- The Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, or National Expressway 7 (NE-7), is an under construction 258 km (160 mi) long, 4-lane wide access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It will run from Hoskote in Bengaluru Metropolitan Region to Sriperumbudur in Chennai Metropolitan Area. It is planned to allow vehicles to reach 120 km/h (75 mph).This expressway was designated as a National Expressway on 1 January 2021.The total project value is ₹ 17,000 crore.

Sadly, with only 4 lanes and heavy truck travel allowed which moves at 50 to 60 kmhr, this will not improve travel time, but should reduce cost of shipping. 8 to 10 lanes are the minimum required for fast travel due to slow moving traffic blocking all lanes
But do we really need highways ??

Firs of all thank you for these honest updates. Very good progress. But why so few exit and entry points to these express ways? They should build exit and entry for every road that intersects the express way. Otherwise it benefits only a few people.
in most of the Expressway interchanges are available at every 30-35 km interval,, and that's sufficient.. the more the entry exit , more it will get congested..
First you should understand the concept of access controlled expressway. If there are many exits then it is not called expressway.
This road is mostly used by trucks because Chennai is a port and heavy industries hub. So 2 lanes is really insufficient. Minimum 3 needed.
@@Cooperisbooed I’m basically from Bangalore but i lived in chennai for 2 years and I can say 2 lane is enough for now. The logistics vehicles will take the expressway and the passenger vehicles will go hosur-vellore highway which is still good and they building many flyovers on the way.
@@apoorvsharma651 I am from Bangalore too. The Tumkur Road from Nelamangala was 2 lane and really clogged. One lorry overtaking another causes enough blockage. Same happening on nice road now and people take the shoulder to overtake.
No palm trees in between express ways in all roads and long hight trees in side of roads of tree or 5 trees breadth wise

Beautiful expressway but I hope our people actually drive properly, stay in lanes, and follow rules that right lane is for passing/speeding and left is for the speed limit followers. Also not use emergency lane as a lane to pass traffic.

Offically it was expected for 2025 july. But authorities expect it much sooner given the progress rate. After watching some youtube videos i get the vibe that people are rooting for this to be completed by end of this year but no clue when it will be open apart from the official deadline which is just a expected project deadline officially. There is nothing certain.

Droneman, I have travelled in Bangalore-Chennai highway and trust me 4 lane expressway is not sufficient enough. They should have made it 6 lane expressway now only.
It is an expressway so 2 wheelers wont be a problem, you can drive in both lanes except for lorries who take up the fast lane.
Central goverment should provide all there taxes to state goverments what they provides to central thrn they states will devolop roads their own
