Im loving this build series. I like how the mods are slightly retro like the sort of things you'd see done in the early 2000s when these were newer cars. Im old enough to remember when the mk3 was released. I used to go to vw dealers and look at the coloured hella rear lights and indicators and stuff. Great videos. Your mk2 build is strong too i always wanted a bbs kit on my mk2 but never found one. Might i make a suggestion. Instead of raffling the car off how about selling it and rolling it into another project? Maybe if this one sells well for maybe 2-2.5k when finished use that. Maybe a tt (you could have a go at a baseball glove interior) or id love to see you tackle a new beetle (they look great slammed on the right wheels) kinda like trading up sort of thing. Possibly with ultimate goal of getting to an r32? Sorry for the long comment. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the positive comments, selling it would be harder than a raffle because you guys watching can have a chance to own it and not spend too much on tickets, it's all open at the minute so I'm not dead set onit so we'll see
Love this series (I'm about done with my own Mk3 Cabrio). How is the state of the blend doors? Any foam blowing out? Curious to see how you attack that problem ;-)
the Lucid tails look pretty good, some black Hella Magics would look absolutely mega though if you could find a reasonably priced set :D VR6 lip is a classic, had a cheapo one on my mk3 and that thing took a good beating until a massive ice block cracked it... still held up w/o fixes for as long as I owned it :) kinda want a mk3 for myself again but my criterias are too strict... mk4 wagon it is for me!
Looking at the prices now for colour magics that would be my whole budget on a set of lights 😂😂😂 Mk4 wagons are growing on mw I did consider getting a 1.8t
@@Project7YT yeah here in Finland all my sets of magics have been at most like 60€, I've owned a set of blues (50€), and two sets of blacks, one set was 20€ and the other 70€... :D gotta say that I have gotten very lucky with them though, all were from junkyards or mk3s that were sold as parts. I only have the 1.6 wagon, but the options make up for the non-existent power. Still has more power than either one of my mk3s and goes better though, with the added comforts of climatronic, cruise etc... Still miss the rattles and creaks of mk3s though, they just have something in them that keeps me intrigued
German Whip ya nah! 🙈🤣 I can vouch for fixing your project on a budget!! I started with basic spanners, hand me down tools over the years, built my tool kit and DIY'n myself with the reasoning being, for the money you'd spend in the garage is money saved doing it yourself minus some hours, cuts, curses and tools you'll need to buy along the way. Even a Halfords Advanced tool set is a life time investment.
@@Project7YT Yup but for the VR6s it's the US Bentley Publishings manual. Everything is still the same, just flipped bay. Like I said in a previous vlog, Audi wanted £2.6k to fix my car n I've bought almost all parts for £303! Including delivery on Autodoc. Heard people mention it so thought to give it a try as things are cheap and selling known brands? All this work ahead of me and I still only have breaker bars, no pry or impact guns 🤌🏾🤌🏾 Zero experience changing rear A4 Avant springs, rear brake lines, the whole control arms on front end then disc n pads, which I do have experience changing 🤣 All this before the Golf and the daily still has an oil and vacuum leak on top 😔
Doing wishbones and stance street + coilovers myself atm on the mk3.. Just sheered the head off the wishbone bolt tho so thats going nowhere for the minute :')
Hey dude. I have a question please. So my mk2 is just a weekend driver. And going to the odd show. I've recently bought a set of nice 15s and I'm looking at getting 185/50r15's for the wheels. Thing is. I can't seem to make up my mind when it comes to suspension. I wanna lower it. But a nice conservative drop. Like 40mm. Will it look ohky? Will a set of lowering springs and the standard height shocks be fine. I don't want a harsh or crashy ride. Or should I save for coil overs that I can then set to where I want the height to be. Then the question again. I don't wanna save the money. Het coil overs then immediately regret my decision because of the ride not being what I wanted. I've never experienced driving in a car with coil overs. So I can't grasp the ride quality.
Problem with lowering springs they're fixed so if they're not comfortable or the right height you'll have to start again. Coils you can get the desired height and make tweaks. Go out with a friend who has a mk2 golf on coils to get an idea

Lewis are you looking to get a glove supplier to sponsor your videos 😂
I'd love one 😂😂😂

As with any mk3 I wouldn't suprise me if these have failed aswell, I'll be taking the dash out anyway to do some interior wrapping so I'll do it then
