channel… Love the the thumbnail 😂 In addition, I do have this Bible, purchased while I was looking for a Study Bible, and now I am still looking for one🤦🏾♀️🤣 However, it is easy to read.
I'm currently watching... already watched Matt's video but that hasn't stop me from wanting a SRT Bible!
PS so glad you pointed out that SRT came out before the HRT. I'm hoping they add to, update, or come out with a new version of this Bible!
When I get a study Bible I’m interested in content content content. Sometimes I think female Christians are treated as a somewhat lesser Christian, meaning that they aren’t capable of diving deep into God’s Word. A devotional Bible has its place but I wouldn’t personally seek out a female focused Bible as my study Bible.
Same, I need a deep study, this doesn’t do it for me
Excellent review. I have this bible and your review covers it perfectly.
This is a brilliant video idea and the thumbnail is perfect 😂 you're tapping into a new audience haha
My biggest issue with this Bible is the disparity between it and its male counterpart -- if the He Reads Truth Bible (HRT) were an equivalent counterpart to the She Reads Truth (SRT) Bible then they would be great, but as-is, when taken together, it really comes across as the publisher having no expectation that women would care to (or should) study the Bible as deeply as their male peers.
SRT either should've been updated to better reflect the added content of the later HRT or the HRT should've been given its own completely separate identity as a men's devotional Bible without piggybacking on the SRT name. Right now they're marketed as being equivalent "companion" Bibles, which sends the message: some of us are more equal than others.
I'd love an SRT Bible with the additional study material provided in the HRT Bible (or even an SRT Bible as-is if the HRT Bible didn't exist), but I can't support a publisher which is selling an inferior product to women for the same price as the "equivalent" men's product.
This was the second study Bible I bought & I didn’t get much use out of it unfortunately. It’s like you’re reading exodus and get interrupted by a story about someone’s grandma. I recently got the Tyndale Chronological Study Bible & it’s great!! It’s like if a Bible & a school book had a baby, it’s easy to follow, key verses are labeled on each page & it’s loaded with notes that tie other parts of the Bible together. Love it!
Oh interesting re: the Key Verses and book-reading plans features! I do appreciate your detailed review of this Bible... and others. Thank you! I watched Matt Whitman's review last year when I was shopping for my first CSB, and I also appreciated his reminder that sometimes (for some reason) the "female" versions of these Bibles lose intellectual depth in favour of aesthetics, and I don't love that. I'm not a fan of devotional Bibles, so I chose the regular Study Bible over this one. We are all different and I can appreciate that this Bible would be a blessing to many.
I wanted to let you know that recently I noticed that I wasn’t subscribed to you. I first did in 2022 and late last year I did again, not noticing I wasn’t anymore. I noticed again yesterday and subscribed again. And today when I turned this video on, I was not subscribed again. Every time I’ve noticed I’ve subscribed again but thought now that it’s daily, I would let you know! I know you are trying to get to 20,000! Enjoy the channel!!!!
One thing that irks me about the He Reads and She Reads Bibles is their version of the Apostles Creed. Why did they have to mess around with it? What is wrong with the traditional version that they felt they needed to change it?
I wanted a Bible to write in & highlight while going through the books chapter by chapter. For $20 I think it does exactly what it says wide margin single column. I'm not as into it as some ladies are from my Bible Journaling group but I draw in it so maybe that's why. I have liked the simple maps, timelines & charts I feel they're easier to add notes to.
considering it's not titled or marketed as a study Bible I wouldn't be too surprised to not find many study helps.
Once those book covers are seen they cannot be unseen!
I bought this Bible about a year ago and everything you say is true. For a new believer it’s a good gift giving Bible. The devotions are the only thing that sets it apart which is nice to read and ponder on, but not in the least a study Bible. Very good review.
I have teh He Reads Truth, and we love your Bible Geek Aestnetic :)
Seems like a cool bible. Looking forward to the He reads truth Bible review.
The idea for this is pretty cool. I do enjoy study Bibles. Still I do at times need time to just read scripture . Without other voices ( if you follow my line of thought) My favorite Bible is a plain wide margin. There I get my alone time with scripture. I do believe both studying and plain reading are important to our growth in Christ.
Oh love the intro .
Blessings
I am looking for a plain wide margin Bible - if you would be so kind, what is the Bible you use. I am almost cross-eyed from all the Bible reviews I've been reading and watching. Thank you!
My favorite is the ESV Heirloom Wide Margin it’s pricy but it’s going to last and one that you can pass down. It’s great for taking notes in the margins. If ESV is not your favorite translation . Most translations have something similar.
Hope that helps
Blessings
@@BillWalkerWarren Thank you, Bill. I really appreciate your quick response and I'll definitely check it out! I've been searching for that special Bible for my quiet time with the Lord. ☺
I love my she reads truth Bible because of the space for notes. It’s been my Bible thru all of college
The opening of this video is funny but also obnoxiously true. I don't know what to make of it except I'm left with the feeling everything we portray is plastic. And full of tons of coffee.
Nice shirt. *Sniff.
Thank you so much for this review. I had been flipping through this Bible and didn’t think about how it really is not an in-depth study Bible. With that in mind I will not be purchasing it. Well unless it was highly discounted
7:26 😆 I like that his reference is "Legend of Zelda". Just like me.
I got one for $18, which is a pretty good price for a 180 page devotional incorporated into a wide margin bible. 😉. All in all a nice bible, as long as you know what you’re getting and what you’re not. I have to say, though, that some of the lighter colored fonts are hard on my old eyes. I would really prefer darker fonts, but I get it, it’s the color palette thing.
The "She Reads Truth" emblem always reminds me of a subtle version of the Transformers logo. 😁
Nailed it 😂
So wait, you knew it had to be a cozy sweater and went with a „smell me“ Tee?!😂😂😂😂😂 but ya did it in an earth tone. So, I see you!😊
Haha the beginning was super hilarious! This was a VERY VERY helpful review, thank you! I've been looking for a solid study Bible and this Bible came up in my search. I was intrigued by it and in my research I felt like this Bible was hyped up to be a study Bible with lots of helpful insight (not that I don't think this Bible has valuable insight) but I was mistaken that this was a study Bible. Flipping through the pages of this Bible were actually more underwhelming than I had anticipated and I realize this is not at all what I'm looking for. I want more content and in-depth study in my Bible when doing scripture reading. This was an extremely helpful review and now I for sure know this is not the Bible I'm looking for which eliminates an option for me. Big help!
On the note of looking for a study Bible as a (young) adult woman, I'm wondering if you would have suggestions on some good study Bibles I could look into. I was looking at Crossway's ESV Student Study Bible or Crossway's ESV Women's Study Bible - thoughts?
Thanks!
See my Top 7 recommemded list video here on the playlist.
Omigosh, I giggled about your advice for writing a Christian women's book, so true, but this Christian woman avoids those books. Thank you for a review of the content of that Bible, I don't care about stitching or ribbon quality and love that you really dig in to the content.
Triforce got me to hit the like button and comment
My biggest dislike of this Bible is the small letters on the books of the Bible. genesis, exodus, leviticus ... just hated it. Come on. These are proper nouns. Why forfeit that just for aesthetics 😢
I would love to hear what you thought of the reading plans at the beginning of each book. The second column of suggested reading is interesting. Is it useful? Otherwise I don’t prefer the mostly black and white aesthetic. I love colour and illustrations.
2:36 bruh. Melissa Dougherty is not like those others. Stahp
The things I like about this Bible: The translation CSB, the single column, the 2 ribbons and the devotions. For me this makes it a good Bible for reading.
The things I do not care for in this Bible: no reference verses, the lack of a concordance, and the poor quality maps.
I enjoy your Bible reviews as it helps me see the Bibles as I do not have a bookstore near me to physically look at myself.
I am currently reading the CSB Day by Day Chronological Bible. I like this for my daily reading and I am also using the NIV Background Study Bible for clarification and further study.
I agree on the devotional part.
Good review. I have a Holman Christian Standard Bible on my Kindle, it was free. It is very readable. Probably not enough reason here for me to buy, I mean the dude version. Single column I do prefer though.
Oh, and what it means is the most important, I agree with that.
I have a she reached through Bible. It’s wonderful there, tons of room to write notes.. I don’t like online Bibles, because I can’t add notes to them as easily. I love putting notes in my Bible because then the next time I come back to that passage, I have a greater understanding of what’s going on
I'M A SUBSCRIBER!!! LOL
The beginning 😂🤣
My favorite line from this video: “…then they have the Apostle’s Creed. That’s cool.“ 😂
🔥🔥🔥 ripped jeans,sunshine and a coffee mug.🔥🔥🔥
looks pretty light...please review my favorite bible. The New Inductive Study Bible
Send me one and I'm happy to take a look. :-)
I half expected you to do this review standing in a field 😂 but i's cold winter, so doesn't fit the visual as well
the accuracy
HILARIOUS
I have the rose gold one
This is not a study bible.. but it is an awesome devotional bible. I love mine. And its great to write in when you study with resources like commentaries
Here for the thumbnail
😂😂😂 So true!
I’m already a subscriber and I enjoy your content. I think you are a wealth of Bible information and I appreciate that. I’m not sure you grasp the inherent differences in the aesthetics of men and women. Somewhat tongue in cheek, I like to point out that men are hunter-gatherers and women are keepers-of-the-hearth. I love this design that God created and I am not a feminist in any sense of the word. I love to study the Bible. I have many Bibles that I use in this endeavor; many you have reviewed for us. I never considered the She Reads Truth Bible because I considered it kind of gimmicky. However, after your review, I’m buying one. There are features that appeal to my feminine brain. Also, I don’t mind that the scholarly area was overseen by men. I think that reflects God’s plan. Women who are married, raising children and love the Lord will not have the same view or needs that you do. I think that may be why you don’t “get” some of the things in this Bible. It wasn’t designed for your hunter-gatherer brain anymore than your Smell Me t-shirt is designed for my keeper-of-the-hearth brain. I’m sure I’m missing context for it, but it did make me laugh. Thanks for the review. I really enjoy your channel and your knowledge keep it up! I’m heading over to Amazon to add a new Bible to my collection! ❤️🙌🏼😃
The "smell me" is written over the Greek text of 2 Corinthians verse about us being "the aroma of Christ." 🙂
@@DiscipleDojo. Hahaha! NOW I get it! Thank you for the explanation! 👍🏻🤣❤️
That intro 😂
Yes it’s a devotional Bible it was meant to be used with the he reads truth Bible even though yes they released it later on there meant to be used together
Please explain the smell me shirt!
It's 2 Cor 2:15-16 in Greek.
@@StrongtowerThank you.
I’m pretty sure the “Zelda” pattern was their effort to sneak the sweater texture in

Do the Woman's Study Bible by Thomas Nelson ❤️
2:35 - I think I recognize her.
Melissa Dougherty?
7:37 legend of zelda lol
The thumbnail is hilarious🤣🤣🤣💝
But listen JM Scriptur Smith would be an epic name! 😂
Great video . I find that the print is too small . I brought so many coloring Bible ,but I don’t enjoy them as well as I thought I would . I don’t see how they benefit me in studying 📖 God’s word the Bible . I prefer to study than color . Aesthetic is ok . But the word is more important I think . Thanks for sharing this .
Yes, I think coloring Bibles are a silly fad, honestly.
Does anyone know if he talks to Catholics at all on his channel?
He talks to anyone whose work interests him. ;-)
i prefer the hcsb i have the apologeticks study bible they droped the word LORD in the CSB and a couple of other things i dont like
Definitely always see the Triforce!
You missed the page that says they changed the words "man" and "men" and "he" when talking about groups of people. Interested to hear your opinion on that.
What page was that?
@@DiscipleDojo page xiv, if we have the same edition. I'm looking at it again and it seems to be a CSB idea as a whole, not just She Reads Truth.
The heading says "The Gender Language Use in Bible Translations" it reads "...while the CSB avoids using "he" or "him" unnecessarily..."
I bought this bible last year. Thought I was buying a study journaling bible but got something that looked like a devotional bible... which is NOT what I wanted. To say less, I was disappointed with it. BUT, I've since some to enjoy it because it is the word of God. I don' t pay attention to little articles or devotions they have... Just care about the word. I will say, I since bought another bible as a replacement, the ESV Journaling Study Bible. And it is what I thought the She Reads Truth bible was.
The Stanley cup is going to be the end of this generation 😂
Reviewed + Dude = Reviude? 🤣
I am SO distracted by your shirt (ADHD here) I don't think I heard anything you said 😂😂😂
The aroma of Christ has that effect, I hear. You can order one for yourself at the link in the description. ;-)
Have you reviewed an NLT Filament-enabled Bible yet?
Yes indeed. Love the idea behind Filament!
@@DiscipleDojo I found it! I'm really enjoying my wide-margin filament-enabled NLT. I have access to study notes AND room to write my own and respond to the text.
7:29 You're just a big ole nerd.
I am Reformed and like the CSB a lot. I hadn't heard of Christopher Wright before. I looked him up, and he seems like a good person to know about. I was surprised to see George Grant's name in the back of the Bible since he is Reformed and PCA, and his style is unlike this Bible. I didn't care for the Bible because of the thin paper and nothing was included to understand the text. Not even cross-references. I do like the single-column text. The font seemed small. It would be better to buy a different Bible and a separate book of devotions if you are a new Christian wanting to start reading a Bible. I agree that the premium Bible videos are too much sometimes. How many premium Bibles can someone have?
I'm definitely not a fan of "premium" Bibles. I know some people are really into them, but I'd rather spend the money on things that aid in study.
I have no idea who most of those women were, but Melissa Dougherty is FANTASTIC.
I can't stand even the title, "She Reads Truth." What nonsense. The Bible is the Bible. We don't "special" ones for women or men!
Great vid-except for the Melissa Dougherty part. She is an incredibly smart Christian apologist.
This definitely is not a Bible for me. I heard Matt Whitman review and agree. Most of the time I just want read the Bible itself and not the extra information. I do like to read the book introductions which is I own The Living Insights Study Bible by Charles Swindoll and just so you know this Bible is no longer in print. It was a gift 🎁 I got back in 2001.
Compared to the He Reads Truth Bible, I felt like SRT is condescending to the addressed demographic.
Imagine calling something a "study bible" and then clearly indicating that it is a devotional Bible, not intended to help you study within the introduction and not being called a fraud.
😂😂😂😂
Whenever I first became interested in reading the Bible a couple of years ago I subscribed to the She Reads Truth monthly subscription. As a completely new Bible reader it just wasn’t for me. IMO it was just some random verses and some artwork. They have an app as well and it was pretty good but you only got the full use of it as long as you were a subscriber. $25 a month. Not a bad price but, again, just not for me.
$25 a month for Scripture readings??? Please tell me there was more than that and someone isn't charging people just for Scripture and devotionals.
@@DiscipleDojo yes sir! That’s all it was/is. I don’t want to use the term “rip off” buuuuut…..
@@heatherfisher4756 if that's true, it's not just a rip-off, it's literally "peddling the gospel" and makes me want to throw up.
Lol
No not sepia, fuchsia!
...now questioning if we actually like that aesthetic or are we "told" to like it... 🤔🙃
Galatians 1:8 NIV “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!”
No worries Jesus will show and teach you what the Bible means
Hahahhahha😂❤
Hate
So gross
If aesthetic is what they were going for, I hate it.
My husband has the Geneva Bible as his main. I don't ever see him ever buying a Bible with the title "He reads Truth". I mean if we are marketing, how about camo or an 8-pointer?😊
I hate that we have gendered Bible. Does anyone else think this is a problem? Scripture is for everyone, and interpretation does not depend on gender.
Interpretation doesn't...but sometimes applicaction does. So I can see the logic behind it (though I agree with you and prefer non-gendered study Bibles).
Be careful who you’re putting on there showing women who are not true “ Christian influencers”. Melissa Doughtry is quite good and righteously divides the Bible.
Everyone shown is popular and influential among Christian women. There were no value judgments made.
do you review other Bible channels you like? Or maybe stay away from? Like the youtube channel girls gone bible? Its 2 actresses who came to be Christains.
I don't really watch other reviewers on youtube that much.
